HOPE THIS SERVES AS AN EXPLANATION.  ***

Two days ago

ATHENA POV

I am pregnant. I can't believe this.

I am in my bed alone. I told Shawn and every worker at the house to leave me alone.

I touch my stomach and I begin to cry again. I am so full of emotions. I just can't think straight.

...

Later that day

I wake up and stretch my arms. A knock is at my door, "It's me Bonnie. May I come in madam?"

"Yeah,"

She comes in with the kitchen phone. "Royce says it's important."

Oh gosh, what does he want? I could care less about him right now.

"Tell him I'm sleeping," I say.

Bonnie tells him that. She puts her hand on the phone. "He says you are awake. He knows your lame excuses."

I roll my eyes and get the phone. "What Royce?"

"Did you know your father is an employee of this company?" He quickly asks.

I am taken back by this question. My father never worked for any oil company. "No, he doesn't work for Shawn or his father."

"Well, I was asked to help liquidate employees. A Polo Marrison is in the system since 2011," he says. "I quickly thought of your father. I doubt there's another Polo Marrison."

But, why is there one? Father should have told my mom and me about this. Shawn would have told me. Shawn just said he knew my dad by a relative.

"Athena, I am worried now. I thought you knew but there's something fishy going on. Let me see if I can get a photo ID," Royce says. There's seconds of silence until Royce says my name. "Athena, it is your dad."
He tells me everything he knows.
....

Next day

I am waiting in the living room for my mother. I haven't seen Shawn at all and I don't want to. I despise him and my father. I need to know everything coming from my dad.

Someone knocks on the door then the door bell is rung. Bonnie comes by and opens it. I see my mother smiling wide at me. She quickly hugs me before I can say hi.

"Oh baby, I missed you," she says.

"Me too."

"Hey Athena," father says. I pull back and see him lightly smiling at me.

I fake a smile. "Hi." I get my mom's hand and take her to the living room. "What did you want to tell me?"
We sit and I wait for her answer. "I'm cancer free," she smiles.
My stomach tickles and my lungs are breathing in fast. I have a huge smile on my face. "Really? Mom, oh my gosh!" I yell in excitement. I hug her tight and kiss her cheeks.
"I'm so thankful to live," she says. "I know I can be with you for a while longer."
I pull back and smile. She needs to know the truth, but will she be okay?
"So, how are you?" my dad asks.
I touch my stomach and take a deep breathe in and out. "I'm expecting."
My mom cheers and dad claps. "Oh sweetie, I knew you will be blessed again," Mom says.
"Wow, that's amazing," Dad chuckles.
"How far along are you?" Mom touches my stomach.
"I think like 2 months,"
"Good, well, god has answered my prayers."
I wish this will be a happily ever after but it is turning into an emotional and chaotic nightmare.
"Is Shawn here?" Dad asks.
"No," I say.
"Sweetie," Mom pats my leg. "Why do I sense you aren't well?"
I sigh. "I'm just worried."
"You look scared," Dad says.
I look down at my hands. Even if he is the last person I want to see, he is right. I'm scared to have a baby. I don't even want to have Shawn's baby anymore.
"Oh. Don't cry Athena," Mom cups my face. I look at her. "I'm not good."
She frowns, "its fine."
"I'm going to see Shawn," Dad stands, "you talk to her." He leaves and I immediately cry my eyes out. My mom hugs me tight and let's me cry. I cry quietly so Bonnie won't hear.
