I sigh softly to myself as I bin a pair of gloves and tuck my hair out of my face. It was the end of my shift, and Sue was looking after Nicky. The Cullen's had invited Bella and I to play baseball with them. Not my favourite sport, but I had agreed. I still had to make use of Carlisle's home office library, Which is why my feet were carrying me towards his Work office. Abuela's funeral had been a few days ago, everyone had fun and we celebrated her life. We all knew that she would hate it if we were miserable. I smile softly to myself and study the floor, I had never actually noticed the flecks of gold on the linoleum. I walk into something hard and fly backwards, I reach my hands out to keep my balance when someone grabs my upper arms, I flush red and look up to see Carlisle smirking at me with an eyebrow raised. "I was testing your reflexes" I mutter, averting my eyes from his. He chuckles "I'm sure you were" He says, stepping backwards. The flush recedes, and I look up at him. His golden eyes flicker with amusement, and I open my mouth to speak when my pager goes off. I read it and sigh "There goes my info session on Elementals" I mutter, noticing Carlisle's eyes widen slightly. "You know about them don't you?" I accuse, narrowing my eyes. He sighs "I know a little" He says, I nod and he takes my pager and types a few things. "Samantha has got you covered" He says, showing the reply. I nod and take the pager and slip it into my bag. "Let's get out of here shall we?" He says, offering me his arm. I raise an eyebrow at him, "How gentlemanly of you" I say and tuck my hand into the crook of his arm. He chuckles and starts to walk towards the carpark. "Where's Nicky?" He asks, I smile "Sue's. Soon she'll be giving him all of the cookies and I won't get any" I pout and he smirks, "Or maybe she'll teach him how to bake and he can make them for you" He says, I blow a strand of hair out of my face and move towards the revolving doors.We walk towards his car and he pulls open the passenger door door me, I augh and climb into the passenger seat, lowering myself onto the soft leather. The door closes with a slam as he closes it behind me. I watch as he walks around the front of the car, taking note of his physique, Not for the first time. Carlisle was the definition of Handsome, and I'd have been a fool not to notice it. He gets into the car and starts it up, driving carefully out of the parking lot. I raise an eyebrow at the slow pace, "Can't you go faster?" I ask, I notice a smirk tugging at his lips and the engine revs as he presses down on the accelerator. The surroundings blur, and the speed of the car pushes me back into my seat, my heart speeds up and I laugh "I didn't mean drive at the speed of light" I mutter, his eyebrow quirks and he glances at me, "The speed of light is-" I cut him off with my hand "Please do not tell me the actual speed of light. I think it would kill me. I despised Physics in School" I say with a groan. He laughs and takes a different turn off, "Where are we going?" I ask, He looks at me with a grin, "We're going to play baseball" He says, pulling up next to Emmett's jeep and Alice's new car.

I climb out of the car just as Edward pulls up in his Volvo. Carlisle takes my hand and leads me through the woods until we reach a large clearing, I smirk at Carlisle "You're going down" I say, He laughs and shakes his head at me, I glance in Edwards direction and grin. I could remember Carlisle telling me that he was the fastest. 'EDWARD!' I scream in my head, he looks towards me, looking confused at the serene smile on my face. 'You need to help me beat Carlisle' I say, my smile turning into a wicked smirk. He rolls his eyes at me but nods once and I grin, pleased with myself. We take our places and I stand next to Bella and sling an arm around her waist. She smiles at me before going back to watching Edward. I watch as Alice makes her way to the middle and Emmett, Jasper and Edward stand around her. I look towards Esme, who crouches behind the home base. Rose takes the bat first and hits it with a loud Bang after Alice throws it. She takes off and Esme places her foot on the line and waits for the ball. "C'mon Rose!" I yell smiling when she gains more speed. Emmett throws it back and Esme catches it just before Rose slides across the line. "You're out" Bella says, Rose stands slowly, a snarl curling her lip, she spins on her heel and stalks past Carlisle, "Nice kitty" he says with a teasing grin. "Sorry babe!" Emmett yells, she smiles softly and I grin at Carlisle as he takes the bat, "How much do you want to bet I'll beat you?" He says, twirling the bat in his hands. "Oh, Dr. Cullen is competitive." I say, my grin turning into a smirk. He raises an eyebrow at the tone of my voice, "How about..." I trail off when something pops into my head, I hear Edward snort but ignore him, "A kiss" I say, smirking even more at the surprise on his face, he regains his composure though and smirks "Alright, the bet goes both ways" He says, "Ok! Stop flirting and play!" Alice yells, my neck flushes and I turn away from Carlisle, but watch as he hits the ball and takes off. It's not until then that I realise what he said. "Hey! That's not fair! Either way you get a Kiss!" I yell at him, crossing my arms, Rose watches as Emmett climbs a tree "My monkey man" She says proudly. Carlisle slides across the line, and gets to his feet smirking at me. Esme catches the ball and quickly tosses it to Alice. I glare at Carlisle but he lifts his hands up with an innocent look plastered on his face, I take the bat from his hand and pass it to Rose who laughs. Alice throws the ball and Rose hits it, hard. I start running only to notice Edward run after the ball. I stop in my tracks, "Traitor!" I yell after him and start running at my very slow human pace. I stop when I reach their second base and fall backwards. "I give up!" I yell, and lay there catching my breath, god my stamina isn't what it used to be. I hear everyone laughing, "Stop!" Alice yells, her voice filled with fear. I get to my feet quickly and start making my way back at a light jog, I was already so out of breath. "They're coming!" She says, within a second Carlisle is next to me, a stony look on his face. Edward rushes out of the woods towards Bella, and Carlisle wraps an arm around my waist lifting me off the ground and speeding towards the others. "We have to leave" Edward says to Bella and I. "There isn't time" Carlisle says, his voice strained. I chew my lip "I'm going to take a wild guess, the vampires that killed Waylon?" I ask, Carlisle nods once and stands directly in front of me, blocking my slight frame from view. I close my eyes and take deep slow breaths, I hear the distinct sound of voices, and feel Carlisle's hand move. A gust of wind rushing by me. "Some of us were just leaving" I hear Carlisle say and my eyes snap open. A gust of wind makes Bella's hair flutter, and I peek around Carlisle's arm, three vampires, one red head, one blond and one with dark skin and hair. "You brought a snack" The blonde growls, tilting his head creepily to the side. He speeds forward and Edward kicks him hard in the chest. Fury flows through my veins, and the mans jacket catches fire. She would've thought that it was a coincidence, but she knew on some instinctual level that it had been her. He yells as the flames lick his face and rips the jacket off and tosses it to the ground. "I think you should leave" Carlisle says, not moving a muscle. The dark skimmed man grabs the other and holds him back, "Yes. We'll be going now" He says, he starts backing away slowly "James. Victoria." He snaps, the man and woman snarl at us before they disappear into the woods. Nobody moves until Edward grabs Bella and starts pulling her towards her truck. Carlisle tugs me towards his car and I have to jog to keep up. "Why is Edward so worried?" I ask, feeling like I was missing a huge point. "James is a tracker, which means they don't stop until they catch their prey" He says. Realisation strikes me like a bucket of ice water. "And Bella is his prey" I say, speeding up. I quickly climb into the car and pull my seat belt on. I had no idea what was going to happen next and that bugged the utter hell out of me.
