Synopsis:

Lin Cong has a very good face and a good personality, his only flaw was...he was too stingy. He entered the entertainment circle to make money, but soon he saw his parents in the building of a well-known luxury brand.

Father & Mother Lin: We didn't want you to know that we are rich because we are afraid you will grow up spoiled and arrogant so we never showed up in public.

Lin Cong: ???

However, his stingy personality has long been deeply rooted in the hearts of the people. After being exposed to driving a luxury car and living in a villa...

Fan A: Cub, don't pretend to be rich, your poor mother will support you!

Fan B: Don't forcefully setup our Lin Lin as a rich second generation, our Lin Lin is very poor, can he afford to drive a luxury car?

Lin Cong: ???

The marketing account tried to discredit Lin Cong: Shocking! After Lin Cong became popular, he never invited anyone to eat a meal! Rude and ungrateful!

People at the same crew: Don't talk nonsense! Lin Cong is simply our life mentor!

Lin Cong: What did I do???

...

Fei Lang sits on hundreds of millions of industries and meets a good-looking but stingy young man in the entertainment circle. He spends money on the little star, but he doesn't appreciate it.

Later...

Fei Lang: There are ten million in this card, so you can buy something delicious for yourself.

Lin Cong: How come you only have ten million left?

Fei Lang: ???

Lin Cong: Do I need to lend you some money?

Fei Lang felt that he had a deep misunderstanding of Lin Cong's 'stinginess'

Impressions: This is a...surprising novel for me, because from the summary, I thought it would be comedy for sure, but the result was not just that, it still has comedy but it also has some light emotional drama/a bit distressing for our MC. It's HE, of course~~

Quick summary: As per the synopsis, our MC grew up thinking their family was poor. He enters the entertainment circle to earn money, encounters many different things because everyone thinks he is poor and has no background. Laters, his parents tell him that in fact, they are VERY RICH! And he has to adapt to his new identity. MC happens to catch the attention of our very rich and workaholic ML  early on, and our ML wants to help him (using his money and influence)and MC keeps trying to tell him (and his fans) that he is not poor and also has a background now. (the comedy part XD)

Our MC is very mature for his age. As a left-behind child (MC parents is working all-year round), he is very independent and sensible. His thoughts were very simple, his parents must be busy working because they are POOR  so he enters the entertainment circle to make money, he wants them to stop working so hard like "Look, I will earn the money, so please come home and accompany me.".

I'm glad that MC didn't grow up crooked like other spoiled rich second generations, but he also didn't grow up happily. Their family is so rich and his parents are busy earning money but he didn't even get to enjoy it. With our MC's thrifty setting, he probably never hang out with classmates outside of school (He didn't even own an umbrella cos he feels its a waste of money). So our MC didn't enjoy material happiness AND his parent's companionship. Yes, MC grew up excellent but I can't say that this is because of his parents' family-pretended-to-be-poor strategy.

In fact, MC grew up a little insecure, he didn't dare to dream of too-good things. When his parents' friend asked, what if you are actually super rich?  MC only said that its better to think of their actual situation instead of what-if things that will never happen. When he first became friends with ML, his first thought was how far apart their status is. And even after finding out that their family is actually rich, he always felt inadequate like this kind of things don't belong to him.

When his parents' casual words can dismiss a person that MC didn't even dare to fight (cos of his poor background). There was a kind of imbalance. Like MC shouldn't have grown up like this, he should be born proud and not the kind that could only endure his hardships in silence cos he can't afford to fight back.

The villains MC meet are all unreasonable people who are proud and looks down on MC. I actually find it disgusting :/ MC is actually sensitive...but he's also very sensible so he keeps telling himself to ignore those things and try not to get affected cos that's the only thing he can do.

Our MC's struggle is really that lie. He couldn't help thinking, if he and the people around him knew earlier that he has a good background, would they not trouble him again and again? Would he not experience being betrayed by a senior he trusted, being stepped on by others for hype just because they can. It's useless to think about it because the damage is done. Our MC HAS already experienced those things. That 10-year 'white lie' affected MC very much. It felt like what he was working so hard on (to earn money so he can call back his family) was like a huge joke and he instantly lost his goal/direction. #SPOILER He even rejected ML's confession because of this cos ML is also rich so he must be very busy. And in a relationship, our MC doesn't need sweetness or romance, he just wants someone who can stay with him cos he grew up lonely. #SPOILER SPOILER(?) MC & ML agrees to be together later on (Of course!)

The light drama are short and interspersed. MC is really such a good child, and he forgives his parents pretty quick. I just feel really bad for our MC~~ *huggles* But there are also a lot of comedy because of our MC 'stingy' setting and trying to prove that he's rich but no one would believe XD

Ending is a bit abrupt (Meeting the family) and there's no Extras so there was no coming-out-in-public episode.

Anyways, try this for a short quick read about the entertainment circle~ And not really character growth (MC is already mature) but  more like character exploration(?), cos it shows how a person's environment when growing up affects/shapes their personality.  (At least FOR ME, it  really made me think more about our MC~~)
