"He was smaller than the size of my hand." David spoke after a long silence. The ice cream shop was empty and we found a place in the corner where we could be totally alone. "He looked so much like you."

Tears were beginning to well in his eyes and I instantly knew who he was talking about. It made my heart ache as I tried find the correct words to utter.

"Everything happens for a reason." My lips quivered. "We cannot always dwell about the past. It's better to move on."

He smiled, a sign that told me that my reply was adequate. "You are right." After a long pause, he added. "Which flavour do you want to eat?"

"Any flavour would do." I answered.

David stood up and went to get the ice cream. Just then my eyes caught the entrance from which a tall guy entered the shop. He was wearing glasses but that didn't prevent me from recognising him. He hadn't changed a bit.

His eyes met mine and he was shocked. I decided to wave my hand at him so he made his way towards me. "Areesh! It's so good to see you."

"Hi Eddie. When did you come to Brazil?" I stood up and gave him a friendly hug. It wasn't a long hug. We just pulled back in a few seconds.

"I came here two days ago. I visited your house but your neighbours told me you moved out." His head slightly tilted to the side.

I nodded briskly. "Me and David got married."

He smirked cheerfully before replying. "That's wonderful. Where is David?"

David came with the ice cream and placed it on the table. He stared at Eddie with a serious look on his face and he didn't smile once.

"Hi." David said unpleasantly and dryly.

"Hey man, congratulations on your wedding." Eddie patted his back. They both were the same height but David's hair made him look taller.

David sat down and sighed. "Thank you."

"Well I'll see you guys around some other time. Bye." He walked towards the counter and I took my seat.

David and I looked at each other for a while without a word. I took the blueberry flavoured ice cream but didn't feel like eating it so I started poking it with the spoon.

"You didn't have to be so mean towards Eddie." I moved my gaze down to avoid any eye contact with him.

But I could feel his eyes opening wide and his jaw dropping in surprise. "Do you even remember what that guy did to you? How he treated you long ago?"

"That was long ago. He has changed now. He's my friend now." I closed my eyes before replying, trying to remember that horrible incident when he came to kidnap me. Samantha died because of him. I wanted to take my words back after remembering that time.

David looked a bit disappointed. He shook his head but didn't say a word. This was the first time he had behaved like this and it hurt me to see him like that.

Months flew by and we were able to recover the pain of losing our child. But the distance between me and David grew longer. He'd come home late at night and wouldn't even spend any time talking to me. He'd simply go to bed.

In the morning, he would leave the house quietly whilst I was asleep. When I tried to ask him the reason for all of this, he'd give me the same reply.

"I'm a football player. All of the football players are supposed to work like this. You have to get used to this."

But fortunately, one night he returned home earlier than expected.

I was watching TV but the door opened and David stood at the entrance. I felt an urge of standing up and rush to hug him, which I did. David was surprised but he put his arm around me tightly. He closed his eyes and moved his lips on my neck where I could feel his lips turn into a smile. It had been awhile since I felt him do that.

We stood there, motionless, allowing ourselves to feel each other's touch after a long time. He pulled back, already looking better.

"Seems like you've been missing me." His hand reached for my hair and he tucked them behind my ear.

I smiled at this gesture. "More than your imagination."

He chuckled. He picked me up in his arms and carried me to our room. He put me down on the bed and sat beside me, stroking my arm gently.

"You're coming with me tomorrow." David said.

"Where?" I asked.

"Just a party. It's sort of important." He lied down beside me.

I nodded. "Alright then. As long as we get to spend time together."
