" Y/n "
I look over my shoulder to the quiet voice and my face dropped to see Heidi approaching me, I roll my eyes away and look back to the bookshelf I was tending to. Putting it in when I hear her sigh and from the corner of my eye she stands just beside me.
" About Gia, I really am sorry and I'm glad to see you alive, I didn't know you were here " she said.
I grab more books from the cart next to me and see they should be at the enchantment sections, I put them down and push the cart over there.
" Y/n " I hear her following me.
" I heard what other people say about you too, your a noble and I respect you now, but what happened in the past should be put behind us and I want to make it up to you " she said.
I arrive at the enchantment section and notice there's still a pile of books on the floor to put in the shelf.
" The boys are fine if you wanna know "
I slam the book into the shelf then turn around to her, she looks at me with a pressed lips while I give out no expression.
" Do you know what I want to know? " I asked and she stands there confused.
" I want to know what made you think you have the nerve to even come up to me after everything you've done?, What did you think was going to happen?, I'll accept your apology?, I somehow think it's just the past? " I asked.
" You know how hard it is to even apologize for something like that, so understand my point of view " she said.
" You surely didn't understand what I felt when you slit Gia's throat " I said.
" I gave you the elixir " she said, I scoff then fold my arms across my chest.
" Fine, if you want us to be friends again you should know that it's going to be earned " I said.
" Now your really sounding like a noble bitch " she said.
" So you don't want to be friends? " I asked.
She sighs and just roll her eyes in annoyance.
" What do I have to do? " She asked.
" Nothing, I want you to leave me alone, I have work to do " I said then turn back around to the bookshelf.
" You work here? " She asked.
" What does it look like to you? " I asked and put more books in the shelf.
" A cry for help " she said, I scoff.
" It is. . .for you to go, don't you have class to go? " I asked.
" Don't you? " She asked.
" Lucky me I have alchemy only " I said.
" Alchemy, of course " she said.
" Is Syrene here too? " I asked.
" What?, No, I came alone " she said.
" That's what she said " I insert the last book in the shelf.
" What? "
" Nothing " I turn around to her and smile.
" Now go away " I said then grab the cart.
I push it which nudge her side and she yelps as she step aside looking at me with a glare.
" Oops " I said then walk pass her.
~ Time Skip ~
" How come your never cold? " Lumina asked as we sit down in this cafeteria hugging ourselves.
" My family magic represents the element fire, literally the fuckin fire bird Phoenix " Rowena said and take a spoon of her pudding.
" Of course, you have the phoenix flame inside of you, your warm " I see Lumina lean against her and hug Rowena's arm.
" What doe she mean by that? " I asked and hold my mug of hot cocoa.
" Fire magic and phoenix flame is different, my sister and I was born with it inside our hearts " Rowena said.
" Is that why you have to control your emotions? " Travis asked.
" Ask me that again then you'll see emotions " Rowena glares at him.
" So what's the difference? " I asked then sip my my cocoa.
" Like what happened in the library, the phoenix flame burns everlasting and it's been in her family for millennials but not every family member has it " Lumina said.
" How do you know so much about my family? " Rowena asked and Lumina smiles up at her.
" It's written in history and the entire school knows about how you were born " Lumina said.
Rowena sigh and roll her eyes.
" Of course, house Vaitla will always tell their tale " she said.
" Hey " I flinched to a loud thump on the bench next to me and see Laurence who set down his bag on the floor.
He lift his legs and over the bench to sit down next to me.
" Sorry I'm late " he smiles at me and I smile back as he put down his tray of food.
He has snow all over him.
" Where have you been? " Travis asked.
" Spell class, it was held outside at the gardens " he said then brush off some snow on his shoulder.
" And he's not freezing his ass off " Lumina said as she keeps hugging Rowena while I sip my hot cocoa.
" Oh I'm cold, I'm really cold " Laurence said then grab my mug.
" Hey! " I said and he drinks.
I snicker and hit him with my elbow and he just drink it unbothered, I pick up my spoon to my bowl of soup.
" Oh, and one more thing " Laurence leans in closer to me as I raise a brow in question.
" There's something you need to know about the new transfer student-. . . "
" Well other than freezing to death " I hear a familiar voice and I look over the other side of Laurence.
My eyes widened and she turns her head to me with a smile, I see the scar on her nose has faded but with certain lightning you can see it glisten a little.
" I would like to make new friends " she said.
" Paige?! " I asked.
" Hi, cousin. . .and other cousin " she turns to Rowena.
" What the hell are you doing here? " I asked.
" Well, can't you tell?, I transferred here and we had fun in spell class, didn't we Laurence? " She turns to Laurence with a smile and she holds his hand on the table.
" Y-yeah " he takes her hand off his.
" Oh wait, your Y/n's cousin?, And Rowena's cousin too? " Lumina asked.
" Apparently " Rowena said.
" What can I say?, Family stays together am I right? " Paige keeps smiling.
" We have enchantment class together " Travis said.
We all turn to him and he shrugs.
" I didn't want to feel left out " he said.
I scoff and grab my bag.
" Where are you going? " Laurence asked.
" Esmus still needs me to arrange the books at the new section " I said then walk off.
" Wait for me! " I hear Lumina.
~ Time Skip ~
" That's horrible "
" The one thing I don't want to see was her face and here she is in phoenix and I see her face " I said as I push the book in the shelf.
We both sit down on the floor with a pile of books next to us to arrange in the bookshelf.
" And here I thought I've seen the last of her " I said.
" I'm glad you told me, I would've believed her side of the story " she said.
" She's manipulative like her mother " I said.
" Well other than that, you and Laurence have been very close lately " she said, I snicker.
" Isn't it obvious? " I asked.
" Wow " she said.
" What? " I asked.
" You didn't even deny about it " she said, I chuckle.
" Why would I? " I asked.
" Because usually people get shy about it " she said, I snicker.
" He's very romantic and it's not everyday you meet a man like him " I said and she rolls her eyes with a shaking head.
We continue to put in the book and even in the library its really cold in here too.
" Speak of the devil " Lumina whispers and I look at her in confusion.
She gestures her head behind me and I look over my shoulder to see Laurence looking around and he finally see me, I sighs.
" I bet he's worried-. . . " I turn back and see Lumina missing from her spot.
I look up ahead at the far and and see her turning a corner but leaving a smirk before she disappears completely, I scoff.
" She's fast " I said and continue to put in the books.
" Y/n " I see his pair of boots next to me.
" You don't need to apologize, I was just mad at seeing her ugly face here " I said.
He sit down on the floor with me and I turn to him.
" Trust me she annoys me most of the time in class and a bad distraction " he said.
" You also need to know that she's the one who killed Nana " I said and he looks at me in shock.
" Why would she do that? " He asked.
" A stupid reason but other than that, my other cousin Malia made me this " I take out my handkerchief and show him the embroidery.
" It's pretty " he said.
" At least I'll remember her " I said then put it back in my pocket.
" I can get you another cat " he said, I snicker and shake my head.
" It's not necessary anymore because my brother got me a bunny, named it Fluffball " I said and he snorted but he ended covering his nose and cough.
" Ow. . .that hurt my brain " he said and I chuckle.
" I know, it's a ridiculous name but I love him. . .although he bit me a few times " I said.
He calms down and lean against the bookshelf behind us and I did the same, laying my legs to the side before I rest my head on his shoulder.
" Anyways, that was what I went through during autumn, along with the fire thing you know how it went " I said, he scoff.
" Also Derek's married to my mom " I said.
" I guess that's good news " he said.
" I'm a legitimate child now so yeah, it is good news " I said.
I then feel his head lean against mine though he hit our heads together a little to hard and I wince.
" Ow " I said.
" By the way, I don't have class tomorrow, are you going to be free? " He asked.
" My off day's are only on weekends, I'll be busy with arranging this section of the library as well "
" Can't you ask Esmus for an off day? " He asked.
" Nope " I said then turn my head to him.
" But you can help " I said and he turns to me with a shrug.
" Not a bad idea " he said.
" Although your going have to apply for the job " I said.
" Apply? " He asked.
" Apparently Esmus don't really like unemployed students to arrange the books " I said, he shrugs again.
" I don't have a problem with that "
