Justin she doesn’t want to swim!” I argued with my husband. Justin is trying to teach our daughter, who is four years old, to swim without floaties. “She needs to learn!” “She’s four, Justin, four not twelve!” I’m trying my best to reason with him, but all he’s doing is scaring our daughter into not wanting to swim at all. “I don’t wanna learn how to swim yet!” She whined, almost throwing herself onto the ground. I hated when Justin and I fought, especially with our baby in front of us. My parents did the same until they split up when I was four and I don’t want that to happen to me and Justin. I care too damn much for him to ever break up this marriage and this family.

“But she needs to learn how to swim, (Y/N)” He lowered his voice since he just noticed that Dacey was listening to our conversation. “Justin, I’m not going to have her scared to death without her floaties. Why can’t you wait until she’s ready?” I was concerned by the look on his face he still wanted to teach her. I know that Justin is obstinate and so am I, I know he wants to believe this is right for our daughter but I don’t agree with it. She’s practically our world and I don’t want anything bad to happen to her intentionally or unintentionally. I wanted him to see from my point of view and where I was coming from, but it seems like he’s sticking with his statement.

Justin rolled his eyes and without a word made his way back into the house, slamming the sliding glass door. I sighed, picking up Dacey and sat her in the shade where our towels and lounge chair was. “Is daddy mad at me?” Her little voice carried through my ears as she practically mumbled under her breath as if she was about to cry. I saw little tears in her eyes that made me tear up also. I hated to see my daughter cry, especially if she thought one of us were mad at her or hated her. I brushed her tears away from her cheeks before kissing her forehead. “No baby, daddy’s mad at mommy. He doesn’t hate you. He loves you no matter what.” “Does he hate you?” I shook my head making her smile a little bit.

“Can we go inside, I want to make something for daddy” I nodded picking up our stuff and grabbing her hand at the same time as we walked back into the house. She let go of my hand and pretty much ran up to her room to start off with her little project. I sat our stuff down on the kitchen table before wanting to go find Jay. I searched, mostly everywhere, and couldn’t really find him. This is what we get for buying a big house, right? The first time we moved in I got lost and had to call Justin to find me, pathetic I know, but you can’t judge me since the same thing would happen to you, also. The last place I searched was his ‘man cave’ since it was far to walk to. I’m counting this as my workout for the day.

I moderately knocked on the door before coming in. “Justin?” I called out, hoping he’d be in here or I’m going to give up on the search and let him find me. “What?” He questioned, roughly shooting at the balls of the pool table. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist. He quickly relaxed as I pressed my cheek on his back. “I’m sorry.” I mumbled loud enough for him to hear. Justin immediately turned around and wrapped his arms around my waist while my arms flew up around his neck. “No, I’m sorry. I was acting like a spoiled little brat because you wanted to keep our child safe. I should’ve listened to you, but I just wanted to teach her how to swim… I realized that I almost scared her half to death. I love her too much, but I thought it was finally time to teach Dacey how to swim…”

I grasped gently glided my fingers up and down the back of his name and gave him a little smile, “It’s alright baby, but you got to listen to what she says whenever you want her to try something.” He nodded pressing his lips gently to mine making me kiss him back. Like I said, I loved Justin to death but things can easily go to his hand. I pulled away and laid my head against his shoulder, “I love you.” “I love you too.” “Daddy, daddy look what I made you!” Dacey barged in and started pulling on his shirt causing him to pull away from me and pick our little girl up. “Look it’s me, you, and mommy swimming! Now you can see what I would look like swimming without floaties!” She exclaimed making me smile and Justin laugh. “I love it baby girl.”
