Not So Fast

Treasure it while you can.

Love it while it lasts.

Because when you are older

You remember your past.

Do not grow up

Any faster than you must.

Look up to elders

And in their words trust.

If someone looks you

straight in the eye,

And tells you not to hurry things

Think for a second, why would they lie?

Live life to the most

And have a blast being young.

Because when you're older

You will regret, to your childhood you hadn't clung.

One day you will tell

A person the same thing I tell you now.

And you will look back

One moment and realize how

I said what was true

Even though it seemed far fetched.

How I knew what what I had said

And wonder how you made such a mess.

Don't grow up to regret

Like so many do.

Enjoy your innocence

And that will bring you through.

Young people reading this, please keep in mind Nichole was only 23 years old when she died, yet she spoke the words of someone much older. She wished so much that she had done things differently and that she had listened to the people around her.

Please heed her words. You have a lifetime to live, there is no rush to grow up. Nichole went through more in her short years than a lot of people experience in a lifetime. She died with regrets at twenty-three, and that's sad don't you think? Please think about possible repercussions of your actions. I have always told my children the following, and I try to live it. Watch what you say to people, once it comes out you cannot take it back, and words hurt!
