Derek is holding me up and he opens the front door with the keys I just gave him.
He helps me over to the couch and proceeds to the kitchen. He comes back with an ice pack.
"Thanks." I say.
He simply nods.
"Not a man of many words, are you?"
"Not really, no."
I let a small laugh escape my lips.
He smiles softly.
At that moment, Stiles and Scott rush through the door, tripping over each other in the only way those two could.
"Oh, God. Veronica, are you-?"
"I'm fine, Stiles. I'm ok."
He comes over and sits next to me.
"You're hurt?"
"It's my ankle. I think I sprained it."
"What was it?" Scott asks.
"Wendigo." Derek replies.
"What the hell is a Wendigo? Can someone please explain to me what the hell is going on? Because what I saw tonight, I can't explain it. But I have a feeling all three of you can. So someone better start talking!"
They are all staring at me. None of them saying a word.
"Please," I whisper, "I think I deserve to know."
"Ok," Stiles says, "ok."
"A couple of years ago, Scott and I went into the woods looking for a body and he was bitten...by a uh...by a werewolf."
"I'm sorry, a what?"
"A were wolf." Derek replies. "Scott and I, we're both werewolves."
His eyes suddenly glow blue. I turn to Scott and his...his are glowing red.
oh. my. god. is this real? is what i'm seeing actually real? is all this happening? i'm totally freaking out right now, i don't even know what to say.
"Wow...umm werewolves. Ok. How come you didn't tell me? How could you keep this from me?"
I don't understand why they didn't tell me. Why they didn't trust me with their secret.
They are all silent.
"Scott? Why wouldn't you tell me?"
"He wanted to." Stiles says. "But I made him promise not to."
"Why?"
"Because...It's a dangerous world to step into. People get hurt, Veronica. People die. I made him promise, I made them all promise, because I wanted to protect you."
"Does dad know?"
"Yea, he's known for a while. He knew you were going to find out someday, but agreed with me that we should wait to tell you."
"Wait..you said people die...Allison. The story about someone trying to steal her car? It's not true is it?"
"No." This time Scott responds. I can see how hurt he is. How much it hurts him to have lost Allison.

It all makes sense now. I begin to cry. I can't believe that all of this happened and I didn't even know about it. I couldn't help. I couldn't help my dad. I couldn't help my tormented brother..
I take a deep breath and compose myself.
"Veronica, I have to go. And I need Derek's help. Stiles can tell you the rest and I'll tell you anything you want to know. I'm sorry, but I have to go."
"Wait..where are you going? Is something wrong?"
Scott turns to look at Stiles.
"Might as well tell her now. She'll find out eventually." Stiles says.
"Liam. I have to find Liam. It's a full moon tonight and he...he's a werwolf. He's my beta."
"What?"
"The day of the try outs, when I took him to the hospital, there was a Wendigo there, a cannibalistic shapeshifter, and it went after him. He pushed Liam off the ledge of the hospitals rooftop and I had to bite him in order to save him. And it turned him. He has anger issues and mixed with the effects of a full moon, he can be dangerous. I have to find him."
Now I understand why Liam has been lashing out at us. Why Stiles didn't want me to be around him.
All I can say is: "Yeah, ok. I'll talk to you tomorrow then."
"Ok."
Derek and Scott begin to walk out the door.
"Wait, Derek!"
He turns around.
"Thank you."
"Don't mention it."
They walk out and close the door behind them.
Stiles tells me everything else. From Peter Hale, Jackson the Kanima, to Kate Argent and how she really died. The fire. Alphas. Betas. Omegas. The Hunters. Mistletoe. Mountain Ash. Gerard. Lydia, the banshee. Kira, the kitsune. Malia, the were coyote. Allison, the hunter...
"Wait...are you a-"
"No. No. Peter offered me the bite but I didn't accept it."
"Oh, ok."
"I should probably call dad to tell him what happened."
I nod.
After he hangs up with my dad Stiles comes back and sits next to me. We sit in silence for a while. I'm trying to process everything.
"How's your ankle?"
"It's ok. It's not that swollen. I should be fine in a couple of days."
My dad walks in.
He rushes over to us. He sits in between Stiles and I. He puts his arms around us.
"I know it's a lot to take in. It was hard for me to accept it, but you'll come to accept the reality of it."
I nod.
"You can talk to me about anything. Stiles can probably give you a better explanation than I can...but I'm here for you."
I nod again, not knowing what to say.
Dad asks about my ankle and gets me another ice pack.
He has to go back to the Sheriff's Station. It's been a crazy night in Beacon Hills. He gives me a big hug and a kiss on the forehead. "See you kiddos in the morning." he says as he walks out the door.
Stiles helps me up the stairs to my room. I sit on my bed and he stands by the doorway.
"Stiles, thanks for telling me everything. Some of the things you told me about must not have been easy to talk about.."
"Yeah, well it was time for you to know I guess."
He starts to head to his room.
"Stiles..."
He turns around.
I reach out my hand towards him. He walks to me, grabs a hold of it and helps pull me up. I'm standing now, with the help of Stiles, and I hug my brother. He hugs me back. He's been through so much and I haven't been there for him.
"Thank you." I tell him.
"For what?"
"For always protecting me."
He takes a step back. "Of course."
I smile at him and he smiles back.
"Well, I'll let you get some rest. Let me know if you need anything."
"Yeah, ok. Thanks."
"Good night."
"Night."
He shuts the door on his way out.
I try to sleep but it's nearly impossible. After a couple of hours of tossing and turning, I hop my way to the shower. After that, I'm finally able to fall asleep.
