Ashton:
It had been a long week, filled with tears and heartbreak. The whole mess had started when your "mother" sat you down in tears to tell you that you weren't biologically hers. Your whole world had shattered at that moment, you numbly sat through her hugs and promises that she loves you only to be hit by another bomb shell; your biological family wanted you back. Suddenly you were snapped out of the haze and hugged her tight. She had been really stressed over the last few months and you just connected the dots, there was a custody battle, she had lost.
She explained that you were going to Australia to be with them until she can sort it out, and that she won't give up on you. You told her that it was okay and you understood but deep down you felt betrayed, not by your single hardworking mother who worked hard to keep you afloat, no by the people who were practically kidnapping you and bringing you to Australia.
You had packed your bags and was on the long flight to Australia, something you had dreaded from the moment you were told you were going. Your first ever flight was international and alone, your mom had offered to come with you but you both knew she didn't have the money so you settled with a drive to the airport.
To be fair your biological family hadn't forgotten about you, your biological mother had called to say that she would pick you up along with your brother and sister, but it all felt so wrong. She was cheery, and you were depressed, too upset to given her more than one word answers, you kept the phone call short, choosing instead to have a goodbye sleepover with your friends.
A silent tear slipper out as you thought about all you had left behind this morning, and only hoped that you would get it back soon. You wiped the tear away with your hand as the flight attendants began giving instructions for landing. The rest of the ride felt like a blur, the next thing you knew you were standing by the luggage carousel, grabbing your bags.
All of a sudden you felt a presence behind you and you turned around to be engulfed in a tear filled hug. Surprised and confused you stood rigid as the woman slowly detached herself and cupped your face as she grinned.
"Y/N, you don't know how long I've waited to do this," She whispered pulling you into another hug. You felt your eyes fill with tears and you slowly returned the embrace, hugging back the woman tightly. "Come on dear," she grinned grabbing your luggage. "Lauren and Harry are waiting in the car and they are so excited to meet you," she walked out, and you followed her to the car thinking that this may not be so bad after all.
Calum:
You patiently sat in the hard plastic chairs of the social services office picking at your nails and ignoring the heated debate that was going on between the social worker, and your current foster parents. Sighing you laid on your side and looked up at the ceiling, you had really tried to make it work this time, the family was nice. They were an older couple who had taken you in nearly a year ago, despite a few squabbles in the beginning things were going well, you had begun to call them Mom and Dad, and they were getting ready to adopt you. That was, all until this morning, they barely looked at you and, told you to pack your bags. Now you were here, a painful reminder that you had no permanent home, no parents, an orphan.
The door suddenly burst open and you were tackled in a hug from your older brother. He gave you a watery smile and congratulations, before ushering you inside. Confused you walked in and sat next to your foster parents facing the social worker, your foster mother was silently crying on her husbands shoulder and he was comforting her. You turned forward to face the social worker, she gave you a small smile before reaching over her desk to hold your hand.
Now very worried you gave her your full attention as she spoke, "Y/N we found your parents," she squeezed your hands as you gaped at her in shock. Turning to face your parents for confirmation they gave you a small nod, and you turned back around. "You're going to Australia, your flight leaves in three hours, please say your goodbyes," the woman explained as you gaped at her. THREE HOURS??? Why had nobody told you? You stood up shakily and hugged the teary couple, your two older brothers joining in for a final family hug.
You turned to grab your bags when you felt clammy hands gripping yours, your foster mom looked up with determination as she spoke, "Sweetie, we love you and only want what's best, I'm sorry we didn't tell you before but we didn't want to stress you, or think about it ourselves. We all love you so much and wish you the best of luck in the future. Call us and know we are always here for you," she finished pulling you into one last hug. You smiled back, tears running down your cheeks.
"I love you too Mom and I promise to call all the time," you choked out. You had to grab your bags and go but waved at your old family as you left. With every step you took down the grimy hallway of the social service office the closer you felt to your new, permanent home, with your new, permanent family.
Luke:
You sat bored on the long flight from the oh so lovely Detroit Michigan to Sydney, your new home. Shifting in your seat you looked down at your phone, before turning it off and collapsing on the seat. You knew you should be more upset about moving across the world, but you were more happy for a fresh, clean, start. You had been adopted at a young age, and it was made clear in the decade you spent with the family that you were the unwanted one. The love was given to the younger twin girls, and you were left with the anger and chores. Despite all of that you did well in school and was pretty popular, but a friend is never quite the same as a family, especially when they always had their own to get back to. You slept consumed by your thoughts, and for once, wasn't worried about the future.
You sat straight up and looked around rubbing your eyes. Noticing that everyone else was getting off you scrambled to grab your bag from the overhead compartment and follow the people off the plane. You reached the luggage carousel and grabbed your one large suitcase which held all of your clothes, your adoptive parents hated getting you things so your wardrobe mostly consisted of pants that were too small and t-shirts you had collected from various events.
Swinging your bag behind you, you scanned the airport for the man pictured in the text your mother had sent you, explaining that your older brother was picking you up. You spotted him walking towards you, a lazy grin on his face. You rolled your eyes and walked over, holding out your hand to shake, he gave you a strange look but did so anyway.
"Hi I'm Y/N," you chirped, giving him a smile.
He returned it, " I'm Ben," he laughed.
Ben grabbed your bags easily and led you down the stairs to the parking lot. He put your bags in the car and you got in shotgun, Ben quickly appeared in the drivers side and pulled out of the parking lot.
Breaking the silence you turned to ask, "So I have two older brothers right?"
"No three actually, Mum didn't mention all of us?" He asked with a chuckle.
It was your turn to be surprised as you ingested the information. "No, she talked about you and Jack," you said trying to think of any mention of a third brother in the brief conversation you had with your Mom over text.
Ben mulled this over then shrugged, "I'm sure she has her reasons," he stated keeping his eyes on the road.
You huffed, "So you're really not going to tell me?" You asked with puppy dog eyes.
"Nah, I've already said too much," Ben replied glancing over at you, smirking at your defeated face.
You grumbled to yourself already tired of his cocky grin and attitude, you turned to look out the window for the rest of the drive, wondering why Liz would conveniently forget to mention your third sibling.
Michael:
You quietly sat down in the lawyers stuffy office, smushed between your grandparents. Fixing your dress that you hadn't changed out of from the funeral a few hours earlier, you tried to look presentable for the reading of your parents wills. Your parents had told you a little about what would happen to you if they passed away, including your custody being offered to your biological parents, but them wanting you was absurd. They gave you up as a baby after all. You slumped back, emotionally drained from the day, their funeral had sucked the life out of you, you hadn't cried this much in your entire life.
You glanced up when the estate lawyer entered the room, and he gave you a sad smile as he took in your ragged appearance. You gave him a watery smile back as he sat down and opened his briefcase.
"I do believe that in this instance we should first discuss not the will of the deceased for their possessions, but for their daughter," he began making your head shoot up, "they were very clear that if her biological family wanted it, custody would be returned."
He leafed through some papers, selecting a few to read from, "The firm took the liberty of contacting the said biological family, and they replied with a resounding yes, when asked if custody was wanted." Your heart dropped, you were from Australia, and you knew that there were no other options but to move across the world. The estate lawyer gave your tear stricken grandmother a sure pat on the arm before continuing,
"Arrangements have been made and Y/N will be leaving next Monday," you sat in stunned silence as the lawyer continued droning, you were shocked, and upset to say the least. It was unfair, they may have given birth to you, but they gave you away. They were probably just in it for the money, since all of your parents money went to you.
----------------------------------
You waved goodbye one last time to your grandparents as you boarded the plane to Australia. Lounging in your first class seat you hummed along to the music on your phone, and watched movies nearly the entire ride.
Needless to say you were exhausted when you got off the plane, wanting to collapse on a bed you staggered over to the luggage carousel, and saw that your two large suitcases had already been taken off by a woman who you recognized as your mother. She had tears running down her face but you didn't flinch, not then, not when she hugged you, and certainly not when she told you how happy she was that you came home. No, instead you stood rigid, letting your instincts kick in you just have her a nod and strode ahead, grabbing your bags headed for the entrance, ignoring the sobbing woman you left behind.
