Stronger Together (LokixReader)

First Interaction

I was in my cleanroom halfway through my favorite book when I heard the Bifrost open. I ran to the roof in anticipation of Thor with the rest of the team. There on the roof was Thor and a cute dark hair man behind him who looks as if he is a very complex individual. Steve stepped in front of me at the sight of him and Bucky followed his lead without need for explanation. The entire team was about to attack when Thor yelled at them to stop. 

"Why the hell is he here?! I thought he did enough damage last time he was here." Tony began yelling at Thor not waiting for an explanation. 

"Well you see Stark, Odin has decided that it would be best for Loki to spend some time on earth in hopes that he could gain some understanding for humans and learn that he is not above them, so I thought what place better than with the avengers himself!" Thor exclaimed clearly proud of this solution he decided upon.

After Bucky and I were up to date about the team's history with this man known as Loki the team begrudgingly let him into the tower. To say that the team was against Loki and me sharing a floor would be an understatement however my floor was the only one with a free room, personally I hoped to get to know this man more. Loki had stayed in his room for dinner, Steve made his famous chicken parmesan. After the team finished watching Moxie in which I was ranting about patriarchal pricks for the majority of the movie, we all headed to our rooms. I got changed into a pair of black sweat pants and a tank top and then went to sleep. I had only just fallen asleep when I was woken up by a haunting nightmare.

I dreamt that I was back in Hyrda's grasps and that they were injecting me with new torture serum while I had to watch them kill Bucky in front of my eyes. I went downstairs and continued to read my favorite book for a while as I did on most nights I had nightmares. I did not want the team to know I still had nightmares so I kept them to myself. I had just completed chapter 21 when I felt a presence behind me. I turned around whipping a knife out from under the couch and setting it on the enemy's jugular until I saw it was a smirking Loki. I put down the weapon and invited him to sit.

"I don't believe we had a formal introduction, I am Y/N," I said, Loki did not seem impressed by my friendliness so I decided to go back to reading.

"Out of all the books in the 9 realms, you enjoy reading f/b. I mean the least you could appreciate would be good literature." He said after a few minutes of silence.

"Oh really, I did not know you enjoyed reading," I said enjoying the fact that I got him to talk to me because I feel that he has some misunderstood history.

After discussing our favorite literature classics for a solid two hours, I asked him why he was up so late. 

"I could ask you the same thing darling," he replied in a teasing yet intentionally flirty tone. My heart did a little flutter which I did not understand. 

"I sometimes have really bad nightmares from my past which causes me to not be able to go back to sleep so I stay up and read, what's your excuse?" I replied.

There was a moment where we just sat and looked at each other until he responded saying how, "I am in the same boat then darling, you see I also suffer from the occasional nightmare." 

We then continued to share some of our past trauma in a competition to see who has the sadder back story. He told me how he was mind-controlled during the Avengers incident and he puts up his snarky facade as more of a shield rather than his true personality, I did not doubt him for a second. I then came back with the story of how I faked my gender to get enlisted in the War alongside Bucky until we were both captured and held captive by Hydra for 70 years being tortured and brainwashed. We decided on a tie for the time being and then talk until morning about our favorite childhood memories. 

When the team came down to the kitchen behind the living area, they were all bewildered by the fact that Loki and I were chatting so intensely. I then made a fruit smoothie bowl and went to my room to get changed to do my normal routine which consisted of breakfast, making my bed, skincare, changing, working out, showering, getting ready for the day, and then going on my way. I was usually finished by 12 so the team almost always knew where I was in the morning depending on the time. After I got changed into a set of burgundy leggings and a sports bra, I headed to the gym.
