Logan stepped into the daycare only fifteen minutes past three, immediately spotting his two sons as they were both running around in the room while loudly cheering, seemingly in the middle of some sort of game.
The other kids were much calmer (at least right now) and maybe Logan should be reminding Roman and Patton once again to mind their volume. One of the teachers got a relieved expression as she saw him and Logan supposed it was because he was finally there to take them off her hands.
He was aware of how prolonged exposure to his quite hyper sons could tire someone out and he couldn't imagine taking care of an entire class of almost thirty kids. Two four year olds were quite enough.
"Roman, Patton, look who's here." The teacher said and the two kids looked to the doorway and gleefully shouted, running up to him. Logan crouched down and pulled them both into a hug with a smile.
"Hello my darlings, how has your day been?" He asked, standing back up and pulling them up in his arms. They began babbling excitedly about what they'd done today, Logan not properly hearing either of them since they were talking over each other.
He gave the daycare teacher a nod of goodbye and brought the kids out to the hall where they had their jackets and their shoes. He carefully let them down and they got their rain jackets on fairly quickly while he himself put his shoes (which he'd had to take off before entering) back on. Then when Patton and Roman had made sure they brought any drawings they'd made with them home and had put their shoes on they were on their way.
They didn't live far away at all but walking with two four year olds took far longer than one without young kids would ever anticipate, what should have been less than a ten minute walk took a bit over twenty minutes. But soon enough Logan was unlocking the door to their home, seeing his husbands shoes kicked off in the middle of the hallways floor so he knew Virgil was already home.
"We're home." Logan called into the house, a moment later hearing the unmistakable sound of his husbands footsteps coming from their bedroom upstairs. Virgil joined them downstairs before either of their kids had managed to get their shoes off.
Virgil crouched down to help them as Logan took his own jacket off and Logan sighed as he saw Roman wiggle out of his jacket and then leave it on the floor as he ran into the living room. Patton was soon to follow but he at least gave Virgil his jacket first so it could be hung up. Then Virgil finally turned his attention to Logan, smiling.
"Hey." Virgil said, hands squeezing Logan's shoulders affectionately and they both leaned in and met in a soft kiss that ended far too soon for either of their liking. They heard a delighted shriek coming from the living room and then a weird popping sound followed by Roman's loud laughter and a small, scolding 'no' from Patton. Logan cast Virgil a confused look and Virgil shrugged.
"I may have bought nerf-guns." He said with an innocent look and Logan was about to say something about how he was unsure if that was good or not when he felt himself getting hit in the back, surely by a nerf-bullet. Uncontrollable giggles were heard from Patton when Logan looked over at him, and Logan was tempted to tell Virgil about how they would never know peace again (until all those nerf-bullets had been lost behind furniture, which likely wasn't going to take that long anyway).
"I may also have bought two extra nerf-guns so we can all battle together." Virgil said and pointed towards Roman who was running up to them with three of them in his arms. Virgil took two from him and thanked him, then handing one to Logan who took it hesitantly.
"Are we really doing this?" He said, not entirely sure if he was feeling up to starting a war the moment he got home.
Virgil stepped a little bit closer and leaned in, gently pressing his lips to Logan's and right when Logan began kissing back he felt himself being shot in the chest and Virgil pulled back, grinning widely. He really should've seen that coming.
"One point to me. Patton's on my team, come on now." He said and hurried out to Patton, taking his hand and the two half ran into the living room. He could hear Patton giggling as they were surely hiding to ambush him and Roman when they followed.
Logan looked at Roman who looked slightly confused as if he was unsure what he was supposed to do and who he was supposed to shoot. Logan kneeled and quickly whispered what they were up to and what his plan was until Roman nodded that he understood. He pressed a quick kiss to his sons cheek before standing up again.
"Come on Roman, let's make them regret challenging us."
