Max's pov
I turned to the door and saw them looking at me in horror
"How long were you all here? " I looked at them
"Long enough to see everything " Shawn said with an unreadable expression
"Shit " I muttered, they'd seen my panic attack
Roxy was the first to walk towards me and I looked at her and realized that they either thought I was a drug addict or I had a panic attack
"This isn't what it looks like " I tried to play it down running my hand through my hair
"Then what is it Max? Cuz it looks like you just had a fucking panic attack " Roxy practically yelled but I could still detect that unfamiliar concern in her voice
I looked away, avoiding her eyes and the eyes of all of them "then I guess it is what it looks like " I said quietly without looking at her
It was a full minute before they spoke
"What caused it? "
"What happened to you? "
"Was it because you sang in front of everyone? "
"Are you okay? "
Shawn Luke Don and Jess all asked at the same time. Only Roxy stayed silent
I frowned and understood immediately that she rejected me because of what she'd just witnessed
"Look there's no need to bother, I'm fine " I said as I began to walk towards the door
"Listen Max we're your friends and we want to help you " Jess spoke, concern lacing her voice
I took another look at Roxy who looked away immediately and my jaw tightened and I began to walk away before Shawn and Don stepped in front of me but I cut them off before they could say anything
"I have PTSD "
They all gasped and Roxy snapped her head to me when she heard that and a look of horror crossed her face once again
"Now that you're aware, you can leave, just like everyone else " I said before pushing past them and reaching the door
"We're not leaving you Max, we're your friends and we're here for you " Roxy finally spoke quietly
I turned and faced them
"We've all gone through dark stages of our lives so we're here to help you get through this " Jess said
Shawn put his arm around my shoulder "You're one of us now " and I saw Luke and Don nod
"I don't know what to say.... thanks I guess " I said with a bit of a smile
"Don't mention it, it's what friends do " Luke said
The bell rang and we all went to our various classes for the rest of the day though I later found out my detention was canceled after the soccer coach met Mr Luke

After school we all went to the soccer field for practice and the shootout match
"Noah hasn't lost a single shootout contest since he joined the team " Jess commented
"That's about to change " I said smirking
"Cocky much? " Roxy rolled her eyes smiling
"Just sit back and watch me humiliate your friend " I replied
