Enid's POV

I had been following a gopher for a few minutes, but I couldn't think straight after my argument with Carl.

It was like he trusted Lydia more than me.

The gopher came into sight, tearing me from my thoughts.

I lightly stepped forward, trying to get close enough to stab it.

Suddenly, a voice broke through the silence, scaring the gopher away.

"Hey, Enid!"

I gave a frustrated groan, and turned around to yell at the person who scared away the animal.

I stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Lydia pointing her gun at me.
