"ARE YOU sure you don't want me to accompany you?"
Tia just gave me a reassuring smile before she nodded. "Salamat Sera pero okay lang talaga ako. Kaya ko namang mag-isa, at saka wala kasing magbabantay kay Evo." sabi niya bago tinignan si Evo na busy sa panonood ng cartoon sa tv.
"Okay... You have my number naman 'di ba? Just call me anytime." I say, and she just smiles at me.
Nagpaalam muna si Tia sa anak niya bago siya tuluyang umalis. Hinayaan ko lang manood si Evo ng cartoon, habang ginagawan ko siya ng sandwich. Sabi kasi ni Tia na mahilig sa kahit na anong bread si Evo—which is perfect for me because I don't really know how to cook.
I called Evo to eat his food. I made him a P & J sandwich and gave him a cup of fresh milk.
"Did you like the sandwich?" I asked Evo and he immediately nodded his head. That made my heart rejoice in delight. He gave me a hug and thanked me in his cute little voice after he finished eating his sandwich and milk.
I tousled his hair. "Go watch the cartoon na," I said, and he immediately ran back to the living room.
I can't help but to feel a pang in my chest every time I think about what Tia said about Evo's condition. He's just a little boy—a sweet and smart little boy.
I was cleaning the dishes when I heard a knock on the door. I immediately wiped my hand dry and went to get the door.
"Congratulations, Sera!" Curtis said upon opening the door. My forehead slightly creased in confusion.
"Ha?"
"You got hired!" he exclaimed. My eyes widened.
"Oh, my gosh!" I shrieked, and I immediately pulled him into a hug.
Akala ko talaga hindi na nila ako kukunin. I mean, no hard feelings naman kahit pa kaibigan ko iyong anak ng CEO ng The Empress. I will still accept if they'll not going to hire me, but wow! They did hire me.
"You should've called me yesterday!" I told him when we got inside. Nakakahiya kasi ang ingay namin dito sa hallway ni Curtis.
He gave me a shrug, "I wanted to surprise you personally," he said.
Evo run towards us when he saw that I have a visitor.
I crouch down to level with Evo. "Evo this is Tito Curtis," I said to the little kid.
Agad namang ngumiti si Evo at kumaway kay Curtis. "Hi Tito Curtis," he said in a very cute voice.
Curtis crouch down as well while smiling at Evo. He tousled his hair. "Hi Kiddo!"
Evo was smiling while looking at me and Curtis. "Tita Sera?" he said.
"Yes, baby?" I curiously asked because he was giving us some meaningful looks.
