"Was that a yes?", Dalvin yelled from my house. I got inside my car, started it and drove my way to Zhen's house.

Zhen's POV
I'm so nervous and for no reason. It's just Kaylan coming over. Devante and I have been texting each other ever since he's been back in Oregon. He said that the trip was fun sand that he's in studio mode, so I won't see him for a while which is okay. I just wished I could've gone with him though. Maybe I could've avoided getting jumped on by her friends.
I heard someone knocking on the door gently and pressing the doorbell. There's only one fucker who keeps using that lil ugly ass doorbell and that's Kaylan. I got up from my couch and grabbed my keys to unlock the front door.
"Come on birthday bitch! Open the door already!", Kaylan yelled through the screen door. "Alright. I'll go a little faster for you.", I said moving slower and slower causing her to laugh. "Alright back up. I'm bout to open the door.", I said. She moved away and I opened the door. Once the door opened, she stepped inside and that's when we got to talking and hugging each other

Kaylan's POV
Yall, we are having a blast celebrating her 30th birthday. We're playing games like connect four, uno, shit even grand thrift auto. Zhen's been posting us having a good night and honestly, it just makes me laugh and feel better from our previous situation.
"Okay. I know we're having a good ass time but I just have to ask this.", Zhen said to me. I looked at her with a confused look on my face. It better not be some petty or childish shit). "Go ahead and ask me since you brought it up.", I said leaning over the loveseat I was in for what she had to say.
"Well.....Aubrey had came over the past couple of days ago. And he told me that your friends had came over here without my permission.m I told them to leave and they didn't, so they jumped me until I was unconscious. So my question is why did they come over? You know I/m cool with all of your friends no matter who they are or what they look like.", she said.
I looked at her with a confused look on my face. "What?", Zhen said. "Nobody was over here. The only people who were in your house were me, you and Aubrey. Where the hell are you getting your information at?", I said. "Aubrey told me that.", Zhen said.
"Well, he's lying. Once you got done eating that cupcake Aubrey gave to you, he let and then I was saying that I don't trust him at all. Something's off about him. After I said that, you went ballistic and we ended up fighting each other.", I said. "I ended up knocking you out. That's how you ended up on the floor and with all of the scratches and bruises all over yourself. I felt bad so I went home. Aubrey came to my house that same night and then we talked. I let all of my frustrations out venting to him and he wrote me a letter.", I said.
Zhen was silent. "I knew this nigga was awkward as fuck from the jump.", I said. "Well, there might be a reason why he was lying. He probably didn't want to taint his image or how we view him.", she said. "Zhen....that sounds retarded. Why would someone care about what their patient's cousin thinks of them?", I said. "...He might like you.", she said.
"...HE'S MARRIED. I DON"T WANT HIM. I ALREADY HAVE A NIGGA WHO I APPRECIATE.", I yelled out of frustration. "Calm down Kaylan. It's not that serious. We can just ask him ourselves.", Zhen said. BItch. "You need to tell your fucking therapist to come down not me. He was the one that wrote me this shit when he came over my house.", I said pulling out the letter Aubrey wrote and gave it to me. Zhen read the letter aloud.
Dear Kaylan,
I apologize for leaving without telling you but it seemed like you needed some alone time for yourself. You've revealed some extremely personal things about you and your family. I won't judge or view either you or Zhen any differently. I truly understand how it feels to constantly be judged based on what your family does. It's like being running in an endless marathon. It's exhausting to continue and quickly makes you feel tired and beat down.
After you revealed why you and Zhen fought, it only makes me want to get it to know you more and more. You have a hardcore exterior but I've come to figure out that you have a gentle, sensitive and caring interior. You have to able to let go of all of the issues that made you feel violent or upset. It will drag you down till your deathbed and I don't want that to happen to you.
I've come to terms with that fact that...you're extremely precious and too special to be putting yourself down as you have for so long. I don't mean to come as disrespectful or out of pocket but I call a spade, a spade. With you, I see an ace. Nothing more, nothing less. I see and think of you as the highest and purest thing...next to my wife of course lol. I hope you don't feel uncomfortable around me as you have been with me since we've met. I can see a great relationship for us that can easily be built of trust and transparency.
Hopefully, if you made it this far in the letter without throwing it away, I just want to appreciate you for reading and having the courage and boldness to express yourself in the way you did tonight. Have a nice night, relax, detox, and view yourself as a higher being as I do with you.

Zhen's POV
I finished reading that letter and I'm not gonna lie. I felt so fucking uncomfortable reading that. I can finally see what Kaylan was talking about. There's something off and weird about this damn letter. "Now do you see what I'm talking about?", Kaylan asked. "Yeah, I understand now.", I said. "I've told you something was off about him. You need to cut ties with him from now on. Something bad is gonna happen and I can feel it. ", she said. I've never knew I was this blind and oblivious to all of this while Kaylan saw all the red flags. Now I can see why Kaylan has been kinda hostile with him to me.
I hugged her to shut her up. "Nigga. What are you doing?", Kaylan said. "This is my apology for not listening to you before. We should've never fought and I deserved to get knocked out by you.", I said. Kaylan sighed. "What?", I asked.
"Mane look. A hug can not fix this. You need to do something before anything else happens. Anyways...do you still have any more of those cupcakes Aubrey gave you?", she said. "....yeah, I do. Why?", I asked. "Because after you ate some of his cupcakes, that's when you became aggressive and angry.", she said. "What you think he did something to cupcakes?", I asked.
"There wouldn't be any other explanation for our fighting. We normally don't have beef with each other. You...kept bringing up my mom, Z. That shit kinda hurt. You made me feel like I wasn't up to part like you. What else was I supposed to feel?", she said. Damn. I didn't know I was being a bitch to her. I know Kaylan feels some type of way whenever her parents are ever brought up. Now I won't lie. I used to be jealous of her as a teenager.
Kaylan always had friends around her. I never understood what she does or say to people but she kinda has a magnetic pull to people. She's a people person and I'm not. I was jealous of the fact she would have so many friends and how much success she's had with her careers. Bitch had three successful careers while I'm just no at 30 trying to figure out what I want to do in life.
"Hello? BItch I knew you heard me?", Kaylan said. "Huh?", I said. "I said give me the cupcakes. They might be laced with something.", she said. I went into the kitchen and placed the cupcakes on the table. "It's on the table.", I yelled. Kaylan came into the kitchen and looked at them. "Do you having any vinegar and baking soda?", Kaylan asked. "Uhh..yeah. Why?", I asked. "Where is it at?", she asked. "In the cabinet above the stove.", I said.
Kaylan walked towards the stove and grabbed the vinegar and baking soda and placed the cupcakes near the sink. "What the hell are you doing?", I asked her. "I'm gonna see what the fuck was laced into these cupcakes.", she said while grabbing a big plastic bowl.
Kaylan's POV
I grabbed a big ass plastic bowl and threw all of the cupcakes into it. Zhen stood right beside me watching me. "I hope whatever you trying to do isn't gonna make the kitchen smell funky.", Zhen said. I looked at her and said, "Look. If it smells bad in here, that means the cupcakes were laced. If there is no smell, then I was wrong and buy you some more cupcakes.", I said. After that, there was complete silence between us.
I grabbed a measuring cup and measuring spoons for the vinegar and baking soda. "How much vinegar are you pouring in the bowl?", Zhen asked me. While opening the vinegar, I grabbed the measuring cup and said, "I'll be pouring 3/4 of vinegar and that's 6 ounces.", I said. Once I got done pouring the vinegar, Zhen dumbass said, "Damn. You haven't even finished yet and it smells."
I opened the baking soda and grabbed the measuring spoons. I used the 1/2 tablespoon and scooped up the baking soda. "Alright, now I'm gonna mix the stuff up together.", I said. "Should I stand back?", Zhen asked. "No. You're fine.", I said. Once I said that I poured the baking soda and vinegar together and the cupcakes started melting, fizzing and deteriorating away.
Zhen stood back because she was scared that the mixture was gonna pop her. Shit, I stood back too. We waited until the fizzing and melting of the cupcakes stopped. And yall it finally stopped. Once the cupcakes got done, there was a stench that was funky as hell.
"Damn what the hell is that fucking smell?", Zhen asked. "Shit. I don't know but at least we know that Aubrey laced your cupcakes.", I said to her. "Let's see that piece of shit laced your cupcakes with.", I said walking towards the sink. We both walked up towards the sink and was shook.
"WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?", Zhen yelled. "My nigga. You fucking yelled in my ear.", I said. "Sorry. What the fuck is that?", she said. "I don't know.", I said. What was in the sink was a white powder. "Is that the baking soda?", Zhen asked. "No. That disappeared with the vinegar.", I said. I grabbed some of the white powder and sniffed it to see if it had a smell.
Oh my God. It smells like straight up chemicals. I knew this familiar powder. "What's wrong?", Zhen asked. I turned around to her. "Fam. He laced your shit with crack. That's why you were angry and groggy.", I said. "Oh shit. Kaylan..your eyes are red.", Zhen said. "I know. Pass me some bread and salt.", I said.
"Okay.", Zhen said passing me three slices of bread and some salt. "Thanks.", I said. I quickly grabbed a cup and filled it with warm water and swallowed it with the salt. After that, I drank more warm water and eat three slices of bread. "What is salt and bread supposed to do?", Zhen said. "It relieves the effects of coke so I won't get high or anything else.", I said.
"How the hell do you know that?", Zhen asked. I sighed. "When you live that life, you just know. I've seen niggas go from crackheads to professional people in a matter of minutes.", I said. Zhen looked at me and said, "I'm sorry you had to live that life Kay but you need to let go all of that hurt. I'll help you with it if you can help me." "Help you with what?", I asked. "Help me with my career. I'm tired of living off my parents' wealth. I mean it's nice to know that I'm forever straight. I got two jobs but it's not really my thing and I don't like them that much. Help me find the thing I would love to do.", Zhen said.
"Yeah, I can help you. You might be a nice esthetician. You have a beautiful complexion and clear skin. You can probably help niggas get nice and healthy skin.", I said honestly. "Thanks.", she said. "But before we do any of that, we need to talk to Aubrey.", I said.
We both heard the front door knock. "Who's there?", Zhen asked. Nobody answered. "I said who the fuck is there?", Zhen said. "It's me...Aubrey.", Aubrey semi-whispered. We both moved towards the front door and looked at each other. "Open the door so we can talk to him.", I said.
Zhen opened the door and Aubrey looked shocked to see both of us. "Umm...hi. Is it okay for me to come in?", Aubrey asked. Zhen was about to say something but I interrupted. "Yeah, you can come in. Come in and tell us why the fuck you laced my cousin's cupcakes with coke. What the fuck is wrong with you? Is you crazy or sum?", I said.
Aubrey didn't say anything but he was breathing hard. "Aubrey?", Zhen said. Aubrey still didn't say something. "Oh my God. He's hyperventilating! We need to take him to the hospital now!", Zhen said. "He's bullshitting. It's just so he won't answer the fucking question.", I said watching this nigga pretending not to breathe. "Come on Kaylan! Help me. I'm gonna call his wife.", Zhen said grabbing Aubrey's phone.
Zane's POV
I'm sitting in the back of the car so Zhen and Kaylan won't see me. My wife is very smart. She figured out that we laced the cupcakes and told two different things to them. I heard Zhen yelling at Kaylan. I couldn't help but peek at what was happening.
I saw Jabari was hyperventilating. Zhen was holding him and fanning him for air. Kaylan just stood there...beautifully with a frown on her face. "Call his wife. She should be the one to get his ass over here.", Kaylan said. Oh shit. I saw Zhen nod her head and grabbed Jabari's phone, grabbed his finger and used it to unlock his phone and began to dial some numbers. I panicked and grabbed my phone from the passenger seat in the front and quickly called Jabari's phone.
Zhen's POV
I was about to call his wife but someone called before I could dial her number. I looked at the screen and saw the name Zane. I answered the call and said, "Hello?" "Hey, can I speak to Aubrey?", the man asked. "Umm..I'm sorry. My name's Zhen and Aubrey's having a huge problem. He's hyperventilating.", I said. "Ohh...he's not hyperventilating. He's having a panic attack. Is he grabbing his chest and twitching?", the man asked.
I looked at Aubrey and said, "Yeah he is." "Well, I'm his cousin. He let me borrow his car this morning and I just wanted to give it back to him.", he said. "Well umm...do you mind coming over this way and getting him? He's my speech and brain damage tutor.", I said. "Yeah sure. Just text me the address and I'll be on my way.", he said. I went to messages and text him my address.
"Alright. I sent you my address. How far are you from my address?", I asked. "Not that far. I just have to make two more turns.", Zane said. "Okay. Just honk when you're here. I'm just gonna keep fanning him.", I said. "Ight bet.", he said. After that, I hung up and resumed back to fanning Aubrey inside my house.
Aubrey and I were on the couch in the living room. I stopped fanning him and went to my kitchen to grab my traditional Chinese fan. Once I grabbed that, I asked Kaylan to fix Aubrey a glass of water. "Fine. This is the only thing I'll do.", Kaylan said.
Kaylan's POV
I fixed Aubrey a tall glass of bullshit... I mean water. I fixed him a tall glass of water. Once the glass of water was full, I made it back to the living room where Zhen and this nigga were at. I placed the cup on the coffee table with a coaster. Zhen looked at me. "What? I told you I'm not helping. He's only doing it so we can't ask him why the fuck he's been lying to us. Nigga is straight-up playing the victim and sympathy card.", I said.
Zhen scoffed. "Nigga. You might be right but you also might be wrong. What if he's really having a panic attack?", she asked. I laughed. "Bitch, I still wouldn't do a gotdamn thang! He might got you fooled but what if he showed you his true colors?", I asked her. "Then that's when I'll drop his ass like a hot tamale and keep it moving.", she said.
Before I could say anything, we both heard a car honking outside. Zhen got up and looked outside to see who was honking.
Zhen's POV
I went outside to see who the fuck was honking. I saw this matte black car outside with a man inside. The man rolled his window slowly and said: "Are you Zhen?" "Yeah. I'm Zhen. Do you want me to get him for you?", I asked. "Yeah, that'll be fine. I'll have the AC on and his inhaler in hand.", Zane said. I nodded my head and went back to my house.
"Kaylan.", I said. "Yeah.", she said. "Can you take Aubrey to his car?", I asked. "His car has been out there this whole time?", she asked me. "No. His cousin's here to get him. He's outside right now. Just take him to his car. His car is matte black. You can't miss it.", I said.
Kaylan's POV
This bitch. "Mane. You fucking owe me.", I said getting up and slowly trying to make Aubrey stand up. I successfully got Aubrey up by myself. We both walked out the door slowly. "Thank you Kay..lan.", Aubrey whispered. "Mhm. Just because I'm doing this doesn't mean I'm fucking with you. You fucking lied to me and Zhen.", I said. "I don't know what you're talking about.", he whispered. "You know what the fuck I'm talking about. You can't use this fake ass panic attack on me like you did Zhen. Ion no damn bimbo.", I said.
We were halfway to the car and I was getting frustrated. "I think you still need to let go of all of that hurt.", Aubrey said lowly. "Don't try to change the subject nigga. We're talking about you not me. I've released all of that before you even came today. Why did you lie? Is your name even Aubrey?", I asked him. Before he could even answer, we made it to the car.
Zane's POV
Finally, I get a chance to see her again. "Sorry about this. I'm not Zhen. I'm her cousin, Kaylan.", she said smiling at me. I grabbed her hand and said, "I'm Zane. I'm Aubrey's cousin. You know sometimes I feel like I have to constantly tell him about himself and try telling him the right way of shit."
She laughed. "I know right. It's like I'm her older sister and she's just the dumb and naive sister...and she's older than me.", she said while helping Jabari sit behind me. "Thanks for helping him. You're truly an angel.", I said truthfully. I wanted to say more to you but with the identity I made for myself is kinda hard to express my feelings to you.
"Do you mind if I can ask you something Zane?", Kaylan asked me. "Sure.", I said. "You mind if you could take off your hat and shades off? I'd like to match the name with the face.", she said with a smile on her face. "I'm sorry. Can't do that ma'am. I like to be mysterious and I would like to keep it that way.", I said flirtatiously.
"Fine fine fine. Well, I'll let you go and stay mysterious or whatever.", she said. I smiled and chuckled. After that, she left. Damn, her ass is fat. Hate to see you go but I would love to watch you leave. Once she made it to the door, she waved back at me and I did the same. Then I pulled off and drove back home.
"Do you think I did a good job with the panic attack?", Jabari asked. "Kaylan wasn't convinced but my lovely Zhen was and was treating me so wonderfully. When do you think we should do our last plan brother>", Jabari asked me. "The only reason why she wasn't convinced was because she outsmarted us with her natural ability to thinking. I think she's probably physic or one of those rare breeds.", I said.
"Rare breeds?", Jabari said. "Yeah, remember when grandma killed herself? She said she would come back as a tree and she did. The rare breeds are people with the physic and magical powers", I said. "Ohh yes. I almost forgot about the rare breeds. Zane, you've really got a special one. Hopefully, Zhen can be a spirit waltzer.", he said. "She might just be. Zhen does remind me of our mom. Maybe mom's spirit is inside of Zhen's body. We'll just have to see when our last act begins.", I said. "When will it begin? I'm ready to unleash my love to Zhen.", Jabari said.
"Our last act will begin in the next three days. I want them to not be upset with us about lying to them. You did a wonderful job with the panic attack but we have to come stronger to convince Kaylan we're good people.", I said. Jabari agreed by nodding. DOn't worry Kaylan. We're almost there. We're so close yet so far from each other. I can't wait for our second moment alone. I'll do more than that first moment of us seeing and meeting each other. You'll see. You'll see that I'm the better man for you than Dalvin's crusty ass.
You just need to leave bootleg Devante alone and behind and leave with a real man who is romantic, passionate, and only focused on satisfying you sexually, financially, emotionally, and spiritually. Just wait on me.
