I wanna give a huge thanks to thankyouux she's truly the best. Definitely couldn't have done this without her!

after eating breakfast with josie's family and getting to know them a little more, the remaining days of the three day weekend had gone by swiftly.

just as I was packing to head back home, josie knocked softly on her door to announce her presence.

I chuckled. "you don't have to knock. it's your room, dork."

"i just didn't want to frighten you." josie smiled as she walked in and kneeled down to the ground where my guitar case was still open. "hey, could i talk to you about something for a sec?" after zipping up my case, she glanced up to see me freeze for a second before nodding my head. she stood up once again and walked over to sit at the edge of the bed, patting the empty spot for me to join her.

"i had overheard.. you know, what my mom and you were talking about at breakfast your first night staying."

"oh," I nodded. "yeah, she just asked if—"

"i like you, y/n.." josie blurted in a soft whisper, that I had to strain myself to listen better, and when I heard those words leave her lips, my eyes widened.

"o-oh! right! about that-"

"w-why?" josie raised a brow. "what did you think i was talking about?"

I stuttered. "i t-thought you were talking about the pancakes.. your mom said i did a good job on making the pancakes in a perfect circle but to be honest, they reminded me of small goblin like creatures from a game i once played with mg-"

"no! i mean- the pancakes were perfect! they looked like regular looking... pancakes?" josie mumbled the last part, beginning to become flustered.

"i knew they looked like goblins!"

"y/n, they didn't i promise!"

after a awkward moment of silence, the both of us began to laugh off my rambling and flustering mess. the both of us were complete idiots, but at least we were idiots together.

lovable dorks that people adored even if we held such important roles to the salvatore boarding school. and suddenly it was like time stopped between us as josie now had her legs tucked into her chest, resting her chin on her knees and staring at me in awe.

josie loved your features. she felt guilty when you were all hanging out with the group, sometimes just shamelessly checking you out when y'all would eat at the grill.

I had to be honest with myself too that I also felt guilty when I made no move to even speak to Josie, probably because I was mainly focused on what Lizzie had to say. that's what Josie hated about our friendship. I'd spend every living moment making sure Lizzie was happy, always telling Lizzie how you were never busy when Josie knew I had dozen of assignments due by the end of the day. it was exhausting for me, but you stuck through with it to always be by Lizzie's side. now that she's said it clearly, Lizzie's and my relationship was always one-sided until that night after the performance.

at the end of the day, Josie and I packed up everything in her shelby and waved goodbye to her parents and little brother, who Cormac had to deranged from you and josie since he was saddened his big sister and now best friend were leaving.

"Lucas! your sister has to go back to school!" Josie's father grunted as he attempted to pull off the small 5 year-old away from the red shelby.

Lucas cried out. "no she doesn't! school is boring anyways, they'll torture her there and she'll forget about us!"
