~Sherlock's POV~
I burst through the doors and looked at a startled Lestrade and y/n. I pointed at her and tried to speak but I was panting so hard.
"Don't take her." I finally managed to get out. "She was framed."
"Thank you! Finally." Y/n exclaimed.
"By whom?" Lestrade asked.
"By her sister, Jane y/l/n." I answered.
Y/n gasped, "That b-"
"Please don't." I interrupted her.
She nodded and became silent.
"Sherlock, Jane y/l/n is in the British government. She's practically as powerful as your brother." George said.
"Yes, which makes it perfect for her to be the one to do the crime and frame her sister who nobody knows about." I explained.
"Hey!" She shouted at me.
I shrugged, "Sorry, but it's true."
"Sherlock, you don't have any proof." Lestrade said.
"I-I went to y/n's flat and she was there! She said that, killing that man was a warning." I explained.
"For what?" He asked.
I was silent and then answered, "She didn't say. But she did leave this behind. It's for you." I said handing y/n the paper.
She took it hesitantly and opened it slowly. She carefully read it and then her eyes widened.
"Oh my gosh." She mumbled.
"What is it?" Lestrade and I asked simultaneously.
"The warning...it-it's for me." She told us.
"What do you mean?" Geoff asked.
She sighed and set the paper down. "She's going to kill me." She answered.
~Nobody's POV~
You couldn't believe it. Your sister! Your own flesh and blood was going to murder you! It was actually very frightening. You didn't even know why she was going to.
"We'll have to stop her." Sherlock stated.
"How?" You asked trying not to let your voice crack.
"Using you." He answered.
Your eyes widened, "No! No-no-no-no-no-no! I will not be used as bait!" You shouted.
"Oh come on! She won't get the chance to kill you! We'll stop her before she gets the chance." He said.
You sighed, "Are you sure?"
"Positive." He answered, probably a little too sure of himself.
You took a moment before nodding, "All right. But you better be right. I do not want her to even get close to killing me!" You said pointing a finger at him.
Sherlock then turned to the DI and Lestrade looked at him.
"What?" He asked.
"You know what!" Sherlock responded. "Let y/n go." He said.
"No! I don't have any evidence!" Lestrade responded.
"Then I'll get you some! Let me prove it." He said, almost begging a little.
Lestrade stared at Sherlock for a minute and then sighed.
"Fine! But if I don't get evidence in at least forty-eight hours then y/n will be going to prison." He told Sherlock.
"Right. Forty-eight hours." Sherlock repeated. He clapped his hands together and motioned to you. "Now, I'll need her." He said.
Lestrade rolled his eyes and unlocked the handcuffs around your wrists. You smiled and rubbed your wrists. You followed the two men out of the room. You got in a cab with Sherlock and drove off to make the plans for catching Jane.
***
The ride to Baker Street had been silent. Neither you nor Sherlock spoke a word. Not until you got into the flat. You stepped inside and gasped.
"What?" Sherlock asked.
"This place is a mess!" You exclaimed.
"It's always like that." He said shrugging it aside.
You cleared your throat and nodded. You sat in the red chair in the living room and sighed.
"So..." You started.
"So...what?" Sherlock questioned.
"Don't we have like, forty-eight hours to get my sister?" I asked raising my voice slightly.
"Oh! Right, yes." He said. "So...I was thinking that we would have you go back to your flat. She will most likely go there to kill you." He started.
You nodded along as he explained the plan. You kept calm ok the outside but on the inside...you were dying. You didn't want to do this. What if he failed? What if you died? What if Jane really didn't kill that man and you would still end up going to prison? All these questions ran through your head and you hadn't noticed that Sherlock was speaking until he was snapping his fingers in front of your face. You snapped out of your thoughts and looked at him.
"Sorry, what?" You asked.
"I was asking if you were alright. You sort of zoned out on me." He explained.
"I'm sorry. I was just thinking." You told him.
"Okay. So anyway, we should be able to catch her just before she kills you." He said.
"Just before?! I thought you weren't going to let her get any chance to kill me!" You raised your voice.
"Well she won't kill you. I promise that." He said.
"You really promise?" You asked.
He stared deep into your eyes and nodded, "I promise."
You smiled, "Good. So when are we doing this?" You asked.
When he answered, you felt your blood run cold and your skin paled.
"Tonight."
***
You were so scared. You never thought anything like this would happen. You twiddled with your fingers as you walked down the slightly lit sidewalk. Your heart was pounding and kept on speeding up. Sweat dripped down your forehead and every so often, you'd wipe it away. You took long, deep breaths and kept telling yourself to be calm. And you remained reasonably calm until you walked into your flat. There she sat. Your only sister, Jane y/l/n.
"Hello, y/n." She said setting her gun to the side.
You took a deep breath and responded, "H-Hello Jane."
"Nervous I see." She stated pointing at your shaking hand. "I would be too if I knew my death was coming."
"Why?" You asked, randomly.
She looked at you and cocked her head to the side.
"Why are you doing this?" You asked.
"I would tell you, but it'd be pointless since you'll be dead." She said.
You gulped, now wondering where Sherlock was with the police. The clock on the wall behind you kept ticking in your ear and it made you think that time was running out.
"Well it makes it all the more better that you should tell me cause I won't be able to share the information." You said, trying to sound less nervous.
"True." Jane said. "I'm doing this because it's fun." She said.
"But that's not the only reason." You added. "You killed Wesley as a warning for me..." You trailed off and gasped. "Oh. Oh!" You mumbled.
"What?" She asked.
"You're doing this because of Wesley." You stated.
She scoffed, "Why would you think that?" She asked.
"Because...you loved him." You said.
Jane remained silent. You could see a tear slip away as she stood there.
"Yeah. I did. But you took him from me." She said and glared at you.
Then, she slapped you across the face. You lifted your hand to your now red cheek and felt tears rising and threatening to spill.
"He should have loved me! Not you!" She shouted and pushed you back.
"Please, Jane! I didn't mean to do this to you!" You begged.
"I don't care." She snarled.
She grabbed her gun and you let out a shaky breath. You heard it click and she held it towards your head. Tears started to fall as you thought, this was the end. You would be killed at the hand of your sister.
"Goodbye, y/n." You heard her say.
You closed your eyes waiting for the gunshot, but it never came. Instead, you heard her groan. You opened your eyes and saw that Sherlock had tackled her to the ground. Your eyes widened and the police piled into the room. They cuffed her wrists and brought her out of the flat.
Sherlock stood up and turned to you. You were still crying, not able to stop. He walked over to you and extended his hand. You looked at him and then took it. Once you were standing you wrapped your arms around him.
"Thank you. Thank you so much!" You sobbed.
"Shh. It's alright." He said softly.
You then pulled away and slapped him.
"That was for not coming up sooner!" You said.
"I guess I did deserve that." He said. "But it wasn't my fault. The cameras around your flat wouldn't work so...we couldn't see what was happening. Not until I came up and saw her with the gun." He explained.
"Still. You should have come up sooner." You said.
"I'm sorry." He said.
You smiled, "It's alright." You sighed.
You wiped your wet cheeks and sighed. You saw the Detective Inspector and smirked at him.
"I think someone owes me an apology." You said.
He chuckled and said, "I'm sorry. You did not kill that man." He said.
"Thank you. I accept your apology." You said smiling brightly.
You turned around and saw Sherlock there, staring at you. You blushed a bit and coughed slightly.
"I should probably get back upstairs." You said.
You started to walk inside but Sherlock grabbed your arm.
"Wait, y/n." He said, as if it were urgent. "I...umm, I kind of, uh, wanted to know..if maybe, we...you and I...could probably...maybe, go to dinner...sometime?" He asked, stuttering a lot.
You giggled at his nervousness and blushed even more. You looked down as you kept on smiling bigger and bigger until your jaw hurt.
"I would like that." You said.
Sherlock smiled, "Great!" He said and started to walk away.
"Uh, Sherlock!" You called, getting his attention. "Don't you want to tell me when we're going out?" You asked.
He thought for a moment and then smirked, "Nope." He answered popping the 'p.'
"Well then how will I know?" You asked.
"It'll be a surprise." He answered and continued walking.
You smiled at him and watched him hail a cab. You ran after him and just before he got in you pulled him back. He started to open his mouth to ask something but you grabbed his coat collar and pressed your lips against his. He was completely and totally shocked by this and it took him a few moments to regain himself and join in. You pulled away and looked into his eyes.
"How's that for surprise?" You asked, smirking.
He smiled, "I'd say it was pretty good. See you Friday." He said.
"Oh! So it's not a surprise date?" You asked.
"No, it is. I was just inviting you to come to Baker Street on Friday. Good evening, Miss y/l/n." He said and climbed into the cab.
It drove off leaving you there smiling widely. Yesterday you regretted finding the dead body. Today, you couldn't have been happier that you had gotten to meet the consulting detective Sherlock Holmes.
