An hour and forty five minutes later, we approached a huge metallic gate at the far end of a street with two armed security men standing at the gate.

When they saw it was Vera's Porsche, the gates immediately open and I drive through slowly.

The men saluted us but Vera takes no notice as we pass them. There is a narrow road lined with trees which were all red and orange because of the weather. Autumn really was an awesome time of the year right after a hot weather that's summer and a cold weather which is winter.

It took us about thirty seconds to reach the actual house and it looked like a castle.

This castle and its enclosure are built at the top of a cliff. Really. It was surrounded with some kind of mist giving it a mysterious feeling

'You live here?' I asked in awe. Teni and Carter were shocked as well

'Its okay' she shrugged

'So, where is your mom?' I asked as we drove down the lane

'She went back to Idaho for some time. That's where I'm from. We moved here when I was ten' Vera said, turning her attention back to her phone

Coming within a mile, I can see the house through the mist and it looked expensive; I could not begin to explain the décor.

We pulled up to the front of the house and another security man opened the door for Vera and the right door of the car. He bows slightly at Vera and mutters 'miss'. Vera took no note of them and walked to the door with us trailing close behind her. The castle was magnificent.

My eyes strained to see anything odd but the only unusual thing I saw was an excess in wealth.

She led us up three flights of stairs before we came to a well furnished living room. We walked past it to a room where the door was wide open. It was her suite, furnished in the color purple just like mine. Well, just like the one I used to have

Teni squealed, clapping her hands 'I love purple'

'Your room inspired me,' Vera said, gesturing to some comfortable couches in the corner as she walked towards her fridge 'Mine is newly refurbished' she walks to us balancing four cans of Smirnoff, four glass cups, a bowl of ice and two jumbo packets of crisps, one Doritos, the other walkers.

I sulked but kept my mouth shut as Teni compared everything in the room to hers. Carter

looked at me expectantly but I just smiled and opened my can drink.

'Ooh I love Doritos!' she grabbed it off the table. I dipped my hand in the pack but Teni just stared at me

'What?' I asked. I also noticed how Vera sat especially close to Carter and popping the pack of walkers open, she offered him some, batting her eyelashes.

Anger fumed up in me but I calmed myself. Did she even notice he was at least two years younger than her?

'Don't you hate these? You've always loved walkers 'Teni said. The annoying thing was that, she's the one that had always been in love with walkers. I smiled a fake smile and shrugged

'I've decided to try new things' I answered sweetly. Vera looked at me for a second then looked away

'Smurf will be here in ten minutes' she said munching walkers

'Why do you call him Smurf? Why not just call him 'dad'?' I asked. She just shrugged and opened her Smirnoff

'So can you tell me what's going on?' Carter asked looking at me but Vera jumped to explain. I grit my teeth and stand. They all look up at me and I fidgeted on my feet
