Chapter 10: Chick-Fil-A

I came home that night to a dark home and snoring parents. I went in my parents' room to just see my dad awake. "Hey dad." I said. He looked over at me and smiled. "Nia, how is April?" He asked. "Oh she's good. She's having a baby girl and we just went to celebrate at a karaoke bar." I tell him. "A karaoke bar?" He questioned. I nodded, "Yup, it was Beth's idea." He nods. He has one of those head rest things around his neck. His eyes were closing, that was my cue to go to bed. "Goodnight Daddy." I kiss his cheek. He wakes up for a quick second. "Goodnight."

I go into my room and plop on my bed. I was too tired to get up, but changed my shirt and into some flannel pants. I grab my phone and look through it before I go to bed. I see picture of that stupid concert flyer and I groan. I remembered that I have to go to that with Aiden on Friday. I decide to play music as I sleep to get my mind off of everything else.

I wake up earlier than usual with pain in my stomach and I automatically know that it's from. I get up and go the bathroom and look under the sink for protection. I do my business and go back to bed. Only to be shot with another cramp.

"Nia honey it's time to get up," She stops when she see me already up. "Oh you're already up." She says. I nod. "I'm going to stop by the store, I won't be late." I promised. My mom gave me a look, and then left the room.

I arrive at school the same time Beth pulls up. She gets out the car and rushes towards me. "You having a bad morning too?" I give a sad sigh. "Yes."

(Kari Talk: Butt spams/cramps are real. I don't know if I'm the only one who gets them but they feel just like cramps but in your butt. I know, weird, but one time I had them at the same time and I woke up crying. Anyway back to the story)

We go inside the school and Bronx meets us at my locker. "Hey there ladies." He greeted  I wave at him. "How was your morning?" He cheerily asked. I turn around and look at him. "Alright, what is up with you? Why are you so happy?" He shrugs. "Does that blond Katy Perry have to do something with it?" Beth asked. He shrugs again. "Maybe," He smiles.

"She agreed to go the concert in the park with me on Friday."

I close my locker. "Why am I the only one who didn't know that existed?"

Beth shrugs, "I don't know, I always forget when it comes in town. I usually go with Bronx and all my cousins, but since you're going with Aiden I don't want to end up being a third wheel or being stuck with my family so I'm going to just go with Bronx and..." She trails off; looking at Bronx for the name of the girl he was talking about. "Kieran." He answers. "Yeah her."

"You'll still be going with family and being a third wheel with Bronx." I point out. "I'm just riding with them, after that I'm going to hang by myself until I meet someone else." She clarifies. I nod, "Alright, don't get kidnapped." I tell her.

She hits my arm. "I'm not going to get kidnapped." She says something angry in Spanish. And I look at Bronx to translate. "She said she would knee a guy where the sun doesn't shine if he tries to kidnaps her."

I look at the both of them. "Alright well I think it's time for us to go our separate ways." They nod. "I'll save your seat in class." Bronx says to me. He walks off first.

"Hey." Beth whispers to me as we watch him walk off. "What, why are you whispering?" She ignores my question. "I think his crush on you has gone away." She says. I totally forgot that about Bronx. Now that I thinking about him, I feel like she was right. "You may be right." I tell her. She shushes me. "I know I'm right." "Alright well I'm going to go."
