Ch.45 - Golden Moments

"Shiketsu has the lead, there's no way UA can over-take them now! But what's this?! UA's Saino is bolting of after receiving the baton from Bakugo. She's coming in hot, but is it enough?!" The reporter was talking as if he had no air to breathe, though this only built more suspense to those watching.

Katsumi, after having the baton slapped into her hand took off from her jog turning it into a sprint. She was upset, angry, having a moment of self loathing. How were they winning? That couldn't last, she wouldn't let it, even if she was angry at herself for not making enough progress.

Hana had at least a 10 meter lead, most people in the audience confirming to themselves that Shiketsu would win. Katsumi was running as fast as her legs would allow, though currently her mind was in a state similar to that at the sports festival.

She could see Hana getting closer as she closed the gap, though with so little track left, would it be enough? The crowd cried out in excitement seeing what was coming of the race. The two girls being what the two rival schools relied on.

Katsumi's feet hit the floor as fast as she could, she felt herself going faster than she had ever felt before. She felt good knowing this, though seeing Hana's blonde hair still in front of her, her eyes were filled with a serious determination. Whoever won this race, would win the whole competition, and as much Katsumi loved her best friend, she wasn't going to let that happen.

The two girls were tying, their schools cheering them on. Shiketsu so desperate for one win, and UA desperate to have an all across the board win. It may seem selfish for the latter, but it wasn't just that; these four first years were something else, and their talents deserved to be known.

The two girls had a serious face, though one knew what her fate was, and with as little jealousy in her heart, said "You can do it Mimi."

It was quiet, only Katsumi hearing it. Katsumi smiled, and even if this was a bitter sweet moment no matter the consequences, she replied "I'll make you proud." The crowd couldn't hear them talking, but knew that the race would soon come to an end, three quarters of the track having being covered.

Katsumi began to over-take Hana, her speed one of a champion. The sweat and intense grip on her baton only made the situation more real, Hana could still beat her. If that were to happen, she knew she'd never be able to let it go.

Her luscious brown hair whipped through the wind created due to her sheer speed, the crowd, not believing their eyes at what had come of the race. Katsumi felt herself getting closer to the finish line, though she wasn't comfortable with the gap she had with Hana; even if it was getting increasingly bigger.

A meter away was all it took, her foot crossing the finish line first. For once, she ran with a smile; feeling on top of the world. If at all possible, the crowd cheered louder, the champion school being revealed. As Katsumi stopped running, she was jumping up and down and screaming in excitement, her three teammates running over.

Cameras swarmed Katsumi, her smile being wider than she ever remembered. Katsuki was the first to get to Katsumi, and she did something she'd never regret. She jumped up and hugged him, and he hugged her back. Both of them felt as though this wasn't real, they'd wake up in their bedrooms in a few minutes, the dream being a figment of what they truly desired.

He hugged her back, forgetting that there were millions of people watching, including their parents........ Katsumi didn't know when it began, whether it was when Tetsutetsu and Kendo joined the group hug, but she was crying. Though unlike a month ago, it was out of pure happiness.
