When I woke, Jake was across the room getting dressed. It looked like he had just gotten out the shower.

"You feeling better?" he asked.

"Yeah," I nodded leaning up.

I was still numb but I did feel better than I did yesterday. I couldn't bear to cry anymore tears even if I wanted to, it just wasn't in me.

"I'm really sorry about your breakup, that's got to suck," Jake said trying to sound sincere.

"Well.. I mean I did cheat," I shrugged. "It's on me."

"Yep, and partly me," he chuckled.

"Jake..."

"My bad, this is not the time to laugh or make jokes," he assured himself.

"So do you remember what happened that night?"

"I remember exactly what happened," he smirked.

"Stop," I smiled a little. "Do you remember telling me that I was going to regret it."

"Yeah."

"Well I don't," I shrugged.

"Seriously?" He asked shocked.

"Yeah, That's one of the reasons Chase and I broke up. He asked me was it a mistake and I couldn't say that."

"Damn..."

"Yep," I said blandly.

"So I'm assuming you want to talk about it," he laughed.

"Fucking douche."

"Sorry," he said taking a seat on the bed. "Let's talk."

"So... where do we go from here?"

"What do you mean?" He asked puzzled.

"We kissed, we slept together... you mean something to me.. I'm pretty sure I mean something to you.. there's a solution.." I said, raising my eyebrows.

"And what solution is that?"

"You are so fucking dumb," I said, rolling my eyes.

"You want to be together?" He laughed.

"If that's what you want....." I shrugged.

Jake burst into laughter leaving me confused. What the hell is funny?

"No Em," he said flatly.

"What do you mean no?" I scrunched up.

"I'm not going to be with you."

"But.. we...."

He interrupted, "I know what we did but I'm not a rebound."

"I never said you were."

"You just got out of a relationship and you're already saying you want to be with me."

"I said if that's what you what," I snapped.

"So it's not what you want?"

"I don't know what I want Jake," I sighed.

"Exactly. So calm down and get yourself together. You're beautiful and smart, act like it," he said harshly.

"Sure," I mumbled.

"Deal with reality for a moment, I'll still be here afterwards," he assured.

"Okay," I nodded.

"I'm going to baseball practice, I'll see you later okay?"

I nodded as he walked out of the room. Talk about rejection.
