The days went by with little to no improvement in George's condition but still, they visited every day. The good news was, however, that George had woken up somewhere the second day and was able to hold short conversations.

The first time Ava had gotten up to give them some privacy but Sébastien had quickly pulled her back into her seat. He hadn't let go of her hand the entire time.

And though he refused to talk about it, she could see it wore him down. She tried to open up a conversation but he'd quickly shut it down by sending her a blinding smile and making a comment that would make her face heat up.

She was currently seated on his lap in his office, breathing in his scent as he worked. It was had to be interested in his work when he was literally just typing emails about things she couldn't understand and staring at sheets with numbers.

There was a small space between the waistband of his jeans and the hem of his shirt where his skin was exposed. Somehow, it had ridden up when he'd reached out to pull her to him and without thinking she reached out to run her fingers over his skin. She noted the way his muscles would tense up anytime they made contact.

Or the way his breath would hitch when she got too close to his waistband.

There was a light fuzz of hair running from his navel downward, and she was about to run her fingers through that when he pulled her wrist away and shifted in his seat, repositioning her.

"You're getting in very dangerous territory, Ave," he whispered huskily in her ear, sending electricity down her spine. She hoped he didn't notice the way she clenched her legs together but knowing him, he noticed it all.

"Are you telling me I should be scared, then?" she whispered back at him.

"Never," he replied before bending down to kiss her lightly, kneading her lips at an agonizingly slow pace. His free arm let go of her wrist to close the laptop before wandering down to her hip.

His next move surprised her and she let out a yelp when he suddenly stood up, still holding her by the hips. Instinctively, she wrapped her legs around his waist for support and suddenly understood why he'd shifted their position earlier. Something hard was pressing against her crotch, sending fire through her body.

But it also excited her, even though it made her nervous. She needed more, and the slight friction from his walking wasn't enough. Without thinking, she flexed her thighs to grind against him a little harder, causing him to stop walking and release a deep groan.

"Stop that," he ground out. His strained voice made her instantly still, not wanting to push it further. She peeked up at him to see his dark eyes trained on her and for a moment they just stared at each other.

With another groan, he started walking again. "What are you doing to me, Ava?"

"Me?" she mumbled, digging her face in his chest. "What are you doing to me?"

And she meant it, always wanting to do things she could never otherwise imagine herself doing. It was different when she was with him. He made her feel things she'd never felt before. She never even questioned where he was taking her until he kicked his bedroom door closed behind them. Their bedroom, she had to remind herself.

He ever so carefully set her down on the bed before moving to hoover over her. His powerful arms held him up on either side of her head while his legs moved in between her own.

He looked at her again for a moment longer before murmuring, "you're so sexy, Ave," and capturing her lips in a heavy and passionate kiss. This kiss couldn't be any more different from the previous one, which had been slow and sensual. This was so much more.
