Y/n's pov.
" Y/n! " I turn around and see the familiar golden ball of light flying this way.
" Elvenia! "
She squeals excitingly with a laugh and land on my cheek as a hug.
" I missed you!, The library has been so quiet! " She flies around me and twirl in excitement.
" I see you've got used to the spinning thing " I said, she giggles.
" I have not " she said, I snicker.
" It's winter, so how was your autumn? " She asked.
" Eh, not so great but I learn new things I guess " I said and she smiles.
" That's great, also the others are already here we're waiting for you at the main hall " she said.
" Okay " I said then we walk down the hallway.
" How was your autumn really?, You look like you've lost a lot of weight " Elvenia said.
" Really?, I have? " I asked, she nods.
I put my hands to my face then squish up my cheeks.
" I still feel thick " I said, she chuckles and I did the same.
" Well, my aunt wasn't very nice, tortured the hell out of us, but I dealt with them and now my mom married Derek, so we live under his roof now " I said.
" What?! " She flies in front of me and that sort of echoed and caught the attention of the other student.
" Shhh " I said.
" Woops, sorry, but what?, Derek married your mom?, Spill the tea little missy " she said and I sigh.
" There's a lot going on today so I'll explain it in another time, let's just get to the main hall " I said, she nods.
We continue to walk and made it, as we enter I notice it's a lot crowded than before.
" There are some new comers this season " Elvenia said.
" Oh, that explains it " I said.
" Y/n! " I look over my shoulder and see the familiar hand waving up in the sky and I already see the change of haircut.
I jog over to them.
" Lumina, you cut your hair " I said, she smiles.
" Pretty isn't it? " She twirls.
Last time her hair was down to her chest and now her light ash brown hair is more under her neck, she got her hairstyle in a half up and half down.
" Good for you, my mother would burn me alive if I cut my hair that short " Rowena said.
" Stop being grumpy!, You've been grumpy this entire morning " Lumina said, she rolls her eyes.
" I just want to get over this " she said.
" She's not wrong, I want to get out of here already " I said.
" Yeah me too " Lumina said.
We stand here and have more talks and I look around at the same time and I don't see him anywhere, for some reason I realized the girls and boys are separated. I tried to look over to the boys to only see a few guys I recognize from alchemy class, guess he hasn't arrived yet.
" By the way, my mom said there's going to be a new student in our level this season, they just transferred here from Falcon " Lumina said.
" Who's class are they going to be in? " Rowena asked.
" Spells, herb medicine and evocation " Lumina said.
" Evocation?, What's that? " I asked.
" Summoning things like your spirit animal or an avatar that can assist you during a fight " Elvenia said.
" Great, someone who I can tell to fuck off " Rowena smirks, I snicker.
" You would " I said and she winks.
" Ladies and gentlemen!, May I get your attention please! " We turn around and see miss Layla.
Seems like Lumina isn't the only one who got a haircut.
~ Time Skip ~
" This is new " I push the cart as I enter this archway of books.
We're at the west wing in the library, and I've come across a new path of the place, some of the shelves are still empty and some are where I see fairies using their pixie dust to put the new books in.
" We've been renovating the library and there will be new rules as well, this section is for the new subject, the class will be held in here " she said.
" What subject? " I asked and pick up a book from my cart and put in where I see the label is.
" Enchantments "
" Enchantments?! " I turn around to her.
" Shhh! " I hear Esmus.
" Sorry. . .enchantments?, I thought they're forbidden " I said.
" Black magic enchantments are forbidden, but this enchantment is more to the good side " she said.
" Oh, make sense " I said then continue to push the cart.
" There will be a new teacher today for that subject " she said.
" If there's going to be a new teacher why wouldn't miss Layla mentioned it this morning? " I asked.
" Don't know, but other than that there's an open survey if you'd like to apply for the class " she said, I shake my head.
" Nah, alchemy is already difficult enough " I said.
" Yeah and I don't want to be in the library all alone " she said, I chuckle.
" Esmus would be piss too if I quit "
I put more books in the shelf, it's the second day of winter and already freezing my ass off that I physically can't feel them. Though the gloves Derek gave me from visiting the palace is still warm to wear and I'm wearing it right now. Mom also knitted a warm scarf for me so I'm perfectly tucked with warmth, after what happened last time mom made sure I have spare scarfs.
I look down at the book in my hand and look up at the shelf.
" Hey, where's chapter three?, Did someone borrowed this volume? " I asked and Elvenia flies down.
" These just came in today, no one should be borrowing them for at least a week " she said.
" Must've been an error during transporting them, go asked Esmus if the book was checked in " I said.
" On it " she flies away.
I turn around and leave a space for that book and put in the other ones, suddenly I felt a tap on my left shoulder and I look to my left to see no one. I felt a presence to the right so I turn and see no one, I stand here confused when I gasp to an arm around my waist from behind.
" Feeling cold? " I felt a hot breath on my ear and I giggle quietly.
I feel my cheeks warm up and I chuckle as I hold the pair of arms around my waist.
" Nice to see you too, Laurence " I said.
I put down the book on the cart then turn around to him.
" I knew you would be here " he said.
" You weren't at the assembly this morning " I said and wrap my arms around his neck and he has his arms around my waist.
" I know, had some things to do at home before I go, how are you?, I'm sorry I left so quick that day " he said, I shake my head.
" It's okay, I got your letter and I understand but you should spend more of your time with your dad than with me " I said.
" You didn't answer my question, you haven't sent a letter back to me " he said.
Right, he doesn't know and I haven't told him.
" Nana. . .umm "
" What's wrong? " He asked.
I let go of him and step back.
" Hey, whatever it is it's okay " he said.
" Nana's dead " I said.
He looks at me and I can tell by the visible shock and confusion to react on his face.
" That doesn't look good " I said, he chuckles.
" It's fine, it's just a cat, I can give you another if you want " he said, I smile.
" Your not mad? " I asked, he shakes his head and I sigh in relief.
" For a second I thought your going to kill me " I said.
" Never " he said then look around.
" This is a new part of the library " he said.
" Yeah, Elvenia said they've been doing renovations to extend it, some new rules too " I look up where the new bookshelf is flying over our heads up high.
I grab a book from the cart when suddenly I was pushed gently and my back is against the shelf, I look up at Laurence who pinned me and he smirks down at me with his hand above my head.
" What are you doing? " I gulped.
" Do you think Esmus can still hear us here? " He whispers.
" He's a troll with the ears of a mom, he can hear us from a mile away " I said, he scoff.
" I doubt that " he hold my chin and lift my head as he lean down to me.
I close my eyes and he kisses me as I kiss back, I didn't know what to do with my hands so I just hold the book close to my chest. He moves his hand to hold my face and that had me melted into the kiss which made me place my hands on his shoulder.
Thud
" Ah! " He yelps and step back as I gasp.
I realized I dropped the thick book onto his foot.
" I'm so sorry! "
" Shhhh!! " I hear Esmus and cover my mouth.
" Are you okay? " I asked quietly and Laurence keeps hopping on one foot as he nods.
" Mm-hm " he hums as a yes and bite his bottom lip in pain.
" Sit down " I help him take a seat on the bench by the window.
He inhales and let out a shaky breath as he gently set his foot down, swallowing the lump in his throat as I stand here looking at him who's still in pain. I look back at the book to realize how thick it is.
" Y/n, I got the book " I look to my right to see Elvenia approaching.
" Oh, hey Laurence " she said.
" Hi " he smiles but there's pain behind his eyes.
" You got the book? " I asked and see the floating book covered with pixie dust.
" Yup, it was left inside the transfer crate " she said as I take it.
" Thanks " I said and we both look at Laurence.
" Is he okay? "
" I'm fine " Laurence said.
Suddenly we hear a bell being rang as Laurence get up.
" I gotta go to class now " he said, I nodded.
" Be careful " I said.
" I'll see you at the cafeteria " he said and walk away.
" Why is he limping? " Elvenia asked, I sigh and chuckle.
" Let's get back to work, we got some books to deliver "
I felt a book drop on my toes before, I felt a lot of things drop on my toes before, and it was unpleasant.
