Nikki's P.O.V.

"What is this, some milatary weapon base or something?"  I asked in shock, as my eyes landed on the rows of tanks that were sitting in the far corner of the room.

Yeah, that's right, I said tanks.  Not like a goldfish tank, but an actual 10ft long, camouflage army  tank.  It would have been cool if it wasn't so scary

The walls were armed with rifles, shotguns, snipers, and about any other gun you can imagine.  I couldn't help but back up as I looked at it all, and I felt myself brushing up against something soft.  Surprised, I turned around, and I saw what looked like a long row of rain ponchos, hanging up on the wall behind me.

Curiosity got the better of me, and I couldn't help but lift one up and look at it.  What kind of military base had RAIN PONCHOS?

Before I could talk myself out of it, I slipped the soft, thin material over my head.  I waited for something to happen, but I still felt the same.  I was about to take it off, when I saw the expressions on Slink and Tanner's faces.

"Umm, guys, is everything alright?"  I asked, because by their expression, you would have thought they'd seen the flying monkey from the Wizard of Oz or something.

All Slink managed to do was make a strangled croaking in the back of his throat, but Tanner managed to choke out, "Nikki, look down."

"What's he talking about?"  I thought to myself, and then I looked down and almost passed out.

Half of me was gone.

I reached down and felt the invisible rain poncho, or whatever it was, and I found that it still felt the same, only all the parts of me that were covered by it were completely invisible.

You'd probably think, "Oh, it would be cool to be invisible!"  but let me tell you firsthand that it's NOT.  It's actually really creepy.

And since I had carelessly thrown on the rain poncho, it wasn't on me all the way, so that meant part of me was there, and part of me wasn't.  It looked a little like there was holes in me, and if I hadn't been able to feel that I was still there, I wouldn't have believed it myself.

As fast as I could, I grabbed the poncho and threw it off of me, and I breathed a sigh of relief when I looked down and saw that I was fully visible again.

Tanner and Slink were still gaping at me in shock, and I breathed in a shuddery breath.  Well, I wasn't going to try that again anytime soon...

"Attention, Students!"  a loud voice suddenly boomed out, and I looked around to find the speaker.  I finally saw him, it was a large, muscular man, with long, dark hair, a shirt with sleeves that had been ripped off, revealing arms covered in tattoos.  He had unnervingly black eyes, and I felt myself shivering just looking at him.

"I am the Head of Defense here at Hero High, and I am going to remind you that everything you saw in this room must never be spoken of.  This is a very secret facility, and we can't have you going around and blabbering about it to everyone will see.  If you refuse to follow these orders, you will deal with the consequences."

He got an evil glint in his eyes as he said that, and every student in the room looked uncomfortable as he said that, all thinking the same thing- they sure didn't want to have to face whatever consequences he had in mind.

Finally, after a minute or two of awkward silence, the Boss walked up and took the microphone away from the Head of Defense.

"Thank you, Mr. Burle.  You're all probably wondering what you're doing here anyways."  the Boss said to us, and several people nodded.

The Boss continued, "Well, you're in the middle of a Lockdown drill.  As we all know, the students we have here are not like most normal teenagers, and some people would like to take advantage of your abilites, and if this ever happens, than we need you to be prepared."

There was silence, as everybody took this information in, and then a girl raised her hand.  "Why are we doing this all of a sudden?  We've never done anything like this before!  Are we under some kind of threat?"

The Boss looked nervous, and he tugged at his tee shirt uncomfortably for a second, before he answered.  "No, we just decided that it was time we started doing this."

I could tell that he was lying, and apparently so could other people, because a bunch of hands shot up.

The Boss called on another girl, who asked nervously, "What will they do to us?"

The Boss looked like he didn't know how to answer that question, and he finally replied, "With the abilities that a lot of you have, they could do a lot.  There are bad people out there- bank robbers, kidnappers, and even murderers- who would do anything to get their hands on powers like the ones you have.  That's why this school has to be hidden, the government decided that it was too risky to let the public know about people like you."

There was a lot of nervous murmers following his speech, and he quickly assured us "But that's not likely to happen!  It's just a precaution!"

Suddenly, a thought popped into my head, and I raised my hand.

"Nikki?"  the Boss called on me, and I asked, "Why do you need weapons, at a place full of people who have amazing abilities?  What could regular people do to us anyway?  You've got a school of walking, talking weapons right here!"  I motioned to the students around me.  "It's not like anyone stands a chance against us anyway, right?"

The Boss looked me right in the eye, and said the words I'd least been expecting.  "Maybe the people after you arent' just regular enemies."
