Synopsis:

As an outstanding figure in the grim reaper industry, there were no souls under the heavens that Lu Xu could not collect.

One day, he was given an undercover mission to investigate the mystery of how Film Emperor Ji Xiunian managed to escape death so many times. Seeing that the Film Emperor was going to be a mentor on an idol survival show, Lu Xu had a flash of inspiration and signed up as a contestant.

He originally planned on taking this person away after completing his investigation. However, he accidentally ended up debuting in center position.

At the age of five, Ji Xiunian was prophesied to remain lonely his entire life. The people around him were either dead or grievously hurt.

He expected to be alone his entire life and never imagined there would be an exception—not only did his luck take a turn after meeting Lu Xu, the demons and ghosts by his side had dispersed.

Ji Xiunian had never dated in the ten years since he debuted. The only scandal he had was regarding Lu Xu.

Fans thought this was just a tactic to boost a newbie's popularity. They never imagined that the cold Film Emperor himself would come out to clarify—it's not a scandal, he's my destiny.

Impressions: Oooh, if not for the synopsis, its totally possible to imagine that our MC might be a little wolf dog gong instead. It's fun to think about ^^

So our MC is the top Grim Reaper in Death Division, with high collection performance every time. This time, he gets sent into an undercover mission to observe our ML and discover the means he's using to 'avoid death' cos according to their records, ML should've died a long time ago but he's still alive and well. To get closer to ML, MC enters an idol draft show since ML was one of the judges there. MC is talented so as he competes with other idol trainees, he always come up on top.  Our MC is also a workaholic so when he encounters ghosts during his idol training, he still does his Grim Reaper job. Because of this, ML has a misunderstanding that these ghosts are haunting MC and he must protect him! (Cute ^^)

Laters, ML thought that MC must be some kind of exorcist(?)/psychic expert since he can 'send away' ghosts to the after life. And he feels touched cos he thinks MC must be protecting him!! (Lol) Anyways, they later discovered the truth that MC is a Grim Reaper and #SPOILER ML is also one (well, half-Grim Reaper due to his Grim Reaper Mom) that's why the death qi surrounding him is so strong (and not because he's dying/near-death). He became MC's colleague/work partner after. Anyways, there are some small cases here and there as they do their Grim Reaper missions, and slooowwly determine their relationship. ML is trying to get closer to MC little by little and it's very cute. MC doesn't reject it and just enjoys ML's smol advances. They eventually get together, and #spoiler came out together in public, in the human world and the ghost world. Extras is their marriage three years later.

MC isn't OP, at least he hasn't displayed other skills yet, but he's very capable whether in work or in idol training. He is actually more than 200 y/o so he's very mature and steady. (A bit curious on his past life). MC is just very smooth in everything he does. On the other hand, ML is very cute, very shy, easy to be happy on little things. He's a very sweet gong, and there are times that feels like he's being...spoiled(?) to MC and MC lets him (Little wolf dog!) Whether its their couple or work partner relationship, its very nice and the cases they pick up as Grim Reapers are all interesting.

I guess, another nice thing about this is, there are lessons since its about death. Like being careful (Warning signs are there for a reason) or don't ignore your own health thinking that you're still young or overworking yourself to death. Consume rationally, don't take out loans just so you can buy yourself the latest phone (there was one guy who committed suicide cos he got buried in debt) or if your parents refused your marriage partner twice, there might be a good reason for it (Husband was a murderer!). The longer cases were like mini-arcs in themselves, and there was a budding side CP which unfortunately still hasn't gotten together till the end of the story (There's also MC's very mysterious and very smart cute cat who's a foodie)

Overall, this was quite fun to read. Not much faceslapping despite being entertainment circle (the idol trainees are good bois) or horror despite our MC being a God of Death and all. Read for sugar and fluff ^^
