Wanted – The Dark Kingdom

Chapter 43- The Gods of Darkness

A wind from the North blows,

bringing with it those who lie below.

With them, spreads the infection,

to what may be the darkest connection.

A crown forged from the tears of good and bad,

will choose the king whose army stands.

The light leads and the dark follows,

to the first jewel of the girl who borrowed

Then, the dark leads and the light follows,

to the second jewel of a man's true horror

A king shall be crowned where the first king stepped,

putting an end to their world's unrest.

Percy stared at the tapestry in disbelief, not believing his luck. He had found it. He had finally found the map of the blessed.

The crown had been blessed by three gods of darkness and three gods of light. And Tartarus had been the very first. And his was the best out of all the blessings, the crown.

He was now at an advantage compared to Erebus. Even if Erebus had the dark jewel. Get the crown, and Percy would be in the lead.

He stepped closer to the tapestry, placing a finger on it and began tracing along the various woven patterns. It was beautiful, in all the wrong ways. The colors were too bright. The image woven too deranged. But its beauty was in how life-like it appeared. Whoever Alcaeus had ordered to do it had been talented enough to depict the authentic scene without ever seeing it. Or maybe Alcaeus had been good at describing things. Either way, the tapestry had served its purpose.

Percy stepped away from the tapestry and turned to face the small door the servants would use to enter and exit the throne room.

Beyond that door, were the rest of the clues.

And there was no time to waste. No time at all.

Percy turned on his heels and exited the throne room through the enormous double doors. Upon seeing him, the two guards posted outside the doors stood up straighter. He faced them and said, "find my old friends, Colin and Mya. Tell them to pack for a trip, except for Mya. And to meet me in the throne room in twenty minutes. Quickly. Now." The guards nodded and bowed, instantly departing their posts.

Percy raced to his office and threw everything he thought he would need into a backpack.

He knew the map would lead them below the castle. To a place so ancient he didn't want to imagine what they would find. But judging from his last venture into an ancient underground castle, he wanted to be fully ready this time.

After leaving his office, he made his way down to the castle's kitchen to grab as many energy bars as possible and water his bag would fit. Then, he hurriedly made his way to the throne room.
