Synopsis:

Returning to his childhood, re-experiencing the turbulent 1980s and 990s. Their mother died young and his father remarried, what to do if the adults are unreliable? Then, you should be self-reliant! But what can he do at a young age?

Getting rich started from earning manuscript fees and ended up accidentally on the richest writer's list.

He helped a big, fierce man and the other party stuck to him and couldn't get rid of it again.

Then let's just get rich together.

He originally wanted to train a newcomer, why did they guy become the coal boss in the end?

Li Lei: Xiao Yu, you are clearly the President!

Impressions: Got confused in the end on who's the shou and the gong on this relationship. I was so sure that MC was the shou but the ending is making me have second thoughts. XD

So our MC was reborn when he was a kid. I don't think his pre-rebirth self was ever clearly mentioned. It was mentioned though that they had a hard time because of their stepmother. For example, her sister's marriage was miserable cos their stepmother married her to a bad man. Anywayyys, MC was reborn as a kid when the stepmother was just newly married. His dad is a technical worker in a coal mine owned by the state, so their standard of living is okay (not too poor or too rich)

In order to earn money, MC wrote children stories and submitted them to magazines with the help of ML. ML is an orphaned kid living in the same unit, he has a violent reputation but he is good to MC. He decided to treat MC as his 'younger brother', always worried that he would be bullied cos he is so much younger than their classmates (MC skipped grades and became ML's classmates). Because MC knows that ML's aunt/uncle never gives him money, he gives ML several money-making ideas so ML can save up money for his own tuition in the future.

After getting his stories publish, MC got a LOT of manuscript fees. He decided to buy his own shop and let his Aunt manage it. They set up a rental bookstore and then a video rental store. Laters, he got more money from the manuscript and the store's profits and bought stocks. He waited until it got to the highest price and then sold it all with the price increasing several times. They opened a video arcade store and lent money for ML to buy a house in the county so he can moved out of his Uncle's place and become neighbors again with MC.

Timeskip and MC is studying now on a highschool in the provincial capital, ML worked extra hard on his studies so he can get admitted on a technical school  in the provincial capital as well. Anyways, he takes care of MC's life during the weekends (since he lives in the dormitory) cooking for him and stuff. Laters, he discovers his mind that he likes MC and was immediately worried that he is weird cos he never knew that boys can like boys. ML is sooo pure and its so distressing cos he is so humble to MC saying that he will always remain brothers with MC and that when MC gets married and have kids, he will take care of MC's kids as well.

Then MC gets admitted to a University in the Capital and ML follows again. He didn't go to college but became a taxi driver instead. He lives with MC and takes care of his life. After testing/bullying ML again and again, MC eventually agrees to be with him. Actually, ML's initial goal was to become a coal mine boss cos he remembered MC say that it would be profitable when they were kids. When he heard that some coal mines can be contracted, he tells MC and MC invests and let him be the coal mine Boss. Ending is MC's 18th birthday and him and ML rolling in the sheets (Blame the MTL but it kinda sounds like ML is the shou...???? doubtinglife.jpg)

I like the childhood arc which is pretty long (2/3 of the novel) and most of it is about MC's writing career and business investments. ML really treats MC as a younger brother, coaxing him, going along with his money-making plans (the stocks) just so the little guy won't sulk if no one supports him. Not much about MC's family. Author-sama made the stepmother go away (she went away to do business and only came back near the ending), MC's dad isn't involve in MC's businesses (MC Dad is actually quite good though) and even the sister which MC vowed to protect is reduced to the background. Truthfully, MC's aunt's family has more exposure cos MC would often look for them for business matters.

Romance is not much either. After ML discovers his thoughts, he told MC about it right away and promised him that its okay for them to stay as 'brothers'. Like I said, its very distressing how he is so humble to MC. In fact, their relationship is really unbalanced since ML is always the one working  hard to maintain it. When MC's family moved out of the coal miner's unit and moved to the county, MC thought they would eventually lose contact. But then, ML borrowed money from him just so they could be neighbors; same when MC moved the provincial capital, ML worked hard to improve his grades to catch up and when MC moved to the Capital, ML straight out dropped his studies to follow him. And it just feels bad for me cos ML is really innocent and confused about his sexuality/feelings for MC, whereas MC already has a mature mind/completely aware of it and he has this mentality of watching the fun/tossing ML (Its not malicious, but I feel bad for ML).

So yeah, my favorite part is the llooongg childhood arc, its a fun arc, just two kiddos getting rich through their own ideas~ MC makes big business and ML does small ones. Started to dislike MC a bit when the romance happened cos he keeps tossing our confused teen ML. It doesn't feel sad/dramatic though since ML has an optimistic personality.

Read this for MC-focused rebirth, not much about family or revenge etc.
