Headcanon: Roomate!Yōsuke Watanabe (Request)

• so it all began when you were in need of an apartment
• you were a university student that wasnt keen on going back to dorm life
• after enduring a horrendous roommate for ur entire freshman year
• you were like "BUMP THIIISS"
• so you asked around in your group of friends
• and one of ur friends—tsuki—mentioned her cousin who was living near to the college
• at first u were kinda like
• "live..live with a guy??"
• "nah fam"
• "im good"
• but tsuki reassured you that her cousin was completely respectful
• and he wasnt home much anyway since he was always busy with club activities at his own college
• you werent keen on having a repeat of the last year so you accepted
• altho hesitantly
• your fears were slightly put aside when you called him up using a number that tsuki gave you
• his voice was nice
• friendly
• thats what you first noticed
• "Hello"
• GEEZ HE SOUNDED ATTRACTIVE—
• "Oh, hello"
• "Ah, Y/N, right? Tsuki mentioned you'd call"
• "She did?"
• "Yes, I'm Yōsuke Watanabe, when do you wanna come by to see the apartment?"
• without thinking you were like "Tomorrow..?"
• "Okay"
• next thing you know
• youre in front of the door like
• and then you ring the doorbell like
• and then he opens the door like
• and W O W
• he was as attractive as he sounded on the phone
• the sirens start going off in ur head
• to stahp
• to halt
• u cannot be living with a guy as cute as this
• nevertheless, the hormones did the speaking for u
• not too long before ur set to move in the friday of that week
• and it was a wednesday
• curse your feminine needs
• its ok, you think to yourself
• its fine, he wont be around that much
• right?
• wrong
• ofc this guy is jst has to be a total sweetheart and help u move in
• and ofc he just has to have a slight ache in his back that keeps him from swimming practice for ur first two weeks in the apartment
• oh yeah
• did tsuki mention that he was a swimmer?
• no. no she did not.
• literally any other type of athlete would do.
• but no, ur roommate has to be on the swim team
• everybody knows that guys on the swim team are the hottest
• the most shredded
• can hold their breath the longest
• if ya catch the drift
• and he like offered to pay most of the rent for the first month??
• cs he knew you were just settling into ur job as ur professor's assistant??
• why was he so perfect??
• so yeah
• veeery awkward for the first few weeks together
• more so on ur part
• u couldnt hold a stable conversation with him for more than five minutes
• simply bc you kept getting flustered and stutter-y
• is stutter-y even a word
• you dont even care at this point
• point is, ya had a crush
• a deep one
• but yeah
• despite yōsuke's efforts at a conversation
• u avoided him like the plague
• wanna go get takeout together?
• "i have to study"
• wanna go get cookies together?
• "i have a report to do"
• wanna go look at new furniture?
• "im not so good with decor"
• like u jst kept shooting this man down
• and like u feel bad but ITS NOT UR FAULT OK
• HES JUST TOO HANDSOME
• it wasnt until he invited you to one of his swim meets that you finally gave in
• simply bc how could u say no to an offer like that?
• that would be just plain rude
• also u kinda wanted to see some abs-
• but THAT IS NOT THE POINT
• anyways
• while u initially went for eye candy
• u were actually pleased to see that the abilities of the swimmers astounded u enough to keep ur attention
• yōsuke in particular impressed u
• like damn boy
• u fast
• u also super hot-
• ok so maybe u were still kinda drooling
• but at least u managed to smile from the bleachers when he have u a salute
• on the walk back (yeah yall arent rich enuff to afford a car-) you two have your first real conversation
• maybe it was the fact that you were no longer enclosed in a small apartment with yōsuke
• but talking with him out in public seemed easier
• altho u were still blushing slightly-
• and u guys even went to get ramen together!!
• when the both of u get warmed up to each other in the weeks following
• u find that noodles are one of yōsuke's favorite things to make and eat
• not very healthy for an athlete but-
• hes an exceptionally good cook
• so it works out for u
• esp when he makes yakisoba!!
• just y u m
• why the hell is ur roommate so perfect
• he volunteers to do most of the cooking
• bc hes much better than u at cooking
• tho he doesnt say it loud u both know its the truth-
• but its ok cs u bake for him :DD
• ur actually the reason he keeps doing cheat days despite whatever diet regulations his coach gives him
• and he acts like its a burden but hes always finishing his plate of cookies, cupcakes, cake, etc
• so u know ur doing something right lmao
• u actually arent a big swimmer
• but yōsuke makes u swim with him in the pool sometimes
• he teaches u techniques on breathholding, different swimming forms, how to flip underwater, etc etc
• its like having ur own personal swimming coach
• sometimes u cant help but feel conscious in swimwear around someone as built as him
• but yōsuke's never directly made u feel bad
• if anything, he always makes u feel good
• he's very sincere when it comes to compliments
• it comes out casual but you know he means it
• "oh that dress looks good on you"
• "nice shirt"
• "your hair looks nice today"
• he's also a rlly good listener
• he can sit for hours as u talk about your whole day, whether good or bad
• and he always has the nicest things to say
• very good motivator
• hes a very bright person
• ofc, that means that having him reveal things to u is a bit hard,,
• u find that yōsuke is the type to withhold his true feelings
• often brushing it off with a smile
• but ur a persistent person
• u somehow caught him at a particularly vulnerable moment
• and after minutes of gentle pressure
• the floodgates opened
• and awww, he was holding in so much!
• he'd been feeling pressured and such
• some relationships in his life weren't working out
• it made you feel bad cs he's always so helpful towards u and u had no idea abt what was going on with him
• u hug and comfort him through all the pain
• after that experience, the two of you got extremely close
• ppl even thought u two were dating
• i mean u wouldnt be opposed to that but-
• nah, not dating
• (yet)
• even tsuki came by to pay a visit and she was like 👀👀👀👀
• but you both laughed it off like
• "him? pfftt neverrr"
• "her? naaauurrr waayy"
• but like come on
• yall hella sus
• always cuddly and shit
• even in public
• u even wear his clothes sometimes
• just his shirts dw-
• but like its just so convenient cs less laundry for u

• its funny cs u two have a deal to do ur own laundry separately but then
• it keeps alternating
• sometimes u do both his and ur loads
• sometimes he does his and ur loads
• at first it was like a "should i?" moment cs then u were like folding his underwear and he was folding urs
• but at some point
• ya just stop caring
• so its not that weird
• one rule u do follow to the very last letter is
• no bringing dates to the apartment
• which is fine cs both of u dont rlly have time to date people anyways
• but there was this one time yōsuke had a date
• and u went full mom mode
• "be careful of these harpies ya hear? ur a sweet boy that many will want to take advantage of"
• "its just coffee yn"
• "its coffee now and then next thing you know, you're getting down—,"
• "ok u can stop talking now"
• it ends up not working out tho
• u cant helpt but celebrate cs
• "yah bitch he was mine first💅"
• your crush on yōsuke will prolly always remain there at least a little
• and honestly its whatever at this point
• at least ur the closest thing he has to a girlfriend for the time being
• a little unhealthy? maybe
• but its ok
• u two go on little boat trips when u can!
• bc his dad owns a boat shop
• and ur just like "sir are u a merman? u might as well live in water"
• digression aside
• its always fun to be out there
• u were never the sailing or fishing type of girl
• but yōsuke is quickly turning u into one

• even tho u had to toss him back in smh
• yōsuke even teaches u the names of the parts of a boat
• u teach him some things as well tho
• yōsuke never pegged himself as a board game type of guy
• never even played monopoly in his life
• but u get him pegged on that shit
• monopoly gets super chaotic when it comes to u two
• the most competitive little shits ever
• it scares people when u have company over

• yōsuke may seem like an easygoing guy
• but when drinks are involved?

• the first time u two attend a party

• lets just say that u had to coax yōsuke off of the roof

• and ur just like "boi if u say something about my sparkling eyes again, im moving out"
• "noooo, dont leave meeee!"
• on the topic of moving out
• ironically,,
• yōsuke leaves first
• it'd been about two years of living together when yōsuke had the opportunity to advance his studies in europe on a swimming scholarship
• when u found out, u immediately treated him to all the desserts that u could think of
• cs like "ur not getting anything like this again, so savor it"
• and hes like frowning
• and ur like "NO, no bad emotions, it's a good opportunity."
• "but-,"
• "im proud of u."
• and so he holds off on the sorrowful goodbye
• u two spend ur last night over dessert and lots of wine (altho u make sure that he doesnt have too much,, dont want a hangover on his flight)
• and its all fun-loving conversation
• until it hits about 2 am and ur both huddled beneath a blanket
• and the gravity of the situation hits u
• but u wanna fight the melancholy ur feeling
• so u decide to tease him
• "so, europe huh? ready to meet the potential love of your life?"
• "excuse me?" he chuckles
• "european girls are quite exotic, you know"
• "i dont know if thats suited for me"
• "i think it is." you purse your lips "i think you're meant to live a greater life above all of us."
• "you make me sound so great."
• "well, you are...you're a great roommate after all."
• "even if i beat u at monopoly all the time?" he smiled
• you scoffed, "oh please that was one time."
• he laughs when u shove him
• "i have to find a new roommate now.."
• he's quiet for a moment "...yeah."
• "i'm gonna miss you."
• "me too."
• damn u ended up getting mushy anyway
• in order to lighten the mood u poke his cheek thats starting to redden in his inebriated state
• "but just remember, when you find that girl, remember that i am still your priority!"
• "of course. you're my first girlfriend after all."
• u know he's just saying it as a part of ur banter
• but u cant help but feel pleased
• "good."
• at the airport, u refuse to cry
• even as yōsuke begins to sniff slightly
• u instead start nagging at him to remember to send u gifts and such from europe
• "a postcard or two would be nice to let me know what ur doing, maybe every six months. but remember, the gifts and treats should be arriving in my mailbox every month."
• yōsuke's laugh is thick with his emotions, "of course."
• before u know it, yōsuke leaves u there next to tsuki
• not without giving u a big kiss on the forehead and a warm hug
• u have half a mind to call out his name for a last wave
• but u decide not to
• holding a hand over ur heart, u try ur best not to get overcome with emotions
• "you know...you could've told him."
• you turn to see tsuki whose smile is sympathetic
• you take a breath and wipe a stray tear, chest churning
• "nah. it's fine."

A/N: I don't know if it's because I haven't done these headcanons in awhile, but does this one seem sadder than the usual ones? PPFFFTT. Y'all, I'm sorry, I couldn't help it because Yōsuke has such good angst material for his character okkkk. Who knows? I might make a legitimate one shot for this particular AU's story. Also ngl, I was very tempted to have them kiss multiple times in their timeline (they just had so much sexual tension?? esp during the last scene), but I have kept the roommate series strictly platonic so far so. Wasn't sure whether or not I wanted to take this one down a romantic route. I also might rewrite the Aqours third year roommate headcanons. If I have the luxury of tume. But aaanyways! I've been sick with the flu, hence the delayed post for this headcanon; but I'm feeling a little better so I decided to finish this one off.
