When The Candle Stops

Passionate flames

Burning deep into the skin.

Bathing in heat

A pleasurable sin.

Each a single fire

Yet when they unite,

The fires grow

Matches ignite.

Tall is this flame

That touches so many hearts.

But what happens

When one of those hearts, part?

The wind blows

And now only smoke.

Not breathing,

Smothered, the other chokes.

When it comes to

It can see no fire,

So what good

Came from the desire?

When you fall too many times,

And you can't reach the top...

That is what happens,

When the candle stops.

I am so glad she had her poetry to turn to. She so desperately needed to talk to someone about her pain, but most of her family and friends were glad it was over. So I am sure she felt she had no one to turn to that would understand. That is why I think her new "best friend" became her pen and paper.

As I have been sharing her poetry with you, I have often wondered if somewhere deep down inside, she hoped her words and pain would help others some day. I am sure she is watching over me as I share her words, and that she would be as touched as I am at the kindness that has been shown to me. I hope you continue on Nichole's journey with me, and I ask for your vote if you enjoyed her poem.
