Felix knew Jisung had seen him sitting with Chan at lunch. Of course, he knew they made direct eye contact with each other.
Felix was happy within the first second of it but then he noticed Jisung's blank facial expression and quickly realized how it might look to him.
He had no idea what he would think if he saw someone who had been helping him hang out with someone who is the exact person causing him so much pain in the first place.
He couldn't stop thinking about it for the rest of the day.
Once school ended he slowly walked to the spot he would usually meet Chan at. As much as he wanted to he couldn't make up excuses every day and prevent Chan from doing anything to Jisung without him getting suspicious.
So today he didn't say anything to Chan about it at all. As a result, he had to listen to his best friend hurt his crush as he silently stood around the corner doing absolutely nothing.
He felt useless...more like he knew he was useless in the situation. He wished he could be more carefree like Jisung and somehow convince Chan to stop but he was still too scared to even try.
It was only natural for Felix to begin to blame the entire situation on himself. He could do something to possibly get Chan to stop...but he wasn't going to.
"Hi," Chan greeted him with a sweet smile as he walked around the corner as if he wasn't beating up an innocent human being seconds beforehand.
"Hey," Felix replied, cringing at the way his voice cracked a bit.
"Do you wanna go to my house and watch a movie or something? I feel like we haven't been hanging out as much anymore." Chan said and began walking although Felix didn't follow him.
"I have to go study with someone from my class."
"Why?"
"I failed that test a while ago and my teacher doesn't want it to end up happening again so he's making someone tutor me." Felix lied, looking at the ground in hopes that Chan would somehow end up believing him.
"Name and grade of the person?"
"It doesn't matter. I have to go now but I'll see you tomorrow." Felix said. He knew Chan was asking in case anything happened with the tutor or if he said something mean to Felix but not only could Felix not think of a fake name to use, he also simply didn't want to be near Chan knowing what he had just done a few minutes prior.
"Text me when you're done please."
"I will," Felix replied and slowly started walking away, waiting for Chan to do the same before turning around the building and sitting down next to his crush who was lying against the wall.
Felix opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out. He didn't know what he could say to make the fact that Jisung saw him sitting next to Chan at lunch any less horrible than it was.
"Does Chan know that you've been talking to me?" Jisung finally broke the silence between them and looked over at the younger who was looking back at him with a frown.
"No, trust me you would know if he found out," Felix mumbled and grabbed the first aid kit out of his backpack.
"So you aren't trying to find out information about me to tell Chan in order to make my life a living hell?" Jisung clarified.
"No, I started talking to you because I-" Felix cut himself off before he could finish his sentence and blankly stared at the cut he was cleaning on Jisung's cheek.
"You what?"
"Umm." Felix struggled to find an excuse. He couldn't straight up tell Jisung that it was mostly because he had a crush on him.
"Because you felt bad for me?"
"I do feel bad for you but that's not why I started talking to you," Felix said looking up at the older who was blankly looking back.
"Are you secretly telling Chan stuff about me? He already makes my life bad enough I really don't need that on top of it."
"I'm not telling Chan anything that you have ever said to me, I promise."
"I'm not sure how much I trust you right now," Jisung said. He would trust Felix a lot more if he would tell him the real reason but the fact that he wasn't scared him. It could end up being something even worse than the possibilities he had thought of.
Felix stayed silent for a while with the frown never leaving his face. He continued applying ointment to Jisung's bruises but he was on the verge of tears himself. Seeing Jisung had become his favorite part of the day. He was scared of Jisung hating him and never wanting to talk to him again and at the moment that possibility didn't seem too unrealistic.
"I should probably go," Jisung said a few seconds later and moved Felix's hand away from his face.
"Can I walk you home?"
"I think it would be better if you don't talk to me anymore," Jisung said plainly, grabbing his backpack to leave.
"Ever?" Felix said, looking over at him with teary eyes.
"Yeah. I'm not sure why I ever thought this could have ended up being a good thing in the first place."
Felix watched Jisung walk away and felt warm tears fall down his face as he got further.
They had only known each other for a short amount of time but he didn't want his life to go back to how it was before he started talking to Jisung. There was nothing he looked forward to and the only interesting thing that happened before Jisung was double dates with Chan. And those weren't exactly something he would consider fun.
He stayed sitting on the ground for a while until he finally stood up and slowly started making his way home, starring at the ground as he walked.
He was almost to his own door when he heard someone run up to him and call his name.
"Felix, why are you crying?" Chan questioned, looking at him with worried eyes.
