I felt my heart race as my eyes went wide.
Oh my gosh... My hands started to shake as I slowly stood up straight.
I don't know what to think about this.. I... Why am I scared? Why am I regretting this? I agreed with Michael. I did this for Michael. We wanted more children! He wanted more children... But it's going to be great for Rose, right?
A faint knock echoed in the silent bathroom.
I cleared my throat, "Who is it?" I called out.
I heard a soft chuckle, "Baby, it's me. Open up." Michael said, I could tell he was smiling.
I took in a sharp breath, "J-Just a minute!" I said, grabbing all three of the pregnancy tests in my hands.
What do I do with these?! I can't put these just anywhere! Michael is gonna find them!
Oh gosh..
"Come on. I know you're not using the restroom." Michael said.
I gulped, "Just wait a minute, Michael! I-" I was interrupted with the door opening.
I gasped, putting the tests in my jacket that laid on the floor.
Michael walked in the bathroom, smiling widely at me.
I turned around quickly, forcing a smile at him.
"Hey, baby!" I grinned, hugging him.
"How was your day with Ryan?" I asked, kissing his cheek.
Michael smirked, "It was really fun, babe. I felt like a kid, playing around with him. We went on the rides here and everything." He smiled.
I grinned, "That sounds like a lot of fun. Jeanne and I had a great time too. She's a really nice lady." I said, touching his chest.
Michael grinned, "What are you doing in here? I thought you went to bed already since Jeanne and Ryan did." He said.
I raised an eyebrow. Was I really in here for that long?
"What time is it?" I softly asked, looking around for a clock.
Michael softly chuckled, "It's about one AM." He said.
My eyes widened, "Oh."
"I um.. I couldn't sleep so I was just.." I turned around, glancing at the counter.
"Checking more things out." I said, looking at Michael.
Michael smirked, holding my waist. "Are you sure?" He raised an eyebrow, glancing behind me.
I gulped, "Yeah." I softly said, barely audible.
Michael licked his lips, moving his head to the side as he stared at something behind me.
"I think you were doing something else." He softly said, walking towards the counter.
I turned around, watching Michael walk towards the bathroom counter.
"Can you explain to me somethin'?" He smirked, looking at me.
I could explain a lot of things to you, Michael. Truly, I can.
"Um.. Sure." I softly said, feeling more nervous.
Michael smirked, picking something up from the counter.
I tried focusing my eyes on the object. "What's that?" I asked innocently.
Michael held the box in his hand, reading the label closely.
A huge smile suddenly blasted on his face. "Oh, you know.." He mumbled.
I raised an eyebrow, "I-I don't, Mi-"
Michael looked at me, "A pregnancy test?" He grinned widely.
I blushed. Shit! I forgot about the forth one!
"I-I um.." I couldn't find the words to tell Michael.
"This is why you were in here for a long time, isn't it?" He grinned.
I bit my lip, not saying anything.
"Well, what were the results?" Michael smiled widely.
He observed the box, shaking it closely to his ear. "You haven't even opened it, Mia." He frowned.
"What are you waiting for?" Michael smiled, looking at me.
I sighed, bending over towards my jacket as I reached for the three pregnancy tests.
Might as well..
I handed Michael the three tests, crossing my arms after giving them to him.
Michael hesitated a first, but suddenly grabbed them from my hands, reading them closely.
"It's faint." I quietly said.
I watched Michael's reaction slowly. His eyes squinted as he tried to read the line. He quickly grabbed the box, reading the instructions.
I sniffled, feeling my eyes water. Why am I so upset about this? Mia, you wanted this! Michael convinced you and you said yes! You're being a good wife! You're an amazing mother! What are you so afraid of? You've been pregnant before, come on!
Michael grinned widely. It wasn't like his usually grin he gives me. This was a grin I've never seen before.
The type of grin that showed crinkles. The type of grin that showed so many teeth!
"Oh my god!" He chuckled, his eyes immediately watering up.
"You're pregnant?" Michel smiled widely, a few tears escaped from his eyes.
I couldn't help but smirk at his reaction. He's so happy..
I almost wanted to cry with him.
I nodded. "Yeah." My voice cracked.
"Oh... O-Oh, Mia!" Michael cried, walking towards me quickly as he hugged me tightly.
"We're going to have a baby!" He cried in my arms.
I sniffled. "Yeah." I squeaked, holding him.
Michael let go of me, looking at me.
"Oh my gosh.." He smiled widely.
"You have no idea how happy this makes me." Michael smiled, holding onto my hands.
I forced a smile, caressing his face.
I can't explain to Michael how I am feeling. I don't want to ruin this moment for him.
"Do you remember when you were pregnant with Rose and I asked to be the Godfather? Because I thought I'd never be a father?" He said.
I blushed, "Yeah."
"You told me I'd find someone someday.. I doubted you because it was you I always wanted." He shyly said, blushing.
I smirked, "Well, look now." I softly chuckled.
"You get to be a daddy." I smiled, a few tears escaped from my eyes.
I sniffled, wiping my tears away.
Michael smiled widely, pulling me closer to him. "You're so perfect.." He whispered, kissing me.
I felt my lip quiver. I can't be perfect. This is too much. Too much...
"Are you okay?" Michael softly asked, looking at me.
I gulped, letting go of him. "Me? O-Oh yeah.." I sniffled, rubbing my eyes.
"I'll be fine, Michael." I weakly smiled.
Stop lying, Mia. You've gotta tell him at some point.
Don't get me wrong, I'm going to love this child unconditionally.. But reality is hitting me terribly. My first pregnancy, I lost the baby. The second pregnancy, well you know.. The third one went well, except I almost lost my baby for her being premature..
I don't think I'd be able to handle anything else with my children if things go wrong. I'd feel guilty telling Michael, you know? He's been wanting children for so many years! Michael and I have talked about it-Well, he's begged me for children.. It's the least I can do for him, right? He's given me a home and loved me when I was alone. Michael is a hero and I.. To give him children will make him happy. I know that for a damn fact, it will.
"I just didn't think it would happen so quickly." I admitted.
Michael smirked, holding me close to him. "Don't be scared, Mia." He softly said, looking at me.
"You're giving me the greatest gift ever!" He grinned.
"A baby." Michael smiled, placing his warm hands on my stomach.
"I know we're going to be great parents. Mia, I promise I'll be the best father ever." Michael sincerely said.
"I'm going to show and give so much to this child.." He smiled.
"You're giving me the gift of a child's life. You don't even understand how grateful I am." Michael grinned.
I bit my lip. "I'm just scared." I whispered, feeling a lump in my throat.
Michael caressed my face, "Don't be. 'Cause I'm going to be your protection.." He smirked.
I smiled at him, feeling my tears fall down.
I sniffled. I didn't want this. Yet, I do.
Michael kissed my lips with passion.
He can't protect me for everything. Michael tries so hard too, but it's not going to work.
I didn't want this because I didn't want to risk giving my child HIV again. I know I'm dying. Yes, I have years left but not many..
I'm a mom! I want to be able to see my children grow up and just bloom into beautiful humans! I want to see my children go to school. I want to give Rose some mom advice when she needs it. I want to give my babies fashion and the things I didn't get as a kid!
The more children I bring into this household, the less time I have left to be with them.
Michael hugged me tightly.
"You can try.." I mumbled, feeling more tears fall.
"Come on, baby. We should get some rest." He said, gently pushing me out of the bathroom.
I frowned, slipping into bed.
Michael chuckled, "Aren't you going to change your clothes?" He smirked, taking his pants off.
I weakly smiled, "I'm tired, baby. Come on.." I groaned, pulling the pillow close to me.
Michael smirked, taking his shirt off. "Alright.." He murmured, slipping into bed next to me.
Michael leaned over, turning the lamp off.
I felt his body move against mine as he held onto me.
"Goodnight my babies." He smiled, kissing my forehead.
I felt his hands touch my bare stomach. I shivered at his touched, pulling him closer to me.
"Goodnight." I whispered.
