"I think I've gained fifteen pounds in the past 5 days." I say smiling as I step into the shower.
"No you haven't." Romeo says from behind the closed bathroom door.
"How do you know?" I ask.
"Cause I just do, now hurry up! Party's in 3 hours and we still need to drive back." Romeo says.
"Well you go back and I'll drive in my car." I say rinsing the shampoo out of my hair.
"I'll wait." He says impatiently.
"I'll be at least two hours." I call.
"On second thought, I think we need more cups." Romeo calls, his voice fading as if he's already half way to the door.
"That's what I thought!" I call as I turn the water off and wrap a towel around my body.
My eyes glance up at the mirror as my hand wipes away the fog on the glass. I flinch at how dark the circles are underneath my eyes. Dave has been restless lately, therefore, so have I.
I've spent the last week awake, only receiving sleep when I know he's gone. He bought me a Christmas gift though, he had seen the small rose that hung from my neck on a white chain and had become, what I assume is envious and bought me a small bracelet, similar to the necklace I had received from Romeo.
"Here." Dave said smiling as I opened his small box to reveal a thick silver chain with a small tiara hanging off. "I got you the tiara because you're my little princess."
"I'm 16 Dave." I squeak. "And I'm not your anything."
"Well, you're my step daughter." He says sadly.
I snap back to real life and my reflection startles me, and I jump a little.
I hurriedly put on my makeup and softly curl my hair. It's too cold out for a dress so I wear black leather leggings and a black lace fit and flair shirt.
I smirk at the bad ass looking bitch in the mirror, the red lipstick really sticks out, giving me a Taylor Swift vibe. I lace up my wedges and grab my keys.
This party is going to be okay, I reassure myself, but something about the sentence I keep repeating in my head doesn't feel right.
I shake it off grab my keys and send Romeo a quick text.
Me: Leaving now, need anything else?
Romeo: Yeah, I need you, get that pretty little booty of yours here now!
Me: Or what? You'll spank me?
Romeo: Don't temp me baby, I just might ;)
Me: Is that a threat or a promise?
Romeo: I don't make threats...
I smile and walk to my car, checking everything, my mirrors, the brakes. I even check the tires and my oil levels. My gas tank is full. I look in my purse, my fully charged phone, my keys, lipstick, breathmints, wallet.
In my mind I slowly check everything off, it's all there, but why do I feel like something's missing?
