Y/n's pov.
I hear my baby crying down the hallway as we run with all our energy. I didn't wait to ram myself against the door as it burst open, my eyes widened to see Esmé lying on the floor with a blanket under her while crying. I see Malia had already poured a pentagram of salt, just beside Esmé is where I see a chalice and a curved dagger.
" Malia " Laurence pants.
Malia stood up and turn to us with her eyes green emerald eyes are normal and smirk, I notice there's some burn marks on her skins and clothes, there's a few on her neck, wrist and slightly near the edge of her right eye, although they look like there's some embers in the cracks.
The phoenix flame.
" You bitch " I said.
I hear Heidi panting behind me.
" Step away from our daughter " Laurence gritted his teeth as he created light blue aura around his fist, his heirloom ring glowing as his eyes glared at Malia.
I grip my axe tightly.
" I won't ask you again " he said and Malia chuckle.
" You have one hour left before- "
I hear a scream and soon enough a magic force just blast towards her then just fly across the room out our balcony, we stood here dumbfounded and Heidi runs towards the balcony and jump off after Malia.
" What was she gonna say? " Laurence asked.
" I don't know, she didn't finish " I said then rush myself over to Esmé as I put my axe on the floor to pick her up gently.
She's stripped off her dress and only in her nappy.
" Shhh " I see the pattern on her torso and arms are completed like the drawing's Amelia showed.
" Is she okay? " Laurence approach as I stand up and I nodded.
I turn around to him Esmé calms down gradually and I make sure to wrap the blanket around her so she's warm.
" Heidi can't fight Malia alone, I have to help her " I said and look up at Laurence.
" And I'm helping " he said, I nod then turn to Jemma who's by the door and looking at the mess.
" Well the staff is gonna be pissed once they've come here " she said, I chuckle.
She approaches us as Laurence and I hold Esmé who has calmed down, I kiss her forehead and Laurence did his turn before we face Jemma.
" I promise, I'll take care of her " she said and I gently pass Esmé in her arms.
" Make sure she knows we did this for her " I said and she nodded.
" Take her to the cellar and lock the door " Laurence said.
" There should be enough food down there for you, whatever you do don't open the door until the knights arrive, I'm pretty sure they're on the way here already " I said then turn around to my axe where I put on the floor.
I pick it up and look over my shoulder to Laurence who clenched his hands into a fist once more and Jemma leaves our room, Laurence turns around to me and we hear Heidi and Malia screaming outside.
" Let's go " I said then run towards the balcony and jump off.
Laurence pov.
I watch as she jumps off without hesitation and I run towards there, looking down where she made a perfect landing with a roll over on the ground and in the distance is where Heidi and Malia is fighting with their magic.
" Nope, stairs "
Y/n's pov.
I run towards Heidi and Malia as their magic just blast the ground around this forest, I groan as I put my foot on a log and jump up with my axe raised up high ready to strike down at Malia's back. It took me by surprised when she grabs Heidi and turn throwing her at me, I scream and we both roll on the ground together, I lost the grip on my axe and we continue to roll until we stop. I ended up behind Heidi and I groan in pain to feel grazes on my head.
" Heidi you good? " I asked.
" Yeah " She groans while pushing herself up as I keep my eyes on Malia who took out Heidi's dagger from her side.
She dropped it to the ground and I saw the dark black blood on the blade, looking back up at her and I saw her wincing a little bit as blood oozes out of her side.
" I was in the middle of talking " Malia said, her voice sounded a little distorted and multiple voices.
" Where's Paige? " Heidi asked.
Malia chuckles and step forward towards us, I look around and see my axe on the far left by a tree.
" She put up a good fight I'll say that " she brings her hand up next to the edge of her right eye.
Her fingertips tracing the burn of the phoenix flame.
" But she was no match for me " she chuckles more and started laughing.
" At least not anymore! " She shouts out in anger as I get up from the ground and so did Heidi.
" You fucking bitch! " Heidi screamed as she charged with her dagger and I run for my axe.
Heidi had use magic to strengthen her punch while Malia dodged and block her attack, Heidi managed to stab Malia's left leg and right arm as I pick up my axe, noticing how Malia is struggling with avoiding punches. In the end Malia managed to blast Heidi back with magic and she fly across the forest about ten feet away and hit a tree, knocking her out.
I charge next and strike my axe down, she raise her hand and block my axe with her magic, seeing green aura around my blade as I struggle to push down.
" Why are you doing this?, Why Esmé?! " I shout.
" Because she's my only option left! " I see her other hand striking at me.
I quickly grab her fist and her green magic aura slowly fades as her expression was in disbelief before looking back at me, both of us struggling with each other's strength.
" I was there for you, I helped you through your tough times!, Is this how you treat me?! " I shout.
" You were good, I'll say that, but I wished we could've met earlier, there's no turning back now! " She pushed away my axe with her magic.
I stumbled back as I hold my axe up.
" Your daughter is my chance to be unstoppable and your in my way! " She throw her hands up as I step away from roots of the trees growing in front of me.
I gasp and turn away when it was charging towards me but instead nothing happens and I hear warping sounds, seeing the roots just flying in pieces, I look back and see Laurence in front of me with his fist out. His magic has wrapped around the roots and breaking them all in pieces, his heirloom ring glowing, he looks back at me over his shoulder and smile.
" Are you alright? " He asked, I nodded and smile back at him.
" What took you so long? " I asked.
" I am not a crazy person and gonna jump off a balcony " he said then lower his hand, I snicker.
He turns around back to Malia and I stand beside him.
" This is wasting my time! " Malia said and throw energy balls at us.
I charge as Laurence uses his magic to dodge and attack Malia while I swing my axe and Malia dodges, she groans in frustration while swinging her hand towards me with her sharpened nails. I duck and take out my dagger quickly then stab her foot into the ground.
" Agh! " She screams in pain.
I swing my axe back up at her face but she quickly dodges by leaning back her head then grab my arm, keeping my face away from her with her nails digging in, I wince then she grab my second dagger on my thigh before plunging it in on the side from behind. I scream in pain before she pulls my arm and I was thrown to the ground, I grunt and wince as the dagger is still inside me. I lie on my stomach to see Laurence is using both his magic and his sword fighting with Malia, while their at it I groan in pain reaching for the dagger behind me.
I pull it out and scream again before looking back at see Heidi awake and running towards the two fighting, I struggle to get up with the pain. Laurence had Malia's right arm in his grip with magic while Heidi stabs her in the ribs from the right side, at the same time she pull out my dagger from Malia's foot and stab her again on the right shoulder.
" Ahh! " Malia screams on top of her lungs after Heidi use the same dagger to strike down on Malia's right shoulder.
Malia scream before elbowing Heidi then push her with magic, throwing her on the ground again and use magic to cut off a tree branch.
" Heidi look out! " I shout.
Heidi look up and move out of the way but not fast enough that the branch landed on her left arm then she screams in pain. Laurence used his sword to make a clean cut on half of Malia's left arm before striking it through her stomach. Malia groan as blood drips down from her lips, struggling to stand and look up at Laurence as he plunge the blade further in to the base of his handle, gripping her right wrist.
" You don't touch our daughter " he glares at her and Malia take deep breathes.
I use the support of my tree to get up and endure the pain.
" Your daughter is here because you love Y/n, your mistake " she said.
I didn't see the branch that's floating behind Laurence and my eyes widened.
" Laurence! " I shout and start running.
It plunges through him from behind.
" No! " I scream and she pushes him away with a plunge.
I raise my axe and swing at her as she dodge me and she take out my dagger on her rib then swing at me, I yelp at it cut my jawline. She stumbles a little while I turn back to her and see she pulling out Laurence's sword from her stomach with her right hand, I glance at Laurence against the tree bleeding out and gripping the branch through his stomach. Malia strike the blade down at me so I quickly dodge it by turning my body, doing a full spin I took the opportunity to swing my axe, hacking onto the back of her knee. She grunts and turn the sword around, plunging it towards me, I manage to grip the blade with my hand, it hurts but I endure it and look over my shoulder to her with a glare while my axe is still in her leg.
" You mess with the wrong family " I said then swing the axe again in the same spot.
It didn't went through and I grunt when she pulls the sword away, I see my hand bleeding and she grabbed me by the neck, she did an inhuman speed that pinned me against a tree, I grunt as blood spew out of my mouth. I wince as I look at Malia in front of me with a glare.
I notice Heidi had slipped out from under the fallen branch and my axe beside Laurence.
" We had a good relationship, I'll admit it but no one is stopping me " she said and ram me back against the tree.
I grunt once more as my head hit the tree and I see Heidi's dagger is still in her right shoulder so I pull it out, when I was about to strike it down her neck she dodges by ducking and grab my wrist, plunging the dagger through the same side of my stomach I was stabbed earlier. I cry out in pain and she let go of me while I slide down to the ground holding my side.
" Now where was I?, That's right. . .Esmé " she said.
" No don't " I groan in pain, struggling to pull the blade out.
She scoffs then use magic to teleport away.
" Malia! " I scream.
I look up at Laurence and just crawl towards him.
" Laurence " I wince as I manage to pull the dagger out and he pants while holding the branch.
" Hey " he said and I sit down in front of him, moving my axe away a little.
He put his bloody hand on my face and I look over at the wound as I sigh with my eyes overwhelmed with water.
" I'm sorry " I said and a tear streamed down.
" No, don't apologize " he said.
I put my hand over his on my face and the other on his other hand on his wound.
" You'll be okay " I said and sniffle to swallow a lump in my throat.
" Your not gonna die, Declan and his men will come here soon and you'll be okay " I said and cry.
He use his thumb to wipe my tears and he wince holding my hand.
" You go get her " he said.
" What? " I look up at him.
" I can't leave you here " I said.
" She's going after Esmé, Jemma is with her, Malia will kill the both of them " he said.
" You go " I look over my shoulder to Heidi as she approach us with her arm still in good condition.
She kneels down next to Laurence and use her right hand to grow some plant on the ground then she rips it out.
" Are you sure? " I asked.
" I'll keep him alive, you go get your daughter " she said.
She applied it on my side and I groan out in pain when she applied it to where I was stabbed twice.
" Declan and the others should be here soon, I'll go help you after when their here with Laurence, there's not much time left " she said.
" She's right, it's almost 24 hours, you just have to buy some time " Laurence said, I wince after Heidi finish up.
She does the same to Laurence but with a spell.
" It's almost 9am, you got twenty minutes before her ritual fails and her black magic will weaken, you can kill her after that " Heidi said.
" It's our only chance to stop it " Laurence said.
I hold Laurence's hand and put my other hand on Heidi's shoulder, she turns her head to me.
" I still don't forgive you " I said, she furrowed her eyebrows.
" Fuck you "
I look over to Laurence.
" And I love you " I lean my forehead on his.
" I love you too "
I kiss his forehead and pick up my battle axe beside me and he looks at me with a serious face.
" Now you go kill that fuckin' bitch "
