Chapter 29: My Love

El's pov

Max's mom said hopper was on his way. It was 12 am but he didn't care. He said we would call him if max wakes up no matter what time it is.

So did the boys but we didn't want to bother them since they have school tomorrow as well.

Max's mom walked outside to talk to some nurses. "I'm gonna go get something from the vending machine, a nurse will bring you food in a bit" Billy kindly said.

"I'm not hungry but thanks" max said. "Max.. You have to eat something" Billy insisted calmy. "fine" max said. Billy stood up and left leaving us alone. Just us.

Max looked over at a table opposite her. "oh.. these are from the guys" I said as she looked confused. "to have them when you wake up" I said as I smiled at her. She looked from the flowers to me, returning the smile.

"for me?" she whispered. "yeah.. Of course why wouldn't we bring you flowers" I said. "i don't know" she said. I gave her hand which I was still holding a squeeze.

We never let go of our hands since she woke up. I didn't want to let her go again. "you deserve them.. you fought and managed to live after what happened and you in coma" I said smiling at her.

She smiled back. "And we love you" I said. "So do I" she said with a smile. "Did you mean it?" I asked as I was afraid to ask that question but it was killing me a little inside for some reason.

She frowned. "what?" she asked confused. "when Neil shot you.. and before hopper saved you, you said you loved me-that you always had.. Is that.. True?" I slowly asked.

I was feeling embarrassed for asking they but I wanted to know. She squeezed my hand as she put her other one on top of mine.

"Of course I meant it.. I-I'm in love you with el-I always was, I just didn't realise it earlier, I thought I was just.. Happy to be your best friend but a part of me denied it and wanted to be more than that, I don't know if that makes sense-" she said.

My heart melted by her words. "it does" i said cutting her off smiling gently. She smiled. "I love you too, my feelings were confused as well, I'm sorry, this-our thing we have now hadn't started earlier. I wish it was" I admitted.

"yeah so do I" she said. We stared at each other for a few seconds. I wanted to kiss her so bad but I didn't know if she would want to since she's in this situation, I didn't know when was the right time. Or even if she did want to.

I couldn't help but look at her lips. I noticed her doing the same. She looked around. Billy and max's mom were still out of the room. "Can I-kiss you" she asked quietly. No nurses were there too fortunately.

"I would love to" I said. She smiled as she blushed, so did I. We both leaned in. I rested my right hand on her cheek as I let go of her hand

We made out for a few seconds but then remembered we had to pull away in case someone walks in. I mean, both Billy and max's mom knew we are together but it would still be awkward obviously.

We were both blushing as we pulled away. We smiled. "I missed that" I said. She smirked. "missed what?" she mocked. Max will always be max. Teasing me.

"I missed kissing you and-" I said as I paused. She raised her eyebrow. "and-I can't wait to cuddle you like we used to" I said. She smiled.

She looked down on her stomach. "shit" she cursed as I couldn't help but laughed by the way she said it. "it's okay... we'll be able to cuddle when you can, don't worry" I said giving her a smile.

"but I want now" she complained like a little child. She even made those puppy eyes. God, she's so adorable. She knows I love it when she does that.

I blushed as I was in awe by how cute she was. "so do i, we have to wait though" I said grabbing her hand.
