Tied up to a chair, he was sitting there, dry blood staining his pale face. He looked horrible, terrifying. Yet he didn’t even have to have the blood substance smeared all over his face. His persona was just terrifying itself. Nearing his figure, Mr. Jun following steadily behind, Dae took a closer look at the man, whose owning pieces of memories of the woman who was holding herself to not spit on his face.
The man slowly titled his head up, curiously eyeing the two bodies that were now standing powerfully in front of him. Being stared at by those sinful eyes made Dae shudder in disgust. After some moments passed, the older man dared to speak up for the first time.

„I assume you found out!“

„Glad you did not play dumb! Or else the bullet would have already bored through your skull, Mr. Park!“

But he just laughed it off as if a five years old had roasted him with all innocence gathered in this world.

„Why would I play dumb when you already know? You know, right? That I killed your mother…“, yes, yes Dae knew. However, hearing it from the killer himself, was irritating her guts that desired to kill him right and then just as merciless as he had handled the innocent woman who took care of her two daughters.

„I can see why my son liked you. You’re quite smart, aren’t you? Sometimes, I have to admit, I just wished I could have found you and this little sister of yours and shot you too. Do you know why? Because the moment you had dared to stop me from hitting my own flesh and blood, I knew you were going to mess the entire plan up! And here I am sitting, probably being killed by someone I regretted not to have killed when I had the chance to. Sucks to be me, I guess!“, a dark chuckle sounded through the basement,  the only thing audible were those little grunts the man had left out and water drops dropping onto the ground.

Tensing up, adrenaline shot up in the veins of the grown up woman. She titled her head to the side, gazing everywhere but her victim to calm her nerves and prevent herself from doing anything she would regret later on.

She thought about Kaen. The boy she had been visiting the college with. The boy who had those grateful doe eyes when she saved him from his own father.

Suddenly, she felt the urge to add the same pain to the one who made him feel like a monster rather than a son. However, she also was aware that it wasn’t the time to act reckless.

„I heard this rascal is working for you!“, he caught the attention of Dae who now whipped her head back down to the pathetic person talking, „I heard he’s earning money now by playing an useless bodyguard! You know…when he was little, his mother and me used to financially struggle because our boss didn’t pay us enough and we also struggled to take care of Kaen. Sometimes we would be so angry and desperate, that we took out our anger on different kind of things that surrounded us. With that being said, Kaen! We used to hit him and throw him out of the house like he deserved some kind of punishment. His friend…what was his name again? Ah, Jungkook? Yeah, Jungkook…he was a pretty naive boy. He never noticed the bruises on my hurt son. I wasn’t sure if Kaen hid the bruises well or if he just found the perfect excuses to fool him but…Jungkook never suspected a thing. Everything was fine. Until you came and helped him out like some guardian angel. I hated you because you weren’t acting like Jungkook. You knew everything just by looking into my son’s eyes. He only needed to blink the wrong way and you knew he was hiding something. I hated that. I hated you. So, me and his mother worked for a man who had promised us pure wealth. Mainly me though. He would give me small tasks at first like swapping drugs with money or the other way around. Then the tasks got bigger and bigger until there was a situation where a pathetic father couldn’t pay the money he had borrowed back. I was commanded to kill him, yeah. Do you know who that man was? Bingo! Your father!“

Mrs. Kang’s blood boiled. She had seen it coming, yet she felt betrayed, hurt, angry and worthless. Just by hearing the things her father had gotten himself into, made her healthy mind turn its back to her. She was more than ready to slit his throat in half but she whispered to herself that this was not the way she wanted to take revenge.

If he was going to die, then with torture!

„Hah, I kind of felt accomplished when killing both of your parents! You and that little sister of yours were more than lucky when both of you had ran away from me in the woods! How is she doing by the way? Didn’t she…had something like a trauma after all things that had happened to her family? I never saw you with her after killing your mother…that’s strange. I even forgot her name but I remember yours…Jade! Jade, isn’t it? Woah, what a nice name! But wait, you changed your name so shouldn’t I call you Dae? You’re pretty successful now…too bad your father did not have any trust and hope left in his daughters and decided to borrow money instead!“

„Like you are any better! You got all the wealth…but here you are almost facing death! How bizarre! Must feel like sh*t having everything but nothing at the same time, doesn’t it, Mr. Park? But don’t worry…i won’t let you leave this world with nothing“, bending on her knees, she laid her hands on the side of the chair, gazing directly into the eyes of the man that had exposed the fear in his eyes, „I will make you leave with pain…with horror with regret and with disgusting memories of yourself!“

„Mr. Jun! Take my men here and let them do the rest of the work!“, Mr. Jun immediately nodded, head slightly bowed.

„Have a nice day here in the basement! Don’t worry, you’ll get some company in some minutes!“, she smirked, straightening her body before leaving with her best man following behind her.

As they both left the room and sneaked secretly back into the main building, Mr. Jun couldn’t help but ask some questions to his boss.

„Are you okay Mrs. Kang?“
„I don’t know…I feel hurt but I also feel proud that I was able to catch the two people who have hurt my family. The other may rot in jail but the second one is here with me and I will be making sure he gets everything back!“, Dae explained her emotions briefly before being attacked with the next question.
„About that Mrs. Kang…isn’t it better if we hand him to the police? I mean…hurting someone isn’t your thing to do after all“

Dae stopped on her tracks, standing right in front of her office door now, facing Mr. Jung with a cold expression.

„If someone killed your family…would you let that someone only rot in prison? While you are trying to forget the memories of your childhood and having a sister not remembering you or anything else that had happened to her? Wouldn’t you want to add pain to that someone who took everything away from you?“
Mr. Jun remained still and silent, internally having the response „no" which he couldn’t let to sound out loud.

Not waiting for an answer, Dae pushed the doors open, immediately coming to a halt by the sight that made her blood freeze.

Kaen was holding a blue, uniform. His grip on that piece of clothing was tighter than ever and although heading the door being pushed open, he couldn’t avert his eyes away from what he was holding. What Dae saw at the end made her almost cry. The name tag on Kaen’s other hand.

This is when Kaen turned around. Mr. Jun witnessed and understood the situation instantly as he returned to the hallway, closing the door behind himself.

As soon as he was gone, Kaen spoke up with tears in his eyes and a shaky voice that caused a crack in the middle of his words.

„Why? Why did you lie?“

Dae didn’t know what to do except coming a step forward to the broken figure whose grip had tightened even more on the uniform. This uniform was always here in this office yet you never got to the idea of Kaen ever finding it.

His next question caught Dae off guard.

„I was right, wasn’t I? You’re Jade! Mae Jade! The girl who saved me from him, from my father!“

Dae nodded, biting her bottom lip, her green doe eyes piercing the ground. And before she knew it, she was welcomed by two strong arms wrapped around her body. She was brought to a tight embrace.

„That’s all I needed to hear!“, Kaen whispered, his head snuggling in between her neck, taking in the scent of his guardian angel, „I missed you Jade!“

Disliking to admit it, but Dae also called Jade had missed him too. Her short arms were hugging the very tall figure back.

„I missed you too clingy sock!“, Kaen immediately backed away, his wide brown eyes coming in contact with hers.

„You remember the nickname you gave me?!“, this made him get a fist knocked on his head.

„I gave you the nickname, so of course I should be remembering, right?“, and again Kaen’s arms were wrapped around the woman’s body.

„Kaen? I need to tell you everything! So…you better listen and get prepared of might even hating me after hearing the things that happened to me and…my sister!“
