"he just came in with multiple severe shot wounds to the chest." the lady said, with the calmest voice ever. It was as if she felt no sympathy. "is there anything else?" she asked. "not at this moment, i will update you miss rose" she the receptionist said.
"amari thank you for bringing her here" she said as she briefly hugged me. "it's not a problem. can i do anything else?" i asked as i pulled out a chair for her.
"no, just go home and get some sleep. it's late" she said with a warm smile. As i was about to leave i felt a tap on my shoulder. "thank you" jaeda whispered as she held her arms out for a hug.
"oh, no problem" i said as my arms wrapped around her waist. God i missed her so much. Her scent, her touch, her lips, her skin. Everything, i missed everything about her.
"and i'm also sorry about yesterday, it was real-" i started until she nodded with a smile. "we'll talk about that a different day, not right now" she said as i nodded in agreement.
"goodnight jae" i whispered softly while smiling at her a bit. "goodnight" she whispered. I leaned down, leaving a soft kiss on her cheek.
I only wanted one girl and that girl was jaeda. No one else but her. But i'm afraid she'd already moved on. Maybe he was a better option for her.
Jaeda's POV
Is it bad that i didn't feel butterflies around him anymore? He was probably just trying to be kind but still, before i would get butterflies over the simplest things he would do but now. . . .
It's just not the same. Ma was still arguing with those officer's in the waiting room. They weren't even trying to hide their racism. The slurs, the derogatory comments, they were spitting venom at this point, but so was ma.
"ky, don't you want a new shirt? i can get you one" i whispered to him as he laid his head on my lap. "no thanks" he mumbled as tears ran down his cheeks. "bubs. . . he's going to be fine" i whispered.
"how do you know that?!" he shouted while looking at me. "he shot him five times! i counted. . . him!" he shouted as he walked over to the officer, pointing at him.
"someone get this nigger out my face" the officer spat. "kyle go sit down" ma said to him but kyle refused. I took my phone out, discreetly videoing what was happening.
This would most definitely get taken to court, and i wanted to have my proof. In this world, people like us. . . black people. . . we never win. and if we do, the price is very, VERY high.
"you shot my brother!" kyle shouted. "kyle go sit down!" ma said while stomping her foot on the ground. "but he shot him ma" kyle mumbled.
"five times, i counted it. one here, here, one here, here, and then here" kyle said while pointing on his body, where brayden got shot.
"i know son, but please sit down for me, i'll handle it" ma whispered to him. Kyle dragged his feet over to him, plopping down on the seat next to me.
"family for Brayden Rose?" a doctor finally said causing ma to rush over to her. They talked for a good amount of time until ma finally came over to us.
"He's barely alive" she announced. "he cant breathe on his own as yet and the chance of survival for him is lessening by the minute" she whispered while looking down.
"can we see him?" kyle asked. "she said in two hours, they want to monitor his breathing" ma said while sitting next to us.
"what happened to those cops? why are they leaving?" kyle asked while looking at the door. "i'm taking it to court, i have their badge numbers and everything." she said before sighing.
"ma? what happened?" i asked. "i cant. . . i can't afford a good lawyer jaeda. i'm sorry" she apologized while looking down in shame. "so what happens to brayden?" i asked, seeing her shrug.
