"TITA SERA GANDA!" Evo beamed, welcoming me with a warm hug. I crouched down to level with him, dropping my travel bag on the ground and wrapping my arms around him. Ang laki na ni Evo. He's not a baby anymore!
"Na-miss ka ni Tita nang sobra!"
After hugging Evo, I stood up and gave his mother, Tia, a hug this time. I can't help but be teary-eyed seeing them after a year.
After I landed this morning in Manila, I went straight to Isabela to see them. I only came back here because of Arlo's wedding in Batanes in 3 days and Kuya Baker's proposal. Aside from that, hindi naman talaga ako uuwi kung hindi dahil sakanila. Magtatampo kasi sila kapag hindi raw ako nakarating kaya I don't have any choice talaga. And I'm sure there is a huge possibility that I will see Cash because he's Kuya Baker and Arlo's best friend.
"Akala ko hindi ka na talaga magpapakita samin." Tia says in a nagtatampo tone, after we pulled away from our hug. Her eyes were clouded with unshed tears and her lips curled downward. I just gave her an apologetic smile. Madalas naman kaming nagfe-facetime pero iba pa rin talaga kapag personal kayong magkita ulit.
When I took a few weeks off from work more than a year ago to visit my mom, we found out that she had pancreatic cancer after taking her to the hospital for a checkup. At that moment, I asked myself, "What did I do wrong to experience all of this? Do I deserve all this? Ano bang ginawa kong masama para mangyari sa'kin lahat 'to?"
Right then and there, I made a tough decision to just stay in LA permanently. Wala na rin naman akong babalikan sa Manila...
Kaya after two weeks of staying in LA, I just went back to Manila to formally hand in my resignation letter. Sir Andres was not thrilled about it. He said that he really likes working with me and he even tried to persuade me not to quit, but all that I've been thinking about at that moment is my mom. She needs me beside her, and I need to take care of her. "In case you decide to come back to Manila, please don't hesitate to apply here again." he even says before I finally bid him goodbye.
I only stayed for a week in Manila para magpaalam kila Curtis, Trent at sa iba pang naging kaibigan ko sa The Empress. I also visited Arlo and his girlfriend para magpaalam. Nagpaalam din ako kila Kuya Baker at Aunt Via and they helped me sell my unit at the Empire, which surprised me because it only took about 24 hours at naibenta ko agad! Kuya also helped me get all my stuff out, and yung iba pang gamit ko na hindi ko puwedeng bitbitin pabalik sa LA ay iniwan ko muna sa condo niya.
Kuya Baker and Aunt Via came with me on my trip back to LA because they wanted to visit mom. They stayed with us for a few days.
And Cash... I have never seen him again after our conversation outside my unit almost a year ago... I don't know where he is or what he's doing now because I refused to hear about him. Miski si Curtis ay walang sinasabi sa'kin na balita tungkol sa pinsan niya.
