At midnight Bondita was sitting in Koeli’s room who was sleeping beside her. She got up and went outside, she went to the temple and sat infront of Dugga Maa, joined her hands and started crying hard.
“Dugga Maa, aapse to kuch chipa nhi nah, mai duniya ko dikha to deti hoon ki mai bahut majboot ho chuki hoon, patthar ho chuki hoon, mujh par kisi ki baaton ka, kisi ke taano ka aur……au……r kisi ke aansoonyo ka koi asar nhi hota, par jaanti hai nah aap kitni taklif hoti hai mujhe aaj v.
Ye taane mere zakhm jo aaj v utne hi taaza hai jitne us waqt the uspar namak kaa kam karte hai, mere …… (with sarcastic smile) apno ke pyaar bhare jhoothe shabd mere ghao ko kured ke rakh dete hai, sab mere sayad pehle v swaang rachte the aur aaj v sayad swaang rachte hai.
Koi nhi hai jo mujhe samjhe, mera dard baante, meri ankahi taklif mehsoos kare. Na mere paas kisi ki god hai jis par sar rakh ke sukoon mehsoos kar sakun, na hi koi aisa jiske seene me chup ke ro sakun.
Akhir kya galti thi meri Dugga Maa jiski saza aapne aur baki sab ne mujhe di? Kya galti thi meri? Apni Maa ko duniya me sabse acha samajhna? Ya apne pati ko apna sansaar, apna pyaar , apna sabkuch manna? Ya us Sati ki aag me nhi jalna meri galti thi?
Haan yahi galti thi meri us aag me na jalna isliye sayad aaj itne saalon se is aag me jal rahi, us waqt nhi mari ya yun kahun kisi ne marne nhi diya aur aaj dekho har roz har pal mar rahi hoon, aur zindagi bhar aise hi Marti rahungi aur bhagya ka khel to dekho mujhe maut se bachane wale ne hi mujhe zindagi bhar ki maut de di.
Is tarah roz roz marne se acha kash Maa aapne usi waqt meri zaan le li hoti.
Par koi baat nhi Maa, mai aise hi mar mar ke jiyungi par kisi aur masoom Bondita ko Bondita Roy Chowdhury nhi bnne dungi, kisi aur Anirudh Roy Chowdhury ko kisi Bondita ke Zindagi se nhi khelne dungi jab tak zinda rahungi. Vaada hai maa apse, vaada hai mera. Bas aap mere saath rehna, sabne to chod hi diya mujhe par aap mat chodna.” She wiped her tears, joined her hands and knelt in front of Dugga Maa and went to Koeli’s room.
Kaka, Sumati, Batuk, Ani and Koeli all were awake and heard everything. Ani collapsed on his knees and Sumati too, these are the things they could only do, these are the only things they did and preferred when they could do many things for her but they’re only left with this option right now. Kaka also had tears into eyes but tears were not only for his Bahu more like a daughter but also Beta whom he loves the most, who matters for him the most.
Batuk and Koeli were genuinely crying for her, feeling her pain and wanted to give her the happiness again but they knew whatever they do can’t bring Bondita’s happiness, it can be cured only by a single person or maybe it’s too late for him also to make her once again the bubbly, sweet, naughty Bondita.
