Your POV:
I'm the newest lifeguard to the team. I've been a lifeguard for about 3 months now. It's an amazing job. I love it. I've made really good friends with them all. Maxi especially. We get on well and talk a lot to one another. One lunchtime I was on my phone (I know there's a no phones allowed in the tower) but this was important. I was searching for an apartment for me to live in. Maxi looked over my shoulder. "Ooo apartment hunting are we." He smiled. I nodded my head. "Yeah." I replied. "I'm not having much luck with it though." I sighed. "I have a spare room in my apartment if you want it." He told me. I turned to face him. "You serious?" I asked. He nodded his head. "Yes! Definitely! Please take it." He pleaded. I smiled. "Ok then. I'll take it." I smiled. Maxi was so happy. Maxi got a key cut for me so I have a key of my own. So sweet.
Behind the scenes from work my heart broken. My boyfriend and I broke up. Well I broke up with him because he was going behind my back. Ridiculous. I haven't told anyone not even Maxi. He's my best friend.
After work I headed back home. Maxi was walking behind me on the phone to someone. We both got in and did what we had to do for the evening. "I'm heading out if you want to join." Maxi told me. I smiled. "I'll stay here." I told him. "Make sure you eat something ok." He told me. I nodded my head. Maxi left and I headed into the kitchen. I made myself some food eating very little of it. I wasn't that hungry or had much of an appetite. Hours passed. I was sitting on the sofa watching tv when I heard the front door open. "What you still doing up?" Maxi asked as he shut the front door. "Oh I couldn't sleep." I told him. He smiled. "It's late. We've both got work tomorrow let's get to bed." He said helping me up off of the sofa. "Ok." I said quietly as we walked towards our rooms. "Goodnight y/n." He said before walking into his room. "Goodnight." I replied walking into my room for the night. Maxi and I settled for the night in our bedrooms.
I woke up super early. The thoughts flooded my eyes. That's when I decided to go to the bathroom. I locked locked the bathroom door walking to the sink after. I looked at myself in the mirror. No guy will ever like me. No guy would want to date me. Is what traveled through my head. I sighed. My cheeks were stained with my tears and also my so called waterproof mascara. That's when it all went down hill from there.
Maxi's POV:
Normally y/n would wake me up when we have work but today she didn't. I must admit she didn't look happy yesterday. I should sat down with her.
I got out of bed and walked around the apartment. It's not the biggest apartment so she can't be far. I noticed her bedroom door was opened was slightly open so I walked in noticing she wasn't there. Odd. She could be in the bathroom. I headed to the bathroom opening the door but realising it was locked. I managed to get the door open seeing y/n on the floor unresponsive. I fell to her side grabbing my phone calling and a no immediately. While I was on the phone to the dispatcher, I checked her pulse. She didn't have one. "Does she have a pulse?" They asked. "Nope." I said starting chest compressions. "Ok you need to start cpr." They told me. "I'm a professional lifeguard I've performed cpr many times." I told them. They assisted me until the ambo arrived. They took her to hospital with me in the back with her.
I was told to wait in the waiting room by the doctors while they stabilised y/n. Time to phone Hoppo and tell him. I was shaking and you could tell in my voice.
Maxi.
Hoppo.
Maxi?
Hoppo it's y/n.
What's gone on?
I found her unresponsive in the bathroom at home.
Not good. She's ok right?
I-I don't know.
Take deep breaths. She's going to be ok. I'll tell everyone working today if you want.
Please. I should've spoke to her the night before.
She didn't try to... you know?
I hope not. *begins to cry* She's my best friend Hoppo. I can't loose her.
You go be with her and I'll come to the hospital as soon as I can ok.
Ok thank you.

Hoppo and I hung up the phone. I took a seat after pacing around during that phone call. I placed my head in my hands trying to think positive.
Hoppo's POV:
That was devastating news. They're both in my thoughts right now. I called for a meeting in the tower before we started. "Boss where's Maxi and Y/n." Mouse asked as I walked into the room. "That's what I've come to speak to you all about this morning." I told them. They all gave me looks. "Maxi found Y/n unresponsive in the bathroom this morning. He performed cpr on her until the ambo turned up. They're both currently at the hospital. Maxi isn't sure what's going on with y/n at the moment as the doctors haven't told him anything. He said he'll update me when he hears from them. We wish y/n the best and hopefully some of you can go visit them later." I suggested. They nodded their heads. "Of course. They'll be in my thoughts and prayers today and until y/n is well again." Reidy said. "If you want to talk I'm available to speak. I'll be in my office." I told them all. I've never heard this tower so quiet. I nodded my head at them before walking out of the tower.
Maxi's POV:
Hours had passed and I still haven't heard anything. I had my head resting on my hand trying to stay awake even though I've had two coffees already. "Sir?" I heard a doctor say. I quickly stood up. "Yes?" I replied. "You can go see miss y/l/n now." He told me. I nodded my head. "You saved her life. If you weren't there then she wouldn't of survived." He told me. The doctor lead me to her room letting me enter before walking off. Y/n was breathing which made me sigh in relief but she was just asleep. It broke me seeing her like this. I noticed her arms bandaged up which caused me to tear up. "Y/n." I sobbed in a quiet tone. I sat on the chair near her bed holding her hand near my face. She's going to be ok. I updated Hoppo before giving all my attention to y/n. I tucked a piece of her hair behind her ear. "I love you." I whispered to her.
There was a knock at the door soon followed by footsteps. Jethro, Harrison, Harries and Jesse all appeared. I stood up quickly wiping my tears. "Hey guys." I whispered as they all gave me bro hugs. Jethro had a teddy bear in his hands and Harries was carrying some flowers which they handed them to me. I smiled placing them down on the table.
It was quite. "How is she?" Jesse asked. "She's resting at the moment. Doctors said if I wasn't there to save her then she wouldn't be here." I told them looking over at y/n. "I'm glad you got to her in time." Harries said patting my shoulder. "I wouldn't know what to do without her." I whispered trying not to cry.
Jethro and Harrison looked at one another. "You know Maxi, I think we can tell you like y/n." Jethro smiled. "How do you know?" I asked. "The way you look at her. The way you treat her. You treat her with love. You treat her how she wants to be treated. You two would make a cute couple though." Harrison smirked. "You're showing her what love is." Jethro added. I like her. My cheeks went red. "Aw Maxi." Jesse said pushing my shoulder gently. "Ok that's enough." I laughed a little. I smiled shaking my head. "Right we'll be getting back to work now." Harries said as the all left the room. They left the room just as y/n was begging to wake up.
My back was facing y/n as I was seeing the guys out. "Maxi?" I heard her whisper. I turned around quickly. "Y/n?!" I exclaimed quickly making my way over to her side. "Where am I?" She asked looking around the room. "You're in the hospital." I told her as I held her hand. I took a seat on the chair. "Why am I here?" She asked clueless. I sighed. "I found you unresponsive on the bathroom floor. I saved your life. I couldn't let you go." I said tearing up again. Y/n squeezed my hand tight.
Your POV:
Maxi was trying his hardest not to cry. I was also too. "Thank you for saving me." I sobbed. (A/n: I'm trying to to cry writing this 😂). Maxi looked me in the eyes. "I have something to tell you." I told him. He nodded his head.
I can't keep it to myself. "I was going through a break up. He cheated on me and I lost all hope in guys. My heart was and is broken. I can't believe someone I thought who loved me would do that. I'm sorry I put you in this situation. I'm so stupid." I said letting the tears slip. Maxi's thumbs wiped them away. "Hey y/n, look at me. Never say that. He's a jerk. You are incredible. Don't let anyone tell you different and if they do they'll have me to deal with." He told me. "I just didn't feel loved anymore. It feels like I'm alone again. Like no one is here for me anymore." I whimpered. Maxi's hand squeezed mine. "I'm always going to be here you know that. I'm going to be your support throughout this all and forever. If you ever feel like this again speak to me immediately." He told me. I nodded my head.
*2 months later*
I'm back to work again. I was discharged from hospital 1 week after being admitted. I went for check ups and to speak to someone like a counsellor. It helped a lot. Also with Maxi by my side through it all. My feelings towards Maxi changed. I felt a stronger connection. Like love. It felt different from a friend way. He's helped me so much and I don't know how to repay him. I keep asking him but he denies it saying he doesn't need anything besides me. Which is so sweet. I blush every time he says things like that. I think everyone at work know we both like one another. It's easy to tell.
During the 2 months of on going treatment, Maxi decided to move apartment. He also asked me to move in permanently with him. I said yes of course. We wanted this to be a new page in the book. So starting off fresh.
Maxi's POV:
It's been 2 months since y/n's accident. She's going strong. She's so brave and that's why I love her. She's different but in a good way. I walked into the tower with an idea in my head. "Guys I need help to figure out a way to ask y/n to be my girlfriend." I told them as we sat in the tower. Y/n wasn't in for the day so I could talk about this as loud as I wanted.
Me and the lads were brainstorming it all. "How about the beach?" Harries suggested. "Sounds good but I want it to be just between us both." I said. "What about your backyard?" Singlets suggested. I smiled. "Perfect!" I said with a smiled. "Plan of action is you take y/n on a walk while we set up a cute romantic tent with food and drink for you both in your backyard." Reidy suggested. I smiled. "Sounds perfect to me." I agreed.
Your POV:
Maxi wanted me to meet him at the tower. It was my day off. "Ready?" He asked as I approached him. I nodded my head. "Let's go." I replied getting a smile from him. He took my hand leading me on a walk to somewhere. We walked around the shops for a good hour or two. Maxi took me back to our apartment. We walked around the back and the first thing I saw was a tent with cute fairy lights hanging around it. "Wow." I said speechless. "You like it?" Maxi smiled. "I love it!" I exclaimed looking around. He took my hand showing me the rest. There was food and drinks for us both here too.
We took a seat on the cushions and blankets. It was comfortable. Really comfortable. We at some food and had a drink. Maxi wrapped an arm around me. "Where do you see yourself in the future?" Maxi asked. I thought for a second. "Dating someone, getting married to them and having a family with that special someone." I told him. It went a little silent. "What if that was me?" He said to me looking at me. I looked at him confused. "I like you y/n. Just getting to know you before you moved in with me made me realise that you were someone special. After what we went through my feelings for you got stronger and I realised that life without you wouldn't be the same." He told me. "You took the exact same words out of my mouth." I smiled at him.
Maxi got the hint. I smiled. He looked at my eyes then down to my lips. I smiled as we leaned in. We shared our first kiss. We pulled away. I wanted it to last forever. "Will you be my girlfriend y/n?" Maxi asked. "Yes!" I said making his kiss me once again. The start of something new.
