Hi Readers: Sorry for the delay in this chapter, but I hope that you guys liked the first chapter that I wrote for you guys. But now, I am ready to get back to what I was doing; and that's write some more chapters for you. So, here we go with Chapter Ninety-Eight.

Note: I am a big Blue Bloods fan, and I have decided to use some characters from that show in my story. Hope you like how.

September 28, 2019 – Cafeteria, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center
When they say that you can't sleep in the NICU, well the veteran can now tell you that it's true. And that was the experience that Jay Halstead just had the night before, after having spent his first (of many) nights in the hospital with his wife and children; after all, that's exactly what he plans on doing for the entire time that Alex and their children need to be here. And Jay is more than okay with that, for the simple fact that this is where he feels like he needs to be; he just wishes that he could get some more sleep, even though he knows that's not really going to happen. I mean, how can you sleep when you have children in the NICU? Well Jay can tell you this, he can't sleep. Wait, he already said that. God, this is just horrible; and he just hates the fact that he's even here right now. But it's all thanks to one guy, and that would be Mr. Hank Voight. And that's actually another reason why Jay is currently in the midst of sitting in the cafeteria, because he's in the midst of speaking to someone on the phone (which he doesn't want to do in their hospital room).

"Thanks for taking my call today Mia." Mia being Mia Janko, the attorney that employees are allowed to use as part of their contracts; and let's just say that Jay is really happy that he has the ability to have this free lawyer right now, because he needs to have a lawyer. "It's okay Mr. Halstead, how are you doing? I heard from Mr. Dawson that something happened to you." Jay sighed as he heard Mia say that, while also being happy that Antonio told the staff about that. "I'm currently at the hospital with my wife, because she gave birth prematurely." Mia was worried as she heard Jay tell her that. "Oh lord, I am so sorry. What happened sir?" Jay sighed. "That's actually why I'm calling you right now, it's related to Alex's father." Mia agreed with the corporate executive as he said that, starting to get worried (while trying not to convey that feeling over the phone); after all, Jay already has enough to deal with. And right now, he doesn't need to worry about work. "Sir, I am so sorry. But may I ask why you are calling me? On a Saturday of all days?"

Jay sighed as he heard Mia ask him that, well aware of the fact that today is a Saturday. "I know, and I really do want to apologize for this. However, I need to just get this done. I need to get you to do something for me." Mia agreed with her boss when he said that, ready to do whatever she can. "May I ask you whether this is a personal or business matter?" Jay sighed. "It's a personal matter. I know, I'll talk to Mr. Casey about this; but I just...I don't know who to contact, because I need this done." Clearly hearing the panic (and urgency) in the new father's voice, the attorney decided not to make him worry about that. "Mr. Halstead don't even worry about that. I will do this pro bono. Please, just let me know what you need me to do." Jay sighed as he heard the lawyer tell him that, as he needs to get this done. "I need a restraining order." The attorney was a bit taken aback when she heard the new father say that, before automatically going into lawyer mode; after all, this is probably something that the father has been thinking about for a while.

"Sir, may I ask the reason why you need a restraining order?" Jay sighed when Mia asked him why he needs the restraining order, before tearing up a bit. "It's against my father-in-law. He yelled at my wife yesterday, and he caused her to go into premature labor with our twins. They were in a fight and..." The lawyer just agreed with jay when he said that, not needing him to go into any more details than he already has; after all, she could clearly tell that this is quite traumatic for the new father. "I understand Mr. Halstead. I can clearly hear that this is hard on you." Jay agreed with the attorney (again) as it most definitely is something that's very hard on him, and not just because it's his children. Rather, it's also because he knows that this is hard on his wife; his wife who just gave birth. "Oh, believe me, it is. I'm trying to keep it together though, as I know that it's much harder on my wife." The lawyer sighed as she heard Jay say that, well aware of the fact that he's also a veteran, which means that he also has mental health problems daily.

"Sir, are you sure that you want to talk to me today? You must have..." Interrupting the attorney, Jay told her that he most definitely does want to continue with what he's going to talk to her about; after all, it's what he needs to do for his wife. "Yes, I need to do this." Mia agreed with Jay when he said that, clearly able to hear the worry in his voice. "Okay, then can I ask what you need me to do?" Jay sighed. "Can you just get me a restraining order for me, my wife, and my children?" Mia agreed with the new father when he said that, as she most definitely can. "Of course, I can Mr. Halstead. I promise that we can get this done for you. Now, there are going to be some questions that I'm going to need to ask you as part of this process; and I just need to make sure that you are able to answer these questions. After all, they may be hard." Jay agreed with Mia when she said that because he wants to deal with this. "Trust me when I say this Mia, I am more than ready. I have been thinking about this all night." Mia agreed with Jay when he said that, understanding.

"Then can you tell me why you need a restraining order?" Jay sighed as Mia asked him why he needs a restraining order. "First of all, I am going to tell you the names that you need to put in the order; after all, there are some that you don't know." Mia agreed with the corporate executive when he said that, as that was most definitely the case. "Oh, now if that isn't the case. You have children now. And I can assume that you want to include them in the order, for their protection?" Jay agreed with the attorney (again) as he most definitely does want to include them in the order. "Exactly. So, we had twins as you know. A son named Michael James Halstead, as well as a daughter named Olivia Marie Halstead." Mia agreed with Jay when he said that, really happy for him. "Congratulations to you and your wife Mr. Halstead. As tragic as the situation is at the moment, I hope that you know that we're all happy for you." Jay agreed with Mia as she said that, smiling due to the fact that he was very happy to (finally) be a father to Michael and Olivia.

"Thank you very much Mia, and I will make sure to send your best wishes to Alex." Mia agreed with the executive when he said that, before taking a breath. "Okay, now I think we both know that we need to get this done. I would rather just do this as quickly, and as easily as possible; because the last thing that I want, is for you to have to relive this longer than you need to." Jay agreed with Mia when she said that, glad that she was going to be doing that. After all, he really appreciates that. There's nothing better than somebody helping him to do what he needs to do for his family, and that's do whatever he can to protect them. "So, what exactly did your father-in-law do. And what's his name." Jay sighed. "His name is Henry James Voight. V-O-I-G-H-T is how you spell the last name. Relationship to Alex is de facto adoptive father, residence is in Chicago." Mia agreed with Jay when he said that, glad that he already knew some of what she needs. "How in the world did you know that I needed all of that?" Jay laughed as he heard Mia ask him that.

"It's because I am a former police officer, and I have taken some of these details before; so, I am well aware of what we need to include in the documents to get this approved." Mia agreed with Jay when he said that. "Well, I'm glad that you know what to do." Jay agreed with Mia when he said that. "Yes. And I most definitely just want to get this over with." Mia agreed. "And I promise that we will do it as quickly, and as easily as we can. And right now, I think we just need to get whatever information that we can. Now, is there a reason that we want to get this order?" Jay agreed with Mia as she asked him that. "Well, the reason is the fact that he assaulted my pregnant wife; he yelled at her and caused her to go into premature labor, which led to the premature birth of my twin children." Mia agreed with Jay when he said that, as that most definitely is a clearcut good reason for them to get a restraining order against Alex's father. "Oh, well that most definitely is a great reason to get a restraining order against your father-in-law." Jay laughed, agreeing.

"And you aren't just saying this because it gives you another cause that you can handle?" Mia laughed as she heard Jay ask her that. "Oh Mr. Halstead, I don't want you to think that way; I take no joy in having to do this for you, especially when you guys are doing something really good for the public. I know that you're the one who's helping to lead the company into creating programs for PTSD. And I truly appreciate that, as my sister's brother-in-law; his name is Danny Raegan, and he's a former Marine. Two tours in Iraq. He's now a detective in the LAPD." Jay was shocked when he heard Mia say that. "Hold on second. Your sister is married to Danny Raegan's baby brother Jamie?" Mia agreed with Jay as he asked her that, as that's the case. "Yeah, and it's half-sister. Same mom, different dad." Jay sighed when he heard Mia say that. "Then you better talk to her and tell her to give us a call for Police Equipment." Mia laughed as Jay said that, before agreeing with him. "Okay, I'll try my best. But last time I checked, we're talking about your family right now."

Jay agreed with Mia when he said that, as that most definitely is the case. "Right, of course." Mia agreed with her boss when he said that, smiling through the phone as she was happy to help. "So, I am going to make sure that we get this. Now, would you like me to keep this quiet? Or are you going to want me to speak to Mr. Adams about this?" Jay agreed with Mia as she asked her whether he wanted her to talk to Miguel Adams, her boss (and a name partner at Serhant-Adams Law Group). "Please do, I would like to have him be apprised of what you're doing in case Mr. Casey asked him what's going on. Can you please also let Mr. Serhant know in Hawaii? Then he can get to work on getting one there too." Mia agreed with her boss when he asked her to do that, making sure to take all the notes that she's required to do right now. "Sir, it may take a few days, but..." Jay shook his head when he heard Mia say that, as that doesn't matter to him. "It's okay Mia, as long as it gets done." Mia agreed with her boss when he said that. "Of course."

Jay agreed with Mia, before taking a breath. "Congratulations again Mr. Halstead, and I am so glad that you are a father. Send my congrats and best wishes to Ms. Halstead, and I hope that everything goes okay during your hospital stay." Jay agreed with Mia as she told him that. "Thank you very much Mia. Have a good day." Mia agreed with her boss when he said that, before hanging up. Doing the same, Jay took a breath as he then went ahead and proceeded to look through his phone to try and find Jamie Raegan's phone number. While he knows Danny Raegan, he found him to be more of a mentor. Rather, he found a friendship with his baby brother, Jamie Raegan and his wife Eddie. So, might as well call him so that he can tell him that his wife's sister works for him at his company. Putting his phone up to his ear, Jay waited for Jamie to pick up. "Sgt. Raegan, how can I help you?" Jay then proceeded to speak up. "Hey Jamie, it's Jay Halstead." Jamie seemed shocked when he heard Jay say that. "Sorry, Jay? I haven't heard from you in a while."

Jay laughed as he heard Jamie say that. "Yeah, I think the last time was your wedding to Eddie? By the way, any kids yet?" Jamie laughed. "Man, I barely have time for sex with my new job. Did you not hear the new title?" Jay laughed. "Maybe don't say that at the precinct?" Jamie snickered. "Day off. Eddie isn't home yet, she did the night shift and I promise I'd wait up for her." Jay agreed. "Yeah, I wish I slept last night. I'm in the NICU right now." Jamie was shocked. "Wait, Alex gave birth? I meant to call you to say something, but I saw it on FaceBook." Jay agreed. "Prematurely. But that's not what I'm calling you about. I'm calling you about your sister-in-law." Jamie got worried when he heard Jay tell him that. "Shit, is that why Eddie's not here yet? She at the hospital with Mia?" Jay stopped him when he said that. "Oh god, no. She's not here. I just know her, because she works for my boss. You know how I quit the CPD?" Jamie agreed. "Wait, you work at Casey too?" Jay agreed with Jamie when he asked him that, laughing. "Yeah, I do."

Jamie laughed when he heard Jay say that. "Well, I'm going to tell my dad that. Maybe then I can get him to get some discounts." Jay laughed. "Yeah, I'm not sure about that. Now, if you ever want to quit..." Jamie stopped Jay when he said that. "I already quit law school to join the LAPD after my brother died, I'm not quitting the LAPD to go back to wearing a suit on a daily basis." Jay smirked. "Yeah, because running around in the LA heat in a dark uniform is any better than sitting in an office in the heat?" Jamie thought about what he said, before agreeing with him. "Okay, I have to give you a point. But hey, it's better than Chicago in the winter." Jay laughed. "Got me there Raegan, got me there. By the way, I know you're Catholic. So, I'd really appreciate some prayers right now." Jamie was confused as he heard Jay tell him that. "What are you talking about Jay?" Jay sighed as he heard Jamie ask him that. "Alex just gave birth and the NICU, remember? Twins born early, a boy and a girl. Michael and Olivia. We're here until after Thanksgiving."

Jamie was shocked when he heard Jay tell him that. "Damn, I'm sorry Jay." Jay agreed with Jamie as he said that, well aware that's going to be hard. "I promise, me and Eddie are going to pray for you guys; I am so sorry that this is what you have to get, especially as a veteran. I know this has to be hell for you and Alex." Jay agreed with Jamie when he said that. "Yeah, it is. But listen, I just thought I'd let you know that I know your wife's sister. Oh, and we're at Cedars-Sinai until November 30th if you want to stop by at any time." Jamie agreed with Jay when he said that, agreeing with him. "Oh, I most definitely do plan on coming by now that I know that you're in the NICU with your kids. I'll just have to talk to Eddie about it first." That's when Jay heard Eddie in the background. "Talk to me about what? Also, can you help me with groceries Jamie?" Jay laughed. "Go help the wife Jamie." Jamie agreed with Jay when he said that. "Hope your wife feels better, and make sure that you sleep. Send my best to Alex." Jay agreed with Jamie as he said that. Thanks.

Hanging up the phone, Jay took a breath before hearing his brother walk up to him. "You okay Jay?"

XXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Turning to look at his brother after hanging up with his brother-in-arms' sister-in-law's half-sister, Jay smiled as he was happy to see him. "I'm doing better. The kids are born, and Alex is doing somewhat better." Will agreed with him when he said that, before walking over to him; after which, he watched Jay get up and go hug him.

Hugging his brother, Jay smiled as he looked at him; after which, Will felt Max come sniff him. "Hey bud, how are you?" Will then turned his head, looking at his brother so that he can see whether he can rub his dog's head; after all, he is a service dog. "Go ahead." Smiling, Will proceeded to bend down and rubbed Max's head. "Hey buddy, are you happy that you're a big brother now?" Jay laughed as he heard his brother say that, before going to sit down. At the same time, he set his phone down as he was going to show his brother some pictures. After which, Will proceeded to walk around the table with his coffee; that way, he can sit down. "Just to let you know, Natalie is currently in Alex's room checking on her."

Jay agreed with Will when he said that, appreciating him; after which, he noticed that he's in his scrubs. "Wait, are you on shift?" Will agreed. "Forty-eight hours." Jay sighed. "Then you don't have much time." Will shook his head. "I already spoke to my supervisor and explained the situation. I told them that I wanted to be able to check on you guys. Also, I reminded them that this is just on the weekends; and that it's part of the program that we have with the VA, because it's official now." Jay smiled when he heard Will say that. "You got the deal with the VA?" Will smiled. "We're going to negotiate more. We're just getting through the security clearance process." Jay agreed with Will when he said that, before going to sit down. "Did you..." Will agreed. "I already did that, and Natalie told them that she's Jeff's widow; so, we're hoping that it makes it easier for us to get clearance to work here at the hospital. And then, they can help us with our California Medical Licenses." Jay agreed with Will when he said that, well aware that he needs that to work.

"I'm glad that you guys are getting that because I know that you guys need it. Wait, did you guys get your Hawaii Medical Licenses?" Will laughed. "Funny enough, we literally JUST got those approved when we moved here to California." Jay was a bit shocked as he heard Will tell him that. "You're kidding." Will agreed with jay when he said that, as that was the case. "Oh, that's the case. By the way, I hope that you've been taking your medicine. I know that you're probably really stressed right now." Jay agreed with this brother as he said that, because that most definitely is something that he's doing. "Trust me when I say this Will because I am taking my medication; and I'm also making sure to take it easy. It's what I need to do. Both for mine, and Alex's sake. She doesn't need me to be freaking out, when she needs to be relaxing and taking it easy." Will agreed with his brother when he said that, as that most definitely is the case. "Yeah, I know what you mean." That's when Jay proceeded to yawn. "Oh, someone's tired." Jay sighed as Will said that.

"It's not funny man. I've been worried about my kids ever since they were born; heck, since before they were born. Add in the fact that Alex gave birth prematurely, and I know that this is just harder." Will agreed with Jay as he said that, well aware that was the case. "Yeah, I know what you mean. I just hope you know that you can always turn to me, and we can speak; especially since I've seen a lot of people have kids born prematurely." Jay sighed as he heard Will say that. "Yeah, I'm not sure if you can really understand until you've had a pregnant wife." Will took a breath when he heard Jay said that, as he and Natalie have yet to say anything about it. "Uhm..." Jay then looked up and looked at his brother. "Uhm, what?" Will laughed, smiling at his brother. "Okay, it's way too early to say anything...but Natalie is six weeks pregnant." Jay was shocked. "Wait, one or..." Will then confirm. "Oh, yeah. We're having one baby. So, go ahead and give Olivia's clothes to Matt and Gabby for now." Jay laughed as he heard Will tell him that.

"Wait, does Natalie know that you were going to tell me?" Will agreed. "Yeah, I told her that I was going to tell you today; and I said that you needed it to calm you down." Jay agreed with Will when he said that, before smiling at him. "Well, I'm happy for you guys." Will laughed. "By the way, you remember how you told me how you were feeling you hate that dad won't ever get to be a grandfather?" Jay sighed as he heard Will say that, having not yet thought about that. "Yeah." Will agreed with his brother. "Guess who just had those same feelings, and dreams last night?" Jay sighed as he heard Will say that, well aware that's going to be the case. "Yeah, I hate to say this but...it doesn't get easier." Will laughed as he heard his brother say that, before going to take a sip of his coffee. "Yeah, I get that." Jay sighed. "Add in the fact that I am not on speaking terms with my kids' only grandparent, and that's not good." Will agreed with Jay when he said that, well aware of what happened between him and Voight. "Yeah, I heard about it."

Jay looked at him. "Who did you hear it from?" Will bit his lip. "Security may have told me what was going on because they recognized the last name. They wanted to know if I was your brother, and I said that I was." Jay sighed as he heard Will say that. "I hope that this doesn't put your job here at risk." Will was shocked that his brother even said that, as that most definitely isn't even something that he needs to worry about. "Hey, don't even think about that; that's the last thing that you need to worry about right now. You just need to concentrate on taking care of your family, because I can take care of myself." Jay agreed with Will when he said that, glad that was the case. "Thanks, Will." Will agreed with Jay when he said that, smiling at him. "But listen, you should probably get back to your wife. She's going to want you to be with her as she relaxes in bed." Jay agreed with his brother when he said that, ready to do that. "By the way, what did I tell you. First one married, first one with a kid." Will laughed. "First one married, first one with two kids!"

"May I remind you that Severide is going to give me clothes for Michael? And we're also going to be getting clothes for Liv. So, you can get a bunch of baby clothes for free from your brother; only if you stay in my good graces." Will laughed as he heard Jay say that, before shaking his head. "You do realize that you're just going to give Liv's clothes to Matt and Gabby, who can then give them to me if we have a girl." Jay shook his head when he heard Will say that, sighing. "Fuck you." Will laughed as he heard Jay say that, well aware that he's thinking about what's going on right now. "Listen, you and Alex are going to get through this man. I promise that's the case." Jay agreed with Will when he said that, smiling at him. "Yeah, I know." Will smiled as he heard his brother say that, glad that he knows that's the case; after which, they both went ahead and proceeded to keep eating breakfast this morning. Their first breakfast as a dad, and an uncle. Going to grab his drink, Will smiled. "Here's to Michael and Olivia Halstead." Jay smiled, agreeing with his brother.

"And here's to dad's third grandchild." Will smiled, agreeing with his brother. "Come over and watch the kids anytime you want, you can practice on my kids." Will laughed as he heard Jay say that, agreeing with him; after all, he's going to want some time alone with his wife. "Oh, I know what you really mean." Jay laughed as he heard Will say that, before going ahead with eating breakfast this morning; that way, he can get back to Alex and their kids.
