The Plot

"Half our group is fucking so why are you surprised." Vona laughs from the couch.

"Fair observation." I shrug. I hear the clicking of heels sound down the hallway and already know Miss Reyes is coming before she comes through the hallway doorway.

"Good Morning everyone. I was hoping to catch you all together, but you will just have to share with the rest later. I'm afraid I have some bad news to share with you all." She gives me a pointed look so I already know what she is about to say, my acting skills coming out to play. "It was discovered this morning Mr. Hades was murdered in his sleep last night by Hasfa Hoffman."

The shock is evident around the room. Obviously we have great acting skills because the Shadows knew Mr. Hades was my target. The Serpents on the other hand did not. Geo and Kai share the same shock, but something in Asher's face makes it seem like he already knew this. That's weird.

I put on my show.

"Oh my god." I stand up dramatically and take out my phone. "I need to call Rider." I make an effort to go through my phone to find his contact.

"He didn't tell you?" Vona asks.

"No, he just texted me to hang out tonight. Didn't mention his dead father at all." I say, a little annoyed as I would be if I wasn't the one to slit his throat.

"I guess a good fuck is more important." Asher states.

"Shut the fuck up you ass. His father is dead." I shoot at Asher. What an asshole.

Rider picks up on the first ring. "Vienna? Everything alright?"

"You are asking me that?! Rider I just heard about your father. I'm so sorry to hear." I walk out the double doors into the backyard for some privacy. I really need an oscar.

"Oh. Yeah. I was going to tell you tonight." He says kind of blandly.

"You don't seem too upset, are you alright? Do you have any leads on who did this?"

"You know I hated that man. And no, no leads because I was never allowed in his business. He had a lot of enemies. I'm not surprised." He huffs, anger obvious towards his dead father. Well at least I don't need to be too sympathetic about it.

"I'm sorry. As long as you're okay, I just wanted to check in before tonight. Is there anything I can do for you"

"Oh I can think of a couple things you can do that will cheer me right up tonight." His voice drops through the phone.

"Rider!" I yell whisper to him.

"Wear something nice for me tonight babe. It will cheer me up." I can practically hear the wink through the phone.

"I will see what I can do. I'll see you tonight." I laugh.

"See ya later sexy."

"Bye!" I hang up before he can call me another name.

I walk back into the living room to see everyone has fallen back into conversation.

"So, can we put a movie on or something?" I sit back down with Lavender.

"Yes!" Lav squeals, sitting up grabbing for the remote. "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince starts in five minutes." She says surfing through channels.

"Fuck yes." I turn to get comfortable on the couch.

"You like Harry Potter?" Kai asks, surprised.

"You don't?" I responded.

"Kai, before you answer that. Just know if the answer is no, you don't like Harry Potter, the door is over there." Lavender says, pointing to the front doors. I nod my head once in agreement. He lifts his hands up.

"Alright, sure. I love it."

"Good." And that's that. The others end up joining us throughout the movie, and we somehow end up in a Harry Potter marathon the rest of the day. Laughing and making comments throughout each movie.

"Look, right there you can see it in Hermione's face that she realizes Harry is the last one, not the snake." I point to the screen.

"How do you even know that, Harry just saw through the snake's eyes." Asher retorts, popcorn flying out of his hand as he also motions towards the screen.

The day went by fast, but it was surprisingly... nice. To hang out with the Serpents. Like a group of friends. Somehow, it is now six PM and I need to start getting ready to see Rider tonight. I get up, with many protests from Lavender and Anna to stay for the final movie, and I make my way to my bathroom to start shaving every hair off my body.

Tonight should be fun. Angry at your dead dad sex sounds like a plan.

I love the angst when Asher and Vienna fight omg.
