Dinner had gone well; Yandiswa seemed to fit right in with my family. And who could blame them for liking her? She was genuinely sweet and stood by her words. She was turning out to be quite different from what I had initially assumed, and maybe I had been a bit disrespectful towards her. After dinner, I decided not to head home for the night. Instead, I dropped off my family and went to my car with Yandiswa, naturally. Since we lived in the same neighborhood, it only made sense for me to take her home.

As we drove towards La Lucia, Yandiswa broke the silence. "Your family is amazing," she remarked, her cheeks tinged with a blush.

"Tell me about it. They seemed to like you," I replied, unable to hide the warmth in my tone.

Yandiswa shifted uncomfortably, averting her gaze. There was something about her sitting beside me that stirred a desire to lean in and kiss her passionately. She looked so beautiful in that moment.

"Thank you, I guess," she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper.

"You're not such a bitch after all," I blurted out, instantly regretting my choice of words.

"Oh... you thought I was a bitch?" she questioned, her tone tinged with surprise.

"In a way, yes. But I don't think you are anymore," I clarified, hoping to salvage the conversation.

She chuckled softly. "You're actually not such an ass after all," she retorted.

"You thought I was an ass?" I raised an eyebrow, feigning offense.

"I still think you are, but you're not that big of an ass," she admitted with a playful smirk.

"You don't know me well enough to judge me like that," I countered, feeling defensive.

"I spent half the day with you today, and you're not what I thought you were," she shot back.

"And what did you think I was?" I prodded, genuinely curious.

"It doesn't matter. My opinion of you has changed now," she replied cryptically.

"What-ever!" I grumbled, feeling frustrated by her enigmatic response.

We fell into a comfortable silence as I continued driving. Eventually, I couldn't resist asking, "Any boyfriend?"

"I don't date," she replied curtly, her tone guarded.

"There's no such thing. What did men ever do to you?" I pressed, attempting to lighten the mood.

"Are we really going there?" she sighed, clearly exasperated.

"I just want to know who I'm driving home," I explained, my tone softer now.

"My last boyfriend broke up with me, or I broke it off. I don't know which is which. It ended because I wouldn't have sex with him," she confessed, her voice tinged with bitterness.

"How long had you guys been together?" I inquired, trying to grasp the situation.

"Well, officially we were approaching our one-year anniversary, but we've known each other for four years," she revealed, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery.

"If you've known him that long, why not have sex with him?" I probed, genuinely curious.

"I was still a virgin. I wasn't ready for sex," she explained, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Ouch! So you starved the poor guy for a whole year?" I teased, attempting to lighten the mood.

"When you put it like that, it just sounds bad," she admitted with a wry smile.
