ADAM'S POV:
Mistake. Of course." She replied quietly and went out closing the door behind her.
Fuck.
I shouldn't have done that. I don't regret last night, I just panicked and partly because I didn't know how she was going to react.
However, what I do regret is saying that crap to her.
Sighing, I hopped in the shower to relax my mind and muscles and both. I brought her to the room last night. My room. She was so perfect in every way, it was surreal.
After shower, I got dressed and went downstairs. In hopes to avoid Savannah, I decided to skip going to the kitchen where she most definitely would be right now since Mrs. Cooper can't come today because she had to go to her niece's school to watch her stage play.
My hand on the door knob froze when I heard her voice.
"Adam." she called.
I took a deep breath and turned around to see her standing at the door frame of the kitchen dressed in a semi formal attire. Her hair tied in a loose bun. She looked beautiful. Nothing unusual.
She raised a brow and motioned me silently towards the kitchen which I did follow like a lost puppy.
"Why were you going without breakfast?" she asked placing a plate of waffles in front of me.
"I have an early meeting." I replied not meeting her questioning gaze.
"Yeah? The last I checked, your meeting starts at eleven and it's not even ten yet. And it only takes twenty minutes to reach your office." she stated.
I looked at her dumbfounded and she just smiled in return.
"If it's about last night, you don't have to avoid me. We have both come to terms that it was a mistake. It's alright." she said softly caressing my jaw with her thumb.
I leaned into her touch and buried my face in her belly. She wrapped her hands around my neck and ran her fingers through my hair.
"I'm sorry." I said but it came out muffled.
She pulled back after a while and kissed my forehead before proceeding to go to her side and sat down.
"Ivan called me almost an hour ago and told me to come to the investor's meeting today. Says he has a project, he needs my approval for." she shrugged and continued to sip on her orange juice.
"Alright, I'll take you." I said.
"No. I'll come on my own. I have to go to the hospital afterwards for an operation." she replied.
"You're a heart surgeon by profession, right?" I asked.
She nodded and looked at me skeptically.
"How come you were present that day when the guy needed a head surgery?" I asked.
She chuckled and shook her head.
"I was sent directly to med school after high school which means that I didn't have to wait to prepare for the entry tests and going through all that procedure because I already got my bachelors degree courtesy to my excellent grades and advanced subjects that I studied at high school. Afterwards, my residency period was of three years. I learned neurology a little by being present in the room where my Senior doctors used to operate. Of course in my scarce spare time. When I started this hospital almost a year back, Doctor Gabriel, neurosurgeon, kind of trained me. I'm no professional or expert in that field, I just assist him in there." she told leaving me shocked.
"That's... impressive." I stated after recovering from the initial shock.
She just smiled in return and we both left.

Entering the office with her by my side felt good, something different. My staff was practically trying to swallow us with their burning gazes.
Some of them greeted us but I just nodded in response whereas she replied the greeting politely.
When we were in the elevator, she nudged me and I looked down at her.
"When they greet you Ronan, you greet them back not with a nod but with a polite 'good morning' It only increases the respect they have for you and makes you more approachable." she said.
I smiled at her in awe. She really was something else.
"Okay." I said as the elevator opened and we stepped out.
I offered her my hand which she took immediately and accompanied me to the meeting room.
As soon as I opened the door, everyone became quiet, observing us. I felt Isa stiffen beside me and retract her hand from mine.
I frowned and looked down at her to see gaze settled somewhere else. I followed it and saw her staring at Amelia who sat next to her father.
My frown only deepened but I resumed walking and she followed quietly behind.
The meeting started after the formal greetings and lasted for almost an hour about investing in a new project.
Dad then stepped forward and told how he wanted to invest in a hospital and construct and operate a separate wing for patients suffering from brain tumors.
Savannah's eyes widened and her lips parted in shock. She was sitting next to me at the head of the table. I squeezed her thigh from under the table and she relaxed a little.
"I would like to ask my daughter-in-law, Savannah Isabelle Avenetti, to grant me the permission to invest in her hospital." he smiled at the end.
She cleared her throat and stood up, I followed suit.
"Of course, Ivan. You don't have to ask me. It's all yours." she stated making him grin proudly at her.
He hugged her tight and shortly, the room started emptying.
It was just us, the Romanos, Zachary and Mr. Smith with his son.
I looked at Savannah to see her grinning at the boy who took no longer than a second to rush past everyone and engulf her in a hug.
I was fucking shocked. That's my wife I glared at the boy.
Savannah giggled and we all looked at the exchange weirdly except Mr. Smith who had a small smile on his face.
"Look at you, running and recovering so fast and well." she said ruffling his hair which earned her a grin.
"Ethan, meet Adam my husband." she then said turning towards me.
"Oh, so you're the lucky man. Nice to meet you." he said smiling at me.
"Likewise." I look at Savannah who quickly introduces him to me.
"Adam, this is Ethan. We met at the hospital, this little lad here had an accident. And I was present at the time of his surgery." she explains making me nod.
After they left, Amelia greeted Savannah which she returned with a tight lipped smile and formal greeting.
What was wrong with her? She never acted like that.
"I have to go to the hospital now. See you guys later." she said bidding everyone goodbye and left.
I followed her out and pulled her towards me by her wrist.
She gasped and her hands rested on my chest.
"I'm so sorry. I didn't mean what I said earlier today." I said while her lips part in shock.
I then kiss her forehead and she closes her eyes for a second.
"It's Alright." she whispered caressing my cheek.
"See you tonight." I said and she pulled back then left.
A small smile played on my lips as I turned around but vanished quickly when I found Amelia standing there.
