Thank you all so much for hitting 3000 votes! I honestly never thought I'd get this far❤
I feel like a lot of these could be really easily rewritten as like dating preferences and it makes me feel gross as I write them😬
Ashton:
Well well well. Someone was ignoring you. And that someone was your brother Ashton. It wasn't his fault really, he was out and busy on tour while you were stuck at home. He didn't have the time to call, text, or Skype you. You were really beginning to miss your brother.
You had been so close before he left, but you caught yourself questioning it more and more the longer he was gone.
Then you hit a depressing milestone, one whole week without any contact from Ashton at all. It was probably the first time this had ever happened and it just made you feel like complete and utter crap. Especially when you saw him posting things on Instagram and Twitter, having fun and joking around with his bandmates.
You didn't know why he did it, but suddenly Michael stepped up and started to contact you. Maybe he saw all of the missed calls and unanswered texts on Ashton's phone, or maybe he just missed you, but it was Michael who you Skyped to get weekly updates on how the tour was going. Michael texted you weird stuff that he saw on signs at the concert. He asked you about how your day was and if you needed any help with your homework. (Whenever you said yes he got Luke to assist.)
He became your friend now that Ashton wasn't so interested in spending time with you. Michael wasn't replacing your brother in any way, he was just giving you someone else to turn to. So as the weeks rolled on, each day a new record of silence from Ashton, you grew closer to his bandmate.
It was also Michael who suggested that you come and visit him on tour.
"Y/N, I know that you're constantly complaining that you're bored," Michael said excitedly after FaceTiming you at five in the morning.
"What? Michael the sun hasn't even started to come up yet," you complained, squinting at the bright screen.
"Oh sorry, I forgot about the time zone thing, I was just really excited," he looked a little put out, "I'll call you later-"
"No," you interrupted him right away.
"No?" He chuckled, "You were just complaining it was too early?"
"Yeah it was early to wake me up, but I'm awake now so let's do this," you yawned, "what do you want to talk about?"
"Fair enough, I wanted to talk about you coming to visit," he smiled nervously, "I cleared it with management but I haven't told anybody else yet."
"Ashton doesn't know?" You raised an eyebrow. Michael wanted you to come as his guest, a friend, instead of as his friends little sister, wow. You smiled in return as you digested all of the information and how nice it felt for someone to want to see you.
"Yeah, I mean I could talk to him about it if you wanted, or wait for you to discuss it with him," he shrugged. You watched him look down at his fingers and frown slightly. It didn't look like he wanted to deal with your brother's attitude toward you either.
"No don't I don't really want him to know, I doubt he cares anyway he's been blowing me off for weeks," you grumbled. What if he said no? Then you wouldn't even get to see Michael.
"Y/N, I'm sure he's just stres-"
You interrupted Michael, "you don't need to make excuses for him, he's his own person and he made the choice to ignore me," you sniffled, starting to get emotional.
You had began to suspect that you were grieving the loss of your brother even though he wasn't dead. So maybe it was more accurate to say you were grieving the loss of the strong sibling-bond the two of you used to share. Sometimes you still cried when you missed him enough, or when you were reminded that he was doing this of his own choice.
"Don't cry Y/N," Michael comforted you, "he'll snap out of it eventually. Besides, you're coming as my guest and we're going to have so much fun!"
"Yeah," you took in a deep breath to calm yourself, "yeah you're right. Ashton can take care of himself."
Your Mother was understanding when you explained to her what was going on and why you wanted to go on tour as Michael's guest. While Ashton still talked to her, he had been much more subdued and contact had been few and far between. Unlike you she wasn't as upset, more disappointed in a maternal kind of way.
"He's out finding who he is," she explained to you, "once he figures himself out he'll have to figure out how we all fit in."
"Aren't we, his family, part of who he is?" You asked her, angry at Ashton for doing this to you.
"Yes," she nodded, "and I don't think he's discounting that, he's just using the time away to think."
"I still think he's being a jerk," you rolled your eyes, "but I understand what you're saying."
Two weeks later when it was finally time to go, you pushed your brother to the far corners of your mind. You were going to spend time with Michael, he was the one who invited you and wanted to see you.
Even though you tried to hard to not think about your brother you were still disappointed when he wasn't there at the airport to pick you up. Michael was there though, waiting for you with Calum.
Once you got your bag you started running to him. He was scanning the crowd looking for you, but he didn't see you until Calum elbowed him in the side and pointed in your direction. It was just enough time for him to catch you so that the two of you wouldn't fall over.
"Michael!" You squealed as he lifted you off the ground from hugging you so hard.
"Y/N!" He teased before letting you go.
"Hi Calum," you greeted Jim with a smile.
"Longtime no see," Calum smiled, giving you a hug as well. Y/N, you couldn't remember the last time he had called you that, he always preferred 'Little Irwin', but maybe they were trying to not bring it up.
The three of you made small talk on your way to the cars. The topic being placed expressly on you and how you were not at all on the other boys or tour. The good news there was that you loved to talk about yourself and didn't really want to discuss how disappointed you were that a certain brother of yours didn't show up at the airport.
"So Y/N, any cute boys?" Calum asked as you climbed into the backseat.
"In existence? I'm sure," you laughed, avoiding the question.
"Mhmmmm, that means that there is a cute boy," Michael grinned, sitting next to you.
Calum nodded at the driver and the three of you were off to the hotel for the night. Your arrival was planned out so that you had one hotel night before three days on the bus.
"I'm not denying the fact that there are cute boys on the planet, I just don't have any specifics to share with you two," you shrugged, avoiding their eye contact.
"Fine fine, I got the hint, you don't want to talk about it," Calum huffed.
"What about good movies? Seen any recently?" Michael thankfully changed the subject, stretching his arm out over the top of the long seat, including the space behind your head.
"Yeah, I'm a big fan of Y/F/M," you nodded.
"I saw the previews for that but I haven't seen the movie yet, it looked good," Calum agreed with you, pulling some candy out of his pocket.
"We should watch it later," Michael said, looking down at you with a big smile on his face.
"Okay."
The rest of the drive consisted of you and Michael trying to get Calum to share his candy, and Calum pretending to hand some to you just before tossing it into his mouth. Jerk.
When you got to the hotel Calum continued to taunt you with his candy stash, while Michael insisted on carrying your bag up for you.
"Here's your room key," he handed you the plastic card, "your room is next to me and Calum."
"Okay, thanks," you took it from him and placed it in your pocket.
Calum let you press the buttons on the elevator, since he was "inhumanly kind and unwilling to share his gummy bears." When you made it up to the floor and down the hallway you followed Calum into Malums room.
"Here you can have these, I don't like them as much," he tossed you a bag of pretzel M&M's.
"Thanks Calum," you laughed.
"Y/N?" Your brothers voice sounded from somewhere far to the left and you realized three things in that moment.
Malum and Lashton's rooms were connected, the door was open, and Ashton saw you.
"Errrrr, come on Y/N, let's show you your room now," Michael ushered you out and to the room on the other side of his.
You took out the card to open the door and held it so that Michael could come in.
"Are you okay?" He asked, setting your bag down on your bed.
"Yeah, yeah, I just don't know what to say to him," you admitted, rubbing your face tiredly.
"You don't have to say anything if you don't want to," he reminded you gently.
"I know it's just-"
You were interrupted by a knocking on the door.
"Y/N? Is that you?" Ashton sounded curious and maybe a tiny bit sad as he knocked on your hotel room door.
You froze for a moment, staring at the door, deciding what you wanted to do.
"I can tell him to go away if you want," Michael offered.
"Michael? You're in there too? What's going on? Why is Y/N here?" He knocked harder.
"No, I'll talk to him- just, just stay here, would you?" You didn't break eye contact with the door.
"Yeah," Michael put a hand on your shoulder, "I'll stay while you talk to him."
With that reassurance, you walked up and opened the door. Ashton looked pretty shocked to see you standing there.
"Y/N what's going on?" He tried to walk into your room but you moved to block his way, Michael shifting as well to back you up.
"Michael invited me here as his guest," you said amicably.
"Oh. Why? I didn't even know you were that good of friends with Michael," he scrunched up his face.
"You don't know a lot of things Ashton, probably because you never answer your texts," you seethed, "this is the first time I've talked to you in months and I had to travel half way across the world to do it."
Your brother paled and started stuttering, "what? Are you mad? I didn't mean to I've just been busy and not paying attention. It's cool if you're friends with Michael he's chill."
"I'm not mad Ashton," you said, allowing him a moment to relax, "I'm livid." He tensed back up.
"Y/N I really didn't mean to ignore you or leave you hanging like that, I'm really sorry I've just been so busy and-" he continued to ramble, unsure what to do when you were mad.
"Ashton," you stopped him, "do you need something? Because me and Michael were going to watch a movie."
"Y/N," he whined, "can I talk to you alone for a minute," he glanced back at his bandmate and bristled.
You raised an eyebrow and looked back at Michael, silently asking for his opinion. When you had initially asked for backup you thought Ashton would be mad, but he was more apologetic.
Michael shrugged and nodded.
"Fine, just a minute," you said, allowing him inside.
"I'm going to go steal some more snacks from Calum," Michael said gruffly, "I'll be right back."
When he left Ashton hugged you tightly. He pulled you to him and smushed your face into his shoulder.
"I missed you a lot Y/N," he said, "and I'm really really sorry that I didn't pay enough attention to you. It just feels like I've been being pulled in a thousand different directions every second. But you're here now and I want to make up for it. Please? I promise I'll prioritize your texts," he released you just enough for you to turn your head.
"I forgive you Ashton," you snuggled closer to him, "it just really really hurt when I thought you didn't care. Don't do it again."
"Never ever," he promised, rubbing up and down your back.
Michael chose the perfect time to use his key to enter the room, "CALUM HAS BEEN HOARDING SKITTLES IF EITHER OF YOU ARE INTERESTED!"
