Synopsis:

An IF-Line if the protagonist of Ice Skating is More Suitable for Me to Participate in the Olympics is not reborn.

12-year-old Zhang Jue suddenly received a call during ballet class. His parents and younger brother had a car accident while driving to pick him up from class. His mother protected his father and became a vegetative.

The cost of treatment for comatose patient is there. The father who does not want to give up his wife went to Beijing to work, while Zhang Jue and his younger brother are fostered in the home of his uncle Zhang Junbao, who is a figure skating coach.

As he got along with his uncle, his four years of quiet figure skating talent began to emerge, pushing him to the court.

Impressions:  ​Done with the IF Line, this one is just sports, not much BL.

As mentioned in my previous review on the main line, this is an AU where our MC was not reborn. His family still got into a car accident, but instead of dying, dad and Lil bro was safe and their mom ended up comatose.

Like in the main line, our MC got int​​o figure skating with impure motives. On the rebirth line, he entered figure skating to make his Uncle happy (and quit once he grew taller) and this time, he entered in order to earn money. Our MC is much more of a bear kid here cos he's a real kid (not a reborn adult) and we witness his character growth.. How he became more..sensible. Thinking of being an athlete as a 'job', taking care of his lil bro and comatose mom, wanting to earn more money so his Dad can stay home for the New Year. As an athlete, he experienced the hardships of training like in the main line and really kudos to him for gritting his teeth and bearing with it considering that he should not have the adult mentality his reborn self had.

Anyways, more on competition and encountering the same problems in the main line: injuries/accidents, helping other players etc. We see our MC competing again, but choosing different songs etc. He gets along well with ML like a Big Brother next door. Nothing romantic yet. Ending is the two of them going on a roadtrip after MC's college entrance exam.

This is fun to read. Lots of figure skating knowledge, more songs/films to check out. MC is as lovable as ever and ML as well (although he has few screentime) plus we get more knowledge about MC's family and coaches which was not mentioned in the main line. I'm glad that author-sama kept it short though cos even though I liked our MC's character growth and how he handles his problems as a kid...but since he encounters almost the same problem, it was very similar the main line. Read this for figure skating and little bear kids getting into trouble. Lol.
