Chapter 17

Max's pov

It was as if I was in a trance as she walked up to me and gave me a tight hug

"I missed you so much babe " she cooed and that's when I snapped out of the trance

I pushed her off me and glared at her

"What the hell do you want? " I spat

"Aw come on babe, don't tell me you're still mad, I told you it was an accident " she pouted

"Yeah sure " I replied sarcastically "An accident that had been going on for six months "

"I said I was sorry didn't I? "

"No you didn't, besides, you didn't forget my birthday Debra, you fucking cheated on me with my best friend " I snapped

"Okay Max, I'm really sorry " she said

"Too late for that Debra, I don't need you anymore " I smirked

"What do you mean by that? " she asked shocked

"I mean I've found someone ten times better than you and I'm not coming back to you. Ever. " I answered simply

"In fact I believe an introduction is in order, these are my friends, Don, Shawn, Luke, Noah, Jess and Roxy. And this is my girlfriend Veronica " I finished wrapping my arm around her aa she rested her head on my chest trying to calm me down because she knew what happened between Debra and I

"You replaced me?! " she yelled incredulously

"Why act so surprised? You were doing the same thing until you got caught " I sneered

"Just remember Max, you'll always be mine " she tossed her blonde hair and walked away

"Oh Debra, before you go...." she turned to me and I connected my lips with Veronica's and she kissed me back instantly and our lips were moving in sync with each other

I gently broke the kiss and Debra huffed angrily and stomped down the hallway

I turned to my friends who all held confused expressions after seeing what just happened

"Dude how do you know her? " Don asked

As I was about to explain, the bell went for first class

"I'll tell you guys everything during lunch " I assured them as we went our separate ways to our classes

Finally it was lunchtime and we all met up at the cafeteria and after getting our meals (which were actually good compared to other reports of cafeteria food) we sat at our table

They were all waiting for me to tell them about Debra but to be honest I didn't want to talk about her but it seems that I have to

"Debra is my ex from my former school, we dated for thirteen months before I found her making out with my former best friend, then I ended things with her, as you've already seen, she's pretty, and can make anyone fall for her charms but she's also a crazy backstabbing bitch, I mean she once cut off a girl's hair just because she saw me hugging her, so yeah, definitely a psycho " I sighed "I was too blinded by my feelings for her to realize how bad she was, she never let me see her mean side and she was always very supportive, not the fake support but she made it real and she was there for me too when I was down but in the end, her secret was exposed when I caught her making out with Brad, that's why I hate her and that's why I won't have anything to do with her ever again, more importantly I have someone even better " I finished, putting my arm around Veronica who blushed slightly and smiled

"Damn, that's.....wow, I take back every nice thing I said about her " Luke said

"Nah, really it's fine, if you want to be friends with her then it's fine by me, but I simply won't be around her " I shrugged

"Dude I already have my eye on someone and from what you've described, she's definitely not worth it, no telling, that includes all of you" Luke said while looking at everyone

I raised a brow at him as he smirked at me and then smiled at something behind me. I turned my head and saw Nicole walking towards us with her tray and I gave a knowing smirk and kept my mouth shut

"Hey Nikki, I reserved a seat just for you " Luke smiled patting the space beside him and Nicole smiled as she sat beside him

The others briefly told her what she'd missed about Debra and they all agreed that she wasn't gonna be accepted in our group and I for one was grateful for that

"Oh Max " came a sing-song voice that I knew all too well

I groaned and tuned to Debra who was waking up to us with a big smile on her face

"In case you're lost, the slut table is over there " I pointed to Brittney's table

She waved off the comment "I actually came looking for you " she looked at me

"And why exactly would I want to see your backstabbing face again? " I tilted my head raising a brow

"Look I know we're not on the best of terms- "

I snorted "Got that right "

"But I really need to talk to you " she finished

"No thanks, I'm good " I shook my head

"Please? " she said

"Max just hear what she has to say, I'm okay with it " Veronica put her hand on my arm

I looked at her "But ..." I wanted to tell her that I WASN'T okay with it but then I decided to go with Debra and I was already getting pissed again "Fine "

"Let's go " I stood up and walked away with my hands curled into fists and Debra followed, leaving the rest of them bewildered at the table

We entered an empty classroom and I immediately turned to her "Get to the point and don't waste my time " I spat

She flinched at my hostility but maintained her composure

"Look, I know I screwed up, and I know I ruined what we had but you have to believe me when I say that I'm honestly sorry, I just felt so threatened by those other girls and I didn't want to lose you, and when you flipped at me for cutting that girl's hair, I thought I lost you....so I got drunk and Brad was there and after the first time I.....I'm really sorry Max, I know a million apologies won't take away the pain but I just want you to know that I regret everything and I want to make things right with you " she said looking at me sadly

I put on an emotionless expression "The old me would have loved to hear those words, he would have come running straight into your arms and overlooked everything and we would've gone back to the way things were but let me make one thing clear, the Max that loved you is dead. He died the day he saw you kissing his best friend, and the Max standing in front of you has no intention of having any form of reconciliation with you, not now, not ever. You broke me and you knew exactly what you were doing but you didn't care. So now it's already too late, I've moved on and you should too, because, read my lips from this moment onwards... " I looked her dead in the eye "You mean absolutely nothing to me "

She looked sad for a moment but then she looked at something behind me and smiled

I furrowed my brows but before I could figure out what was happening she dragged me by the shirt and kissed me

Once I registered what was happening I immediately pushed her away and saw her smiling at something behind me and I turned around and saw Veronica standing at the door

So I'm looking at this book and I'm like, why am I still writing this? I honestly don't feel anything other than just me venting and turning it into a story (probably a bad one too) so.... here's another chapter
