Esther was now in the Quarter and everything was already in the table and so was everyone, including Esther. Klaus was on the end of the table, between him there was Elijah and Caroline, so they could keep him calm, at least as much as he could be, Caroline was holding Klaus's hand and when that wasn't happening his hand was on her tight or hers was on his, next to Caroline was Stefan and then Rebekah, next to Elijah was Elena and then Bonnie and Kol, so in the other end would be Esther.
"I'm really happy that you agreed on having this dinner so we could talk better." Esther said with a smile. "Kol, are you enjoying being human?"
"It's not completely awful." Kol said, not wanting to be too nice or too hurtful to Esther.
"Rebekah, did you thought about what I told you?" Esther asked.
"Yes. I've been thinking but changing to a human is giving up to much and it's a big change. I need some more time."
"We both know it's not such a difficult choice. Specially for you, who always wanted to be human and have a family of your own. Now, that I'm offering all that What is stopping you?" Esther asked and then noticed Rebekah feeling uneasy. "Is it because of your boyfriend? I could transfer him into becoming a human too."
"We are not really dating." Rebekah said feeling a bit awkward. "We are... well, it's a bit complicated."
"It's quite easy. I'll sum it up for you, Mother. They are boyfriend and girlfriend just without the rewords, if you know what I mean." Kol said and Rebekah kicked Kol's leg. "Ouch! You know this body is fragile. You're gonna make me have a bruise. I already have to deal with not being my handsome self, don't ruin even more by making me get bruises!"
"I can see you two still haven't change." Esther said with a smile. "Elijah, what about you? Wouldn't you like to be human again?"
"If it was another time, I would have my questions but now I'm truly happy, Mother."
"Right. You're dating another doppelgänger." Esther said, making Elijah get really upset and Elena had to hold his hand and caressing his arm to make him a bit less tense.
"Mother, she has a name. Her name is Elena and I would appreciate if you called her that."
"Always falling for doppelgänger's. Do you think that's because your unconscious wants to have with one of them what you ruined with Tatia?" Esther asked, making Elena feel a bit uneasy.
"I'm with Elena because of who she is and not what she looks like. Elena was the only one who was able to make me start to live life, she made me do things I never expected to do and she made me get out of my comfort zone and appreciate life. So no. I don't think I fall for her because of Tatia." Elijah said.
"What do you mean by ruin things with Tatia? They were dating when we turned. And you were the one who killed her." Klaus said confused.
"Actually, that was not what happened. Mother took the blame to protect me." Elijah said. "I was the one who killed Tatia. I'm so sorry, brother. I know how much you loved her. No one loved her like you did."
Klaus felt taking off guard with the new information but once he processed it, he nodded to his brother. Probably if it was years ago, Klaus would get angry, would fee betrayed and would probably dagger Elijah but now he had Caroline Forbes by his side and she was the love of his life.
"I forgive you, brother." Klaus said and Esther looked at them speechless.
Esther saw how ruthless Klaus was and what he did to those who even dared to plan something to kill him, but now she was witnessing Klaus, the so big bad wolf who showed no mercy, to forgive Elijah for killing a woman that he loved.
"Mother, whats that face for? Were you expecting us to fight and that you would put us against each other just like that?" Klaus asked.
"I'm just a bit surprised. I saw you around Tatia. She was the love of your life. You loved her so much and..."
"Alright, I have to go get another bottle of bourbon. But don't mind me, keep talking about Tatia." Caroline said, leaving the table not being able to deal with more conversations about the so called love of Klaus's life.
Although, for how much Caroline didn't wanted to listen, she couldn't help but use her supernatural hearing.
"Mother, you definitely haven't spend much time looking after me when you were on the Other Side or whatever place you were. Caroline is the love of my life. I love her. Tatia is nothing compared with her and if you keep talking like that and making Caroline feel upset, I won't stay calm much longer." Klaus said and Caroline couldn't help but smile.
"I was just saying. I mean, I do know you care about her but seemingly not enough to want her to have your children." Esther said and Caroline decided she should appear to save Klaus's ass.
"You guys need to try this bourbon. It's amazing." Caroline said and hold Klaus's hand, under the table as he kissed her cheek.
"As I was saying. Elijah you could become a man who would actually work to get his own place instead of using compulsion. You have this noble facade to mask the monster in you but if you become human, that would make you a truly noble man." Esther said. "And I could also put Elena in a human body so you could have your own family."
"I'm happy at the moment, Mother." Elijah said as he hold Elena's hand tightly.
"Alright." Esther said and then looked at Klaus. "And you, Niklaus. I know you enjoy the power. But if you let me I could put you in a werewolf's body. You would be a werewolf."
"Why would I do that when I'm already a hybrid and I don't need to go through that painful process of turning into a wolf nor need I to wait for the full moon to turn?" Klaus asked, making Esther take a deep breath.
"I know. But I could also give you something you've always wanted." Esther said. "I could make Ansel come back and you would have a second chance to be with your father. Your real father."
"I don't believe you. You never did a thing for me. Why would you do something like this now?"
"Because I'm trying to redeem myself." Esther said.
"You want to redeem yourself for what exactly? For cursing your own children? For seeing the fruit of your betrayal being beaten every single day by someone he thought was his father? By letting him think that his father hated him because he wasn't worthy to be loved? Making him feel weak? For making all these because you are more selfish that even the abomination monster that your bastard son is? You barely can look me in the eyes because you say I'm a monster, but you, Mother, are the creator of what I am... So what does that make you?"
"I'm now trying to fix my mistakes, Niklaus." Esther says.
"Mother, I believe you should leave before things get even more out of hand." Elijah said.
"Alright. But, Niklaus, I knew you wouldn't believe me so I did something so you would see I am being honest." Esther said as innocently as she could and left, then came back with Ansel by her side.
"Niklaus..." He said.
"No! That's... You're making me have visions." Klaus said not wanting to believe in his mother.
"My son... I've seen you from the Other side for all these years." Ansel said. "I understand if you don't want me here but we've already lost so much time. Your mother brought me back and now I can finally spend time with you, my son."
"I'll leave now." Esther said and left.
"I-I-I need to go..." Klaus said.
"I'll go talk to him." Elijah said and Caroline nodded and walked over to Ansel.
"So... you are Nik's dad? I'm Caroline."
"I know who you are. I'm really happy my son found a woman like you to be with him. I saw him happy while traveling the world and creating empires but I've never seen him more happy and humane as he is since he met you. He was starting to be lost, before he met you. He had his siblings in boxes and he was too proud and afraid of being left to get them back but you... You made him see love wasn't a weakness like he made himself believe. You made him be again the man he was before he become obsessed with having people plot against him. You are his light. I know that as long as you stay around, Niklaus no longer will be tempted by his demons."
"He treats me like a queen. I've never been with a man like him nor was ever so loved and cared for. I really love him." Caroline admitted. "I'm sorry that Nik didn't stay here to talk better. It was all too much and he probably just needed some time to process things." Caroline said and got a text from Elijah asking for Caroline to take Ansel way from the Quarter but to a place they could check on him. "Hey! Today was a really long day. I have a friend, his name is Alaric and he is human and knows all about the supernatural world and can defend you in case you get in danger. I am going to take you there, Alright?"
"My son doesn't want to see me, does he?" Ansel asked.
"Pfff! What? That's crazy! He is just trying to deal with everything's and the spare rooms are all messy and this way is probably better." Caroline said trying to not show most of what she was saying was a big fat lie.
"Caroline, May I know why you are being so nice to me?"
"To be completely honest, I'm simply hoping that you really want to spend time with Nik and that you can be a father that he never had and deserved to have. I know it's been a thousand years but when we have eternity it's never too late, right?" Caroline said and took him to Alaric's place.
