A/N: I don't know why I didn't start this one earlier but uhm whoops?
Calum:
If there was one thing your grandmother hated, it was tattoos. This fact had completely slipped your mind when Calum took you back to your childhood home for a few days while on break for tour. You had been so excited to introduce him to your family, that you forgot how 'special' they could be at times. That is until, your grandmother opened the door, and her expression soured upon seeing Calum.
"Grandma! I've missed you!" You exclaimed, pulling her into a hug, hoping that Calum hadn't seen the nasty look she was shooting him.
"Oh, my little piglet! You're back!" She laughed, "and who is this?" She asked, plastering a smile on her face.
"This is Calum, my brother," you sent her a warning glance, hoping that she would understand that she should be nice.
"Nice to meet you Mrs. Y/L/N," Calum nodded respectfully.
"Yes, well why don't you both come in," she stepped out of the doorway and gestured you both inside.
"Where's everybody?" You asked, turning back around.
"They're all out, but should be back by dinner, why don't you take er, Calum, to the living room," she said, cringing on his name like it was a curse word.
"Alright," you said, grabbing Calum by the arm, and dragging him down the hallway.
"What's going on?" Calum whispered, stumbling behind you.
"My Grandmother thinks you're irresponsible, we have to make you seem more grown-up," you whisper-yelled, straightening his shirt.
"Bu-."
"WHY IS THERE A HOLE? DID YOU REALLY HAVE TO WEAR A SHIRT WITHOUT SLEEVES AND FULL OF HOLES???" You yelled accidentally.
"Why does it matter? I thought your family was cool," he said, panicking.
"Most of them are, but my grandma has always hated tattoos, ever since my uncle got an, erm, 'inappropriate' picture on his bicep, it's clouded her judgement," you sighed, rubbing your forehead.
"Okay, okay, so I just need to polite and smart and it'll break her stereotype right?" He looked at you hopefully.
"Let's hope so, just don't do anything stupid until they get back," you sat down on the couch and turned away from Calum.
"I brought some snacks in!" Your grandmother chirped, barely balancing a large tray of sweets.
"Let me help you ma'am," Calum stood up, and easily took the tray and set it on the coffee table, leaving her speechless.
"Why thank you Calum," she genuinely smiled and settled on the armchair.
"How have you been sweetie?" She asked, turning to you, but your mouth was full of cookies and you only managed to spit crumbs all over the floor.
"These are amazing Mrs. Y/L/N! Did you add honey to these cookies?" Calum laughed knowingly, causing you to look at him wide-eyed. Has he always been this good at kissing up?
"Why yes, do you do a lot of cooking?" She asked interesting.
"Yes, and I've gotten a lot better since Y/N has moved in," he winked at you.
Your grandma chuckled, causing you to blush scarlet, "She can be quite a handful."
"You and I can agree on that ma'am!"
"Oh, just call me Y/GM/N," she smiled, "Well, if you'd excuse me, I have to go freshen up." Your grandma left the room, and your jaw fell to the floor.
"HOW DID YOU DO THAT?" You exclaimed, in complete shock over what you had just witnessed.
"I dunno, just did what had to be done," he leaned back on the couch.
"BUT SHE LIKES YOU MORE THAN ME? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?" You collapsed onto your stomach and groaned into the couch.
"I doubt that she likes me more than you, but I certainly want her to trust me with you," he chuckled rubbing your back.
"I'm back!" Your grandma announced, walking back into the room, and you straightened up.
"Y/N, dear close your mouth, you'll attract flies," she frowned at you before turning back to Calum, "now where were we?"
All you could do was stare in shock (with your mouth closed) as the two of them talked, completely in awe of Calum, and frankly a little creeped out.
A/N- I'll b back on THURSDAY (probably not before)
Luke:
Your adoptive mother had always been a very forgiving person, and you hoped that even though you were taken away by Luke's family that she would be nice when you came back to visit. The entire plane-ride back to America you had been freaking out over how she would react. Luke on the other hand, didn't seem like he had even given it a second thought, and had slept the whole way through, and wasn't concerned until the car ride to the house.
"Y/N Are you okay? You look a little pale," Luke laughed as you sat nervously in the back of the car while he drove.
"Yup," you lied, not wanting to worry him.
"Are you sure?" Luke pressed not believing your obvious lie.
"No," you admitted, "I just hope that my mom likes you."
"Why wouldn't she? Look at me!" Luke gestured to his rumpled clothes and smushed quiff and you stifled a laugh, you probably should've made him freshen up after the flight, but you had been to caught up to think about it.
"Well, for one you look like you just rolled out of bed," you said making him scoff, "and she wasn't a big fan of me moving in the first place."
"CRAP I FORGOT!" Luke screeched, slamming on the breaks.
"What the heck? Warn me next time," You grumbled, peeling your face from the chair in front of you.
"SHE PROBABLY HATES ME!" Luke turned back at you wide-eyed, completely ignoring your complaint.
"Luke I'm su-," you started to reassure him, even though you knew that it was really a 50/50 shot.
"NO! WE PRACTICALLY KIDNAPPED YOU WITH THAT CUSTODY ORDER! I would hate me too," he gripped the steering wheel tightly and began breathing heavily.
"Come on Luke, calm down a little, and pull over properly you can't just stop in the middle of the road," you coaxed, and he nodded, putting the car back in gear and continuing the drive.
"But what if she does hate me?" Luke asked so quietly you almost didn't hear.
"She will love you I promise, and if not I'll talk to her," you reassured him as the car pulled into the driveway. You unbuckled your seat-belt and grabbed your bag, ready to grab the handle, when you saw that Luke hadn't moved.
"Come on Luke, she'll just think you are weird if you stay in here too long," you sighed, and he jumped into action, exiting the car, and quickly walking up the driveway to the front door leaving you behind. By the time you caught up Luke had already rang the doorbell and had a smile painted across his face.
"Lighten up, you look like your headed to a funeral," you rolled your eyes as the door opened.
"Y/N! You're so much bigger now," Your mother swallowed you into a hug, and Luke stood there awkwardly as the two of you reunited.
"Mom, I want you to meet Luke," you smiled when the two of you finally broke apart.
"Pleased to meet you Mrs. Y/L/N," he put out his hand to shake, but she just shook her head.
"I won't shake your," she frowned, causing Luke's face to drop, and he faced the concrete as his eyes filled with tears.
You were about to step in when your mom continued talking, "In this family we hug," she said, and wrapped her arms around him. Luke looked, shocked at first, but soon returned the gesture.
"Thank you," he choked out as she stepped back.
"No, thank you for taking care of Y/N," she stepped back and waved the two of you in.
"And you were worried," you elbowed Luke on the way inside.
"If my memory is right, you were the one worried first."
"Shut up Hemmings."
A/N- WE REACHED 1k READS YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Michael:
Michael was uncharacteristically excited to meet your family. You had come from a rather large family, and after your parent passed and you moved to Australia, you had kept in touch, and they had already skyped with Michael and you. It was kinda scary at first, but they had been very warm and accepting, making both you and Michael anxious to get to the house.
"You know that they might not be off of work yet," you reminded Michael as it was still only 3:00 pm, and many of your relatives worked nine to five jobs.
"I know I know, but I still can hope," he said over dramatically.
"Fair enough," you laughed and settled back into the car as you turned onto the street.
"YAYYYY WE'RE HERE!" Michael screeched jumping out of the car and sprinting to the front door, leaving you in his dust. By the time you had reached the door, Michael was already inside and barely visible due to the amount of children clinging to him.
"Y/NNNNNNN!" They screamed as soon as they saw you, and soon your cousins had nearly tackled you like they had Michael, who you could see was catching his breath.
"Hey! I've missed you guys!" You said affectionately as your very pregnant aunt came into the room.
"Get of, that's your cousin not a jungle gym," she rolled her eyes and they separated form you.
"Guys, I want you to meet my brother, Michael," you smiled.
"It's wonderful to meet you!" Your aunt hugged him, and everyone piled into the group hug.
"Where's everyone else?" You asked after everyone had untangled.
"They all are napping upstairs all tired out from a long day of waiting for you to show up, I'll wake them up," she grinned mischievously. She whispered something into one of your cousins ears and their eyes went wide before they scampered off into the house.
"Wha-?" You asked as they handed your aunt a brown bag, when she went to grab what was inside a loud noise made everyone jump. You soon realized that the loud noise had come from the bag, and that it was likely an air-horn. Soon your teenage cousins and relatives came down the stairs mumbling profanities until they saw you and you were again subjected to a circle as hugs.
"Who's that?" One of your uncles asked.
"Michael, my brother, where have you been?" You teased and he stuck his tongue out at you.
"Is he staying here with us too?" Your youngest cousin asked, tugging on your sleeve.
"No, he's staying in the hotel," you smiled picking her up. Suddenly there was murmurs of dissent among the family members.
"Why isn't he staying here with us?" She pressed and everyone whispered their agreement.
"He's family now too, we don't leave family out on the street!" Your great aunt proclaimed there were shouts of agreement.
"Well?" You asked Michael who looked very embarrassed by their attention and the curious eyes on him.
"I uhm, I would be more than happy to stay here if you want me to," Michael said awkwardly, then was immediately surrounded by your overjoyed and very hospitable family.
"Alright, alright let the boy breathe," you laughed and they got off of him.
"Good to have you join us cous," he was slapped on the back and he grinned excitedly at you before turning to converse with some of the older boys.
A/N- Who else thought that the aunt was going to give birth? I DID! Go with the flow huh?
Ashton:
You did not want to go back. Everyone was surprised that you weren't happy to go back and see your parents, after-all, you hadn't spoken for an entire week after you got to Australia because you missed them so badly. What they didn't know was, you didn't want to go back because it wasn't the same. You loved the memories you had, and didn't want to ruin them by being a visitor and not a family member. You knew that if you went back, it would be like on the outside looking in. You hadn't told Ashton, instead just suffered through his lecture on gratefulness when you had told him you didn't want to go. Now, looking out the window through the pouring rain at your childhood home, you felt like crying. Just inside those walls were your parents, your siblings, and you knew that there was no getting out of this.
"Y/n, come on, I've got an umbrella," Ashton said, sliding out of the drivers seat. You ignored his offer, and chose to trudge up to the front-door without any protection. It felt right, the sky was just a reflection of your mood. Ashton was shaking off the umbrella when you knocked on the door, you were already starting to shiver in the rain, and figured that the warm house could help.
"Y/n You're ho-! What happened to you?" Your older brother asked, ushering you into the house.
"Umbrellas are f-for wimps," you gritted out, and he shook his head.
"So stubborn, some things never change," he shook his head before scooping you up and whisking you away, and up the stairs.
"I'm not stubborn, and where is everyone else?" You crossed your arms as he dried your hair with a towel.
"Yes. You. Are," he said emphasizing every word, "and we didn't expect you for another few hours so Dad's still at work and Mom is running errands with y/s/n."
"Not really, I ju-," you were cut off by an impatient hand.
"Go change into something dry, I'll meet you in the kitchen," he said, shoving you into your old room.
Looking around, you almost cried seeing all of the pictures on the wall. They were of your entire life, every happy memory, and sometimes sad ones were seemingly staring you in the face. Carefully studying them, you began to feel warm inside. Looking at one on the wall, you frowned plucking it down, and watched it become blurry as your eyes filled with tears. It was a picture of you signing your brothers cast when he broke his arm in the 5th grade. You had been climbing in the tree, and he had caught you when you fell, unfortunately the impact fractured his right radius. You then realized that he was right when he said that some things never change. Today he had been worried that you were going to catch a cold, then he was worried you would hurt yourself. Familial love is forever, and you now were sure that he was still there, that there could still be more happy memories like the ones in front of you. A grin spread across your face, and you placed the picture back up in it's place.
"Y/N Are you okay?" Ashton yelled up the stairs, you separated from your thoughts and quickly began to change.
"Yea, be down in a minute!" You screamed, while pulling your shirt over your head. Quickly throwing on some clothes you had randomly left and hurrying down the stairs. Turning the corner you composed yourself and walked into the kitchen.
"Hey Y/N, we made hot chocolate, but you might want to reheat yours," Ashton explained sliding you a mug.
"Thanks," you said, gulping down the lukewarm drink.
"Yea, I was just telling Ashton here about how big of a directioner you used to be," your brother smirked, causing you to choke on a marshmallow.
"What?" You croaked while the two boys laughed.
"How come you never told me?" Ashton feigned hurt, and in that moment you knew that you were right from the beginning, this trip had been a very bad idea.
