A/N I basically just took the lyrics from Madd Buckley's The Red Means I Love You and used em as dialogue. Very much tw; be wary
Don't say I didn't warn ya

"Unusual." A deep sigh resonated in the small baby blue room. The speaker, a brunette woman, had her back turned from the true subject of her attention. "They say strange fascination, infatuation - a lunatic." She turned to her captive and gave him a charming smile, which only encouraged the pit forming in Spider-Man's stomach from where he was chained to a metal table. "Call me what suits your taste - I just wanna taste."

She turned back to her work and hummed as she messed with the materials on the table. The beaten and bruised vigilante knew that, whatever she had planned, it would really suck for him.

"And I've always heard it's what's inside that counts."

Uh oh.

"Cause my insides are red, and yours are too!" With a wild look on her face, she found herself at her victim's side, but empty handed. Spider-Man had a clear view of her busted lip. At least he had the pride of having done some damage before his capture. She poked his chest. "And the red on my face is matching you." Her hand stained scarlet when she brought it back up. Her eyes widened. "And goodness you're bleeding - what a wonderful feeling! You're down and you're pleading - my head is just reeling!" She laughed her sickly sweet laugh and took off his mask, booping his nose with a bloody finger. "The red means 'I love you'." She licked the remains off her hands. "Tasting your blood means 'I love you'."

She turned back to the table. Her humming resumed once more. Her gaze fell on some painkillers. Should she? Wouldn't it be more fun without?

"The red means 'I love you'," she said softly from under her breath. She decided against the painkillers and returned her attention to her latest obsession. She flashed him a grin. "The red means 'I love you'."

He looked away

"Unfortunate," she frowned. "They say such a shame, I turned out this way - a maniac." She returned to his side and tightened his restraints for good measure.  "Well, yeah I get manic when I cause a panic!" She cupped his cheek. He squirmed away, repulsed, but she took no notice. "And of course I'm excited when I see you around..."

A silent sigh, a shifted gaze. Where to start? She banged her head on the wall and picked up a scalpel. "Cause my insides are red, and yours are too..."

Having seemingly made up her mind, she returned to her prisoner. He shook his head silently and released a shaky breath, afraid that it might be one of his last.

She touched the weapon to his chest. "And the red on my face is matching you
And goodness you're bleeding - what a wonderful feeling! You're down and you're pleading - my head is just reeling!"

Spider-Man gasped for air, longing for a relief he knew wasn't likely.

"The red means 'I love you'," the woman reassured him. "Tasting your blood means 'I love you'."

With a loud bang, the door thudded open. In swarmed a plethora of SHIELD agents.

Despite this, her attention didn't waver as she continued her DIY surgery. "The red means 'I love you'."

Spider-Man cried out in relief as an agent pried the psychopath from him. She fought, giving her foe an elbow to the gut, and stamping on his toes. She waved her tool around.

As if trying to comfort the object of her harm and ill-will, she gave her patient a meaningful look. "The red means 'I love you'."

It wasn't long before she was overpowered. They cuffed her and threw her into the back of an armored vehicle to make the trip to SHIELD's secure prison. "You leave me high and dry," she whined, whimpering. "A rush comes to my mind at the drops of blood you leave behind!"

She gulped.

"Run as you might, my love will never, ever... stop."

She stared out the window and sniffed, the image of her affection clear in her mind.

"And I've always heard it's what's inside..."

What was so wrong about that logic?

"Cause my insides are red and yours are too. And the red on my face is matching you."

When they arrived, they began to pass through security. She saw many other criminals, but nothing stirred her quite like the brief glimpse of the nurse's office. She cackled. "And goodness you're bleeding - what a wonderful feeling... You're down and you're pleading - my head is just reeling!"

The inmates stared at her with curiosity as she walked past. All the attention only seemed to increase her insane mutterings. "The red means 'I love you'..." She licked her lips. "Tasting your blood means 'I love you'."

She shot a bloody smile at one crook in particular. She seemed to be looking right through him. Who did she see? "The red means 'I love you'."

The guards glanced between each other. Did she say anything else?

"The red means 'I love you'."

The big question in the trial was her sanity? Was she usually like this. Up to testify, she spotted a picture of Spider-Man's injuries  that had been evidence.

She smiled and took a steady breath. "The red means 'I love you'. Tasting your blood means 'I love you'."

The jury shivered.

"The red means 'I love you'."

She was later ruled insane.

All she could think of was her gorgeous subject and the taste of copper.

"The red means 'I love you'."
