I glared at my reflection in the mirror, as I had been doing for quite some time, and wished to do nothing more than stay in the house. I never enjoyed formal parties. Moreover, formal clothes were really irritating.

There was a knock on the door which startled me, causing me to turn around and look at the door.

"I'm coming in." The door opened and David stood there, smiling. "Shall we go?"

I nodded my head even if I didn't want to go. "We're already running late so it'd be the best to hurry."

We arrived at the party. David and I walked arm in arm towards the entrance where we were welcomed by the host. David introduced me and I pulled on a smile. Then we were showed our seats.

David noticed my expression and sighed. "Are you bored?"

"No, but I'm not interested in formal parties." I said.

A man indicated David to join him so David looked at me and smiled. "Why don't you walk around and try to get acquainted to some people? I'll be back soon."

Saying that, he left and I had to follow his advice. I stood up and walked, not knowing where but still I didn't stop. I felt a hand on my shoulder so I turned around to find someone who surprised me.

"Hello." He said cheekily.

"Eddie! Hi. What are you doing here?" I asked him.

"I was invited. Care to join me for the next dance?" He brought his hand forward but I felt a little uncomfortable.

I started looking around for David but I realised I couldn't find him anymore. "Sorry but I don't think David would like that."

"Oh please, it's just one dance. I'll talk to him if he has any objection." He pouted.

I chuckled before taking his hand. He led me to the place where there were some couples dancing and I felt nervous.

We danced slowly and I knew David would be watching us. My eyes scanned around several times, hoping to find him and at last I spotted him leaning against the wall, glaring at us furiously.

When the song stopped I quickly thanked Eddie and rushed to David.

"Let's go home." He said coldly before I could even utter a single word.

He turned around but I held his arm. "You aren't angry at me for dancing with Eddie, are you?"

He just chuckled. "No. I'm tired." He said this without looking at me.

~

We arrived home but David left again without telling me where he was going. I was worried about him but he told me not to wait for him and just go to sleep. I went to sleep full of anxiety and woke up with the same state. David hadn't come home in the morning and I was even more worried.

"Neymar, did David come by your place?" I said on the phone.

"David never came here." Neymar answered on the other end of the phone. "What happened?"

"Nothing. Sorry for disturbing you. We'll speak some other time. Bye." I quickly hung up.

I walked to the kitchen to grab myself a glass of water, just then I heard the front door open. There was a low sound of footsteps as I made my way out of the kitchen. I saw David, he was drowsy and he could barely open his eyes.

"Where were you?" I cried. "I was so worried about you. Do you even know what time is it?"

"You don't have to worry." He replied in a raspy voice, pushing me aside to go to the room.

But I grabbed his arm. "Are you upset about last night?"

David stared at me and nodded. "Yes. I don't really like it when you're with Eddie. It bothers me to see you with him."

I felt guilty. My hand slipped down from his arm but he got the hold of it and came forward to gently stroke my cheek with his warm hand.

Just then my phone started ringing and he pulled back, allowing me to answer the phone call. It was an unknown number so I hesitated before picking it up. David saw my nervousness and tried to pull on a reassuring smile.

"Hello? It's Eddie here." The voice on the other end of the phone surprised me.

"Hi Eddie." I looked at David, whose smile started to fade away.

"Areesh, I wanted to tell you something. I'm getting married next month and I want David and you to come to England for that. You'll come right?" Eddie sounded cheerful.

"Sure we'll come." I replied before hanging up on him.

My smile came back again as I looked at David. "Eddie is getting married next month. He wants us to come to England for that."

David's eyes went wide open and he laughed. "That's great." He paused and then smirked. "I thought he was into you. I was sort of-"

"Jealous." I giggled as I completed his sentence. I walked closer to him and kept my hands on his shoulders. "You know that you're the only man I love. No one can be compared to you. I can never even think of cheating on you."

"I'm glad." He closed his eyes and kissed my forehead. "Did I ever tell you that I am thankful to God for having you?"

"And I am thankful to God for having you, David. Please don't ever leave me."

"I will never leave you, I swear." He embraced me. "And I'll try not to get jealous next time."
